Hey guys. I have been avoiding posting this but here goes. I finally seem to have a diagnosis. However, it sucks and I don't like it. It sounds like I have what is called neuromylitis optica. It is kind of like MS in that the myelin sheath covering your nerves is attacked and degraded by your own immune system. Unlike MS however there is not a whole world of doctors working on a cure or at least medications to slow the progression of the disease. That part is pissing me off. The brain is not invovled in NMO as it is in MS but the optical nerves can be affected in that it can cause partial or complete vision loss. Guess that explains my funny vision if I get overtired huh?

I am cranky. I am a bit in denial, I am a bit in freak out mode. I feel like if I let go, I would not be handling this well at all.

He was so cute!!! Wearing a little purple sweater.

He barked and barked at me and Shug held him so I could scratch his ears. He seemed okay 'til I stood up and he started barking again!

He was just like a shy little kid, hiding behind Shug's legs and peaking out and barking at me. Cute, cute, cute!

I should have given you a toy to throw. If you play fetch with him, he's your friend for life

Not yet. He gave me a rx laxative and ointment and I have to have a barium enema and colonoscopy next week. With my history they are concerned, even though the chances are small, about the cancer having spread to my colon. I need to check with Scrappy on that. It's Weds morning.

We're on our way now to dinner and to fill the rxs I got. Hopefully the pipes are clear by tomorrow.

4's I'm so sorry your home and family were violated in that way! I don't blame you for wanting to pick up and go. I'm so horrified at what people are capable of. A lot of kids have no sense right and wrong, and no empathy at all. It's scary!


Paige, I'm so sorry for your loss. I really think it's rotten to try to hide the fact that you are ALL hurting from the kids. I think that's part of the problem with this no empathy thing. If we don't teach kids that it's okay, even NORMAL to be uspet over the death of their teacher, who is right up there with Mom and Dad in importance, then these kids think lack of emotion is how you are suppoed to be. I'm probably not making much sense.

Amie, hang in there sweetie! It's so hard to have everything up in the air. Just know you'll be out of Brunswick eventually.

DM3 How frustrating to be finally given a diagnosis and have a whole new set of unknowns pop up. If there isn't a readily available message board or group, then start one!

Hi guys, I am back. I have found a group that sounds pretty good. However a lot of people on there are pretty advanced so that is freaking me out a little. Lots of paralysis and vision loss going on over there. I intend to be part of the 50% that doesn't lose vision. I can do that right? Right?

Dh took the kids sledding so I can just have some time without having to care about anyone else.

I am still vacillating between grieving, being cranky and being in denial.

Oh, man. Now they are home.

You guys are great btw!!
