PLEASE SHARE -What is it like to resort park now?

Im expecting live videos by the gate..then follow the cars into the lots, and follow the guests out of the cars and into check-in ...then just tape them checking in :) But dont let any of this look obvious or suspicious!!

Also, can you let us know of any questions asked to your Uber driver?
They always ask questions of Uber drivers. Drivers tell guards they are dropping off. Guards say "oh, ok, go ahead then"
They do check their IDs
The parking change would have no bearing on drop offs. As soon as the driver says Drop Off only, they'll get admitted, just like at the parks. There's never a question given to them or any verification needed to proof you are really just dropping off

Look again at BeachClub. There is an arm at exit

Or, wait, is that the entrance. I'm all turned around I think

I cant tell. I looked at every angle. Could be arms, but looks like curbing...but they do have that big box on the side..so ????

Wish that bus would move so I could see the other side and see if the arm is attached to a gray box!

Could be further back in a central point that gives access to all 3 at once. I'm sure there was one when we came in. We've stayed at both music and movies for a single night when we flew in late. And we took a bus to the all Stars from the Expo one time because it was the first one to arrive and we were heading to a park

There's only one guard shack at All Stars when you first come in on the entrance road.

Geesh....had to drive around and around, but I found it. Arms at both entrance and exit...

When we stayed at Disneyland Hotel in April 2017 and paid to park, we had to interact with a guard each time in and each time out. They checked our room key. If I remember correctly, they asked at checkin if we had a car, we said yes, and the charge was added to our room charges. I would imagine each time we left they scanned our key to check whether we had paid. I'm not sure what Disneyland hotels do about day guests though.

When day guests leave and do not have a room key to show, they get charged the hourly rate by that same guard (or the validated rate if you eat on property). I’ve been there for events in the ballroom and just for dinner many times. Parking is expensive!!

Hmm...so we've established they validate parking for day guests at Aulani, or they have to pay.

Now we're learning they do the same at Disneyland

But WDW is claiming they are implementing the parking fee in part by staying in line with their HI and CA resorts...... :confused3

Mmm yeah no, this has been the policy at DLR for many years. I can remember maybe 10? years ago at least going to Goofy’s Kitchen or an event in the ballroom and having to pay. Some people park in DTD and walk over, same validation there. You could theoretically park in the parking garage for the parks for $20 flat (or free if you have an AP) and then walk over to the hotel but that’s a bit of a hike. That’s also backwards of the WDW problem. No free lunch at DL, you park, you pay.

And actually, now that I think about it... that would kind of make sense for WDW to funnel day guests to the TTC and take a bus to the resort they want, since there is a transportation system in place.

They’d have to add buses though, since there is currently no regular bus transport to/from the TTC.

Ah yeah. I just think it’s funny that here at DL people park at the parks parking garage and then go to a hotel to avoid the hotel day use charge while at WDW you can park at a resort free to go to the parks. How does Disney not realize that is totally backwards?

Every resort I have ever stayed at and that is almost all of them except all stars.....gives you a pass for your dash board. i call BS on your statement.

We've never been given a pass for our dash board at any of the resorts.

I haven't either. I always assumed those were for you to be able to park at the parks for free. Since we never drive to the parks, we never asked for one and never received one and we have driven every trip but one, since 2001.

Has anyone that’s written to the generic guest relations e-mail (wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com) gotten a call back? I actually didn’t really want to talk to anyone about it...I expressed all of my concerns in the email and sent it to that address because I hadn’t heard of people getting a call back after sending e-mail there. I just checked my phone and lo and behold, there’s a voicemail from someone in guest relations wanting to talk to me about it. Just wondering what other people’s experiences were...
I did. I wrote them the day this was announced and heard back on 3/22, which I kind of figured they'd get back to me after the day they'd start charging. I asked if my current reservations would be grandfathered in to not pay and they said yes. They thanked me for being an annual passholder and listed the perks for being one, also mentioning parking at the hotels not being one of them.

You need to email the executives to hear more personalized responses.

Just make sure you move your car from the Poly after your breakfast to the TTC or whichever park you will be visiting. You can't leave your car at the Poly while going to a park.
Denise
There is nothing preventing you from doing just that and staying at the Poly all day, they are a day guest. That is part of what people are complaining about.
