Hey guys. I have been avoiding posting this but here goes. I finally seem to have a diagnosis. However, it sucks and I don't like it. It sounds like I have what is called neuromylitis optica. It is kind of like MS in that the myelin sheath covering your nerves is attacked and degraded by your own immune system. Unlike MS however there is not a whole world of doctors working on a cure or at least medications to slow the progression of the disease. That part is pissing me off. The brain is not invovled in NMO as it is in MS but the optical nerves can be affected in that it can cause partial or complete vision loss. Guess that explains my funny vision if I get overtired huh?

I am cranky. I am a bit in denial, I am a bit in freak out mode. I feel like if I let go, I would not be handling this well at all.

Oh Julie, I am so very sorry to hear this. Is this a form of ms or another disease or something of its own?
've heard of it but do not know much about it. If you can I would recommend finding a message board that deals with it. I have found some medical community boards to be of great support!

As for what it is, I guess it is sort of a strain of MS but there are different antibodies involved. I am looking for message boards right now. I have only found one so far by some woman in the UK that does not seem very active but I am going to keep looking.

I will know more about the disease itself after I talk to this other doc.

I am going to have to take DD to piano now, but I will be back later.

Well of course you're cranky, that sucks.

Babydoll go on and freak out. You know a great place to do that? In the shower. It's true. A friend turned me on to it. Close and lock that door and you can scream and carry on..........I turn up the radio in there too.

Go and start a thread on the coping and compassion board too, if you're up to it. Great way to vent and find a few people going through maybe not the same, but similar circumstances.

4s, that just blows me away . I've have 3 brothers and while I can't imagine them ever doing anything remotely like that if they did jail would be the least of their worries. My mom string them up. What are the parent's of these kids saying?
