I agree onecoolmama - it was on the thread about Michael Moore's film. You can still go back to my thread and it says - edited by sarangel! I thought it was very strange but didn't want to rock the boat and risk being banned.:(

Thanks for clearing that up for us Cliff. Has anyone ever told you that you have a crap-load of useless knowlege stored upstairs:p

Cheers

People have been known to say that about me from time to time. I just take it for the compliment that it's meant to be. After all, if I weren't so full of this craptastic knowledge, then how would I be able to share my wisdom upon all of the masses who crave it so much?

I think it's time for another brewski!

Hey, I take credit for Dan using the word crap. He's called me on that one before and I told him it was an OK word to use. If I meant the other word, I'd use the other word. But I meant crap so I use it instead. :p Hey, Cliff Calvin, I have always used it to mean "stuff" as in junky stuff. Trust me, it is OK to say. I had my mouth washed out many times when growing up and never got it for the word crap.

Think again if you think Dan or someone else has more rights than others on this board. That just isn't true.

I'm just glad to know that I'm not the only one who recently got a PM about trying to get around the filters. I really was unaware that replacing letters of a word with asterisks was against the rules. I did know profanity is against the rules so thought I had used an accepted form of expressing a sentiment without actually including the full word. I know better now, of course, and it won't be a problem to avoid the issue again since I've already had to clean up my language due to the little one pictured below.

Kind of to the side of this topic, I never used a lot of profanity but found that the longer I worked at my previous job, the more it was replacing more acceptable forms of expression. I'm not trying to stereotype people but it seemed like most of my co-workers who were male, mid-twenties and semi-professionals (computer geeks) had amazingly foul language. I didn't like to "be the mom" but at times I did find myself asking if they noticed just how often they used a certain four letter word that is much more likely to raise eyebrows and could also have the potential of getting them into some trouble for harassment since it also has a sexual connotation.

Is there a list of banned curse words because it seems I've read two or three without any astericks in them?

You can see if a word is filtered simply by typing it in a post or reply box and clicking on Preview rather than Submit. If it filtered, *'s will show up, if it is fine, as far as DIS standards are concerned, it will show up as a regular word.

I have often wondered why crap was okay but **** is not, they sort of seem the same, at least in this neck if the woods. That is a good example of your question, disney4us2002, crap is okay, **** is not, one shows up fine with letters, the other, *'s.

See I'm not surprised crap is okay, but I was surprised to see the other words for darn and heck (opposite of heaven).

Thanks Dan for the preview clue but I don't typically use those words. I would rather not read them was my point.

Well, you have at least one guy in your corner, disney4us2002, me too.

Just recycling an oldie here so folks newer to the boards, last 18 months or so, who have not seen this, are aware.

Bump...Good idea. I think sometimes we don't realize how words are powerful.
