It's an Epcot resort to me. I also almost think of SSR as one. The places I like to book and we really only do Epcot festivals so we book Epcot resorts as often as we can. That's BWV, BCV and RR (SSR is our next preferred for almost quick enough). The quickest treks to World Showcase.

I don't think I've even seen the category of "Epcot resorts" except as a sign for an exit. In that context, it certainly counts.

Given how easy it is to get to Epcot from RIV I think it’d fair that people view it as an Epcot area resort.

But, it could also be considered a HS area resort too.

Sure it’s not walkable like the Crescent Lake ones. But I think it’s convenient enough to be classified that way by those of us who feel it fits.

But I also consider all the resorts in and around Bay Lake and Seven Seas MK area resorts.

Do you consider WL/CCV/BRV to be MK resorts? I’m pretty sure Disney does, even if they aren’t walkable. Heck, Poly and VGF only just became walkable recently and they are definitely considered MK resorts.

We are big BC owners, don’t get me wrong, but I definitely see the merit of Riviera as well for that area, especially for my daughter who is a lazy walker. I’d like to own there someday if only to have a cheaper alternative when having to replace all of our BC points with BC2!

The monorail took me an hour to get from VGF to Epcot last time I tried. Literally an hour. In July. After that I swore never again TO the park, and I was so annoyed that I didn’t bother taking it back FROM the park either.

I was only thinking in terms of it being an MK park. It is not advertised as an EPCOT park resort.

Looking at the map it’s unfortunate that they didn’t build an overpass w/ a walkway to make the Riviera a true Epcot resort.
I’m curious when the Skyliner is down due to lightening or whatever do you have to go to the front of the park to catch the bus, or do they send you over to the closer BC bus stop?

We experienced our first down time with the Skyliner in June and they were directing people back to the front of the park to catch a bus....we opted to walk over to BC and call a Lyft...best $8 I every spent.

Matter of fact, since we stay at RIV a lot, we now budget for that as a possibility so we don't have to do buses....

I personally consider the resorts "park resorts" assuming you can easily walk there. By my logic:

Epcot Resorts - Swan Reserve, Swan, Dolphin, Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club
Magic Kingdom - Polynesian (borderline), Grand Floridian, Bay Lake Tower/Contemporary Resort
Borderline - though not walkable - given there is no walkable resort option, and the uniqueness of the properties, I include the Animal Kingdom Lodge resorts as Animal Kingdom resorts.

Where exactly is Rivera?

Here it is! Technically closer to Epcot than POFQ and OKW, but not by much - and only easier to get to when Skyliner is running. I'm all for saying the resort is only attached to a park if you can walk to it - even if it is a long walk.

I believe they have spots for the Skyliner resorts at Epcot. They are just a really long walk..last lot for the buses.

Nothing I have the time to even consider. As to the line at closing for Skyliner, it moves really fast. It's a location designation and Yes the closest park to Riviera is Epcot.
