Oh I saw that Pantyhose thread. HYSTERICAL. Don't want to lead your potential future employer on, now do you?

OK, that post was just wierd. I was just lazy and didn't have any pantyhose in the house (I hate the damn things). I haven't interviewed in 2 years and the last interview I went on was a part time job in a very casual place where I had already met the boss in a bathing suit at a pool party the week before (in short, that didn't count). The last interview before that was 12 years ago (actually, no, I did have an interview w/ the FBI, but I knew I had to wear pantyhose there-it was not a good interview. I think I insulted them with my liberal views).

So...I was kinda hoping with all the "casual everydays" the dress code for interviews had also changed. People who posted were very nice and told me I was wrong, but that one just wierded me out. Should I not color my hair because I am hiding my age (in the form of gray hair) from my employer, or to go back to the real content of this thread, maybe I shouldn't wear a bra because, believe me, I sure am deceiving people with that one. :teeth:

I read about your pantyhose dilemma. How did the interview go?

I thought it went very well. They are interviewing one more person on Monday and told me they would get back to me with a decision by the end of next week. That's very fast for the government but they are looking to fill a vacancy by labor day. I think one of the people really liked me and the other one was lukewarm. I think I have a good chance at it. I really want this job. It is not interesting in the least but it will allow me to make connections. It also pays very well for a minimal amount of work. I would still have plenty of time to spend with my children.

snowwhitesmom...if you haven't passed out yet, where in the tundra do you live?

Briarmom, I was already asleep when you asked that - so I will answer now!
{GREAT night's sleep, BTW - I ADORE Tylenol PM - DH hides it and doles it out to me only when I beg}
Anyhoo - I live in the mountains of Northern NH - here's a link to the Chamber of Commerce for my area.

Sounds good. I hope you get it.

That post was the laugh of the day! :lmao:

Punkin-good luck on the job! I will have to read the pantyhose thread.

snowwhitesmom-that looks like a beautiful place to live! I need to get over to that part of the world someday. :goodvibes Oh, and I, too love Tylenol PM. Oh it is so good.

4s-Sorry you are grumpy. What time do you leave tomorrow?

I am a bit grumpy. I cannot get rid of this cold! My voice is still not entirely back. :guilty: I will make a pot of coffee before we start school.

I think we need to get in and get some shots today. Tried to go yesterday, but the clinic was closed. Then we went to pick up my WDW ticket and it was a childs ticket. Hopefully today is a better day!

Briarmom, I hope you feel better and soon!!!!

I have a dliemma of sorts...

We are thinking of staying at WDW for Christmas. Because the way the code shakes out we would have to check-in 12/23 and stay through Christmas. My mom doesn't celebrate Christmas so no loss there. My MIL however is a whole other story. She will freak that we won't be around. Nevermind that she took off for Ireland for nearly 10 years. Now that she is back we must revolve around her. Poor DH is torn. We are both only children. UGH. Last year we were able to spend Christmas Eve with her and then check-in Christmas day. I don't even plan on putting a tree up this year. We have a little one for our resort room. Decisions, decisions.

Thanks guys! My coffee was weak.

Phors-are you packed?

I'm back from my morning driving my boys places. Dropped Ben off, then Zach to Hebrew tutoring. Found out that he's doing very well, which is a relief because he doesn't practice much. They don't get language skills from me, that is for sure. And I don't read or understand a lick of Hebrew--it's Greek to me--so I'm very impressed.

snowwhitesmom, I've been to your neck of the woods and it's beautiful for sure! Cold, but beautiful.

Briarmom, maybe Disney knows that you are going to act like a kid when you are there. :yay: I hope you're feeling better soon.

punkin, I like that poster a lot and am not sure what she was thinking when she said that! :rotfl2: I did get a good laugh, though. I like your bra comment. You're not stupid--if you get the job and everyone is wearing nylons, you'll wear them, at least until you can change their minds. If they don't wear them, you won't.

Hmm, Jasmine, that's a tough one. I think you should do what works for you. You can't revolve everything around your moms and you can celebrate after you return. But she won't view it that way, of course.

