When I was on pain meds for my appendix, I made promises to my DH that theres was no way that I could keep. It's not possible to be that flexible :rotfl: , didn't stop him from asking once the meds were out of my system thou.

It's a wonder he didn't get it in writing! My dh marks everything down on the calendar so he has proof when I tell he's nuts, it hasn't been 3 months. :teeth:

I know what he looks like.

What's everyone doing today? It's DDs 3rd birthday today. They grow so fast.

Happy birthday to your DD!! It's DH's birthday too.

They do grow up so fast don't they? :sad2:

teva, Happy Birthday to your DH! Have any special plans?

Jake and I had fun today. We pulled all the pencils out of the junk drawer in the kitchen. Started off with me grabbing a handful and then going into the study to sharpen then, where I found a jammed pencil sharpener because nobody has emptied it for who knows how long. So I brought it to the basement garbage to empty it and decided to just sharpen them in the kitchen and see how many we could find. Eighty-two pencils later... :rotfl2: How in the wide world of crap did we have so many in there? Of course the drawer really needs to be culled through, but I wasn't up to that. But we now have 30 sharpened pencils in there and a bag with the rest.

I'm glad I made the drs appt because I feel worse today--sore throat is back and I couldn't sleep last night because of it. It feels like sores on it. And I'm running a real low grade fever--not much 99.7 a minute ago, but I usually run below normal (barely over 98 is normal for me). So I'll go to the dr on Monday even if I'm feeling better tomorrow. Rather pay the $20 Copay and have some blood drawn.

Tig, I'm sorry you're feeling crappy again. You should go to the doctor. It sounds nasty.

Btw, do have a pencil I might borrow?

When Jake was going to do a page in his math workbook I told him he needed to find a pencil. You should have seen the look on his face! :rotfl2: At least my tags are filled up and the tag fairy is scared of this thread or I know I'd have one about pencils or my junk drawer. :lmao:

Maybe I should start a thread about junk drawers. I wonder how many people have them.

HI T&B! I have about 4 junk drawers!

I only have one true "junk drawer", but I have other junk areas. IE, we have a wetbar area between our kitchen and dining room which is awful. We have the water turned off to the sink because when Jake was little he would get up there and get into mischief. So now that sink is where my DH tosses his stuff that he brings down to his office and where I put his mail, etc. And the counter next to it gets trashed. The area above the sink we keep some decent stuff in (wine glasses, etc), but we also cram other stuff and the area under the sink we use for assorted stuff. Some things should go there, but other stuff just ends up there.

I've worked on several of these places in the kitchen this week, but still have the cabinet that has the plasticware. :scared1: It's a scary cupboard to open up. I need to pull everything out of there, put the stuff that needs to go back in and sort through the rest. I plan to that one this week if I'm feeling ok.

I need to start doing the Flylady stuff again since that helps me.

I don't have junk drawers anymore, our new kitchen is sorely lacking in drawers space. I now have junk surfaces.

The microwave cart: (notice NO microwave, where would we put it with all this crap??? :confused3 )

I'm not sure why we even own a dining room table. We never eat at it. Maybe it's because Dh thinks it's his personal closet (see the jeans and belt?) and tool shed and catch all for projects and papers:

He'll kill me for this but here's the culprit. He is supposed to be hard at work today clearing up the mess on dining room table:

Me too :rotfl: We moved in 4 months ago and I still have the guest room filled with boxes of stuff. I say if I haven't used it at the 6 month mark, with the exception of the christmas tree and ornaments, it should go. Dh however, is a firm believer in keeping for someday. :sad2: That's why we moved. So our storage unit could be on the premises

hehehe Shug, you might want to use your DH before that time so you don't have to get rid of him. :rotfl2: I have been tossing some things out, which felt good. I'm a bit of a pack rat, so it's not easy. I just got some new Corelle dishes, so got rid of my old (packing them up since Alyssa wants my old ones in the future) and it prompted me to go through some of my cupboards. It's amazing how there were things in there that we haven't used in years. Sippy cups of Jake's, but he hasn't needed those in awhile and never will. It's not like anyone else will ever need them. There's a lot that I'm not getting done this week since I'm not feeling well (making dinner), but at least I'm doing some of these little kitchen projects, which have needed to get done for a long time.

teva, my bedroom has been the catch all place for a few years and I'm ashamed to even have the bedroom door open when guests are in the house. There is no way that I can allow others in that room and I know I have to clean it up before the Bar Mitzvah, but I dread that kind of clean up. Probably wouldn't really take more than a few hours of my time, but I just haven't done it. Will have to do it, though.

Love the Petey pic! Of course he didn't have the Michael Jackson pose that your DH had! :lmao:

I know what you mean. I have had to even tell people that my bedroom bathroom wasn't working so they wouldn't go back there to use it! I need an "Enter at your own risk" sign for the door.

That's one thing I love about having 2 stories. No one ever goes upstairs. The bedrooms and main bath are up there but there's a bath down here and so no need! I can clean the downstairs in a couple of hours. The upstairs requires several hours and possibly a search party. Remember the scene in Poltergeist where he ties a rope around himself and jumps into the closet? That's my upstairs :lmao:

I'm no neatnik but it took some real adjustment to learn to live with my packrat Dh.

I quit my job in June and have been cleaning my house sence then. It is still not clean. I dresd going down into the family room. That's my junk room.

You all are too much! :lmao: :lmao: My "spare" bedroom downstairs was to become my room. I am 30 somthing and never had my own room, that was the plan but DD lost her apartment and was ready to leave it all there, stuff we bought :furious: So the room is packed to the gills thinking it was temporary, yeah right :sad2: I look at this way now, Rebecca will need next to nothing to dorm since we all know other DD, she won't need it any time soon :sad2:

punkin, should I hope that you don't get this job and then you can come here and start helping me on my house once you're done with yours? :rotfl:

Shug, we also have a 2 story house, but I know when family comes that people are going to go look around my house. Most have seen it, but one brother hasn't ever been here. I don't so much care about him looking around, but if any of my DH's extended family is here and looks around I will die. :faint: So I need to at least get it cleaned up enough that if that were to happen I won't be too embarrassed.

I have a "15 minute messy" rule (a Flylady thing). A room or an area should not be so dirty/messy that it takes more than 15 minutes to get back in order. I'm pretty good with the front of my house (living, dining, foyer, powder room), so someone can stop by with little notice and I can chat with them in the front of the house and they can think I am fairly neat. Not real neat, but normal neat. But if they venture to other parts of my house I'm toast! :rotfl: So my goal is to get the back part of my house (family room, kitchen and that dreaded wet bar area) "15 minute messy".

Angel, it's hard when you have extra crap to deal with. I feel for you!

You know T&B, when we had my DD's Bat Mitzvah, we had construction in the house. We were sleeping in the family room and the upstairs was basically gutted. I had people over after services and no one was allowed upstairs. You can just tell your guests your house is being remodeled and don't let them near your room.

As far as me cleaning your house...you really don 't want that. I am a really lousy housekeeper.