Ugh. Miss J, that is a yucky one. In-laws can really screw up holidays, can't they?

I would just do what is best for you and dh. Do you guys have the kids this Christmas?

just popping in to say hi  getting ready to go in search of rum :smooth: I have a feeling this will include another boat ride :woohoo:

The kids enjoy being with the mom's side of the family over Christmas (lots of family as opposed to just DH and me. LOL). We usually have them over when we have the MIL over Christmas Eve. Christmas isn't a huge holiday to us, we celebrate the reason for the season all of the time. ;) It's nice to not have to deal with certain family members (cough, MIL, cough) over the ENTIRE holiday who do not understand that.

Bonnie, when does school start in your area? I think I'll bring the kids to Kings Dominion next week and am hoping the crowds will be low. They're only open until 8PM and was wondering if school has started in some areasor will start next week. If not your area, maybe in the Richmond area. I'm actually glad that they are only open until 8PM because it's hard to get my kids (and me  ) to leave a park before it closes and I can probably last until 8 and still drive home, stopping for a fast food dinner. We'll leave here by 8AM, if not earlier, to get there, eat a quick Burger King breakfast before going to the park by opening. Zach is strict about keeping to a schedule--a mini-me.

Hi guys. Okay I have to ask. What is Briar doing when she does this :yay: Is it dancing or jumping jacks? That is all I can come up with! :rotfl:

punkin--bummer about the trip and good luck with the job. I am going to have to read the pantyhose thread. I have been busy trying to keep up with the one where the posters thinks all the people in EVCs are fat and lazy. (She doesn't really say that but that is what it is being understood as.)

Miss J--I will tell you that a few (well, okay like 10 or 11 but who's counting) years back DH and I found an amazing deal on going to Vegas over Christmas. We had no kids at the time, my sister lived in town and his family. We usually spent the morning at his parents and the afternoon/evening at my sisters. I really wanted to go to Vegas. DH said no way would our families understand or be okay with that. I said, "Oh yeah? Watch this." called my sister and she said great, have a good time. However, he would not call his mom to even gauge a reaction. We both knew what it would be. We didint' go and you know what? To this day I regret it. We hvae never been and now it would take a lot more finagling with the kids etc. Plus I have never seen such a cheap deal. I say go.

T&B--has Jake recovered from his "crossing over" experience? (I love that phrase btw.)

DH called his mom, and she understands, now we just have to decided. If we do it, we will do a joint Christmas/New Year's Celebration with MIL. Turns out she all ready had Christmas Day plans and had a back-up plan for Christmas Eve. We are going to dicuss more this evening.

I think when Briarmom :yay: she does whatever flirting she has to get a guy to buy her a drink. Let me back up...she's married, so I'm assuming not whatever she has to, but I'm talking about flirting. :rotfl: Something that would only earn me a diet Coke, which I hate. :lmao:

Jake has had a fun time today playing with toys in his room and he just came in from outside where he was shooting hoops in the driveway and throwing baseballs at the pitchback. He's now in eating a popsicle. I finished reading him one of his Junie B books and he's going to work on his math book, which he likes to do (fractions, money, and time). I don't think that he's forgotten how to read this summer (phew!), but I need to get some of this books out and have him do some reading. My DH gave Jake permission to do the computer as long as it was educational programs or "line ups". He memorizes the line ups from various sports teams, especially basketball, but he's been working on baseball. He's going to help my DH with a Fantasy Basketball team this winter. So Jake has survived the crossing over. :rotfl2:

Now my DD is driving me crazy. She had her wisdom teeth out on Tuesday morning, and you'd think that she'd had major surgery. And she keeps turning daytime tv on, which is bad enough, but then she leaves the room (not to go to the bathroom, but to take a shower, take a nap, etc) and leaves the tv on. I finally yelled that the remote has an off button. :furious: I have to keep finding the remote--usually tangled in a blanket or in the crack of the couch--to turn the tv off since the little button on the tv is broken. She can't turn a light off, either. And she's this way when she's feeling fine, too...

Jasmine, good news about your MIL!

Jasmine--yay!! Oh, I am just dying to get back to WDW at Christmas time. I am thinking maybe Dec 07.
