Skuttle - Guessing you're on pins & needles now, filling out pre-op paperwork. Hope everything goes fine. I wish I'd have found this sooner - could've given you some local insight. Both my boys had tubes at 9mos. They were done at the BRASS facility near OLOL.

It was definitely worse for us than the boys. Both of them bounced back as if nothing happened that morning! More heart wrenching for me was watching the older kids coming through recovery after having tonsillectomies. I just wanted to hold & comfort them all.

Sending positive thoughts your way!

Everything went great today! Colin was not cranky at all this morning before his surgery even though he hadn't eaten in 12 hours. We tried waking him up last night to get one last bottle in, but he wouldn't wake up so we just let him rest. The surgery was super fast, like everyone had said. They took him, I got a coke and didn't even drink half when they called us to talk to the ENT. We talked to the ENT, then a few minutes later we were in recovery with Colin. He was screaming...took a big bottle then fell asleep on his dad. He's sleeping now.

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts, prayers and pixie dust. It meant a lot...Colin may not have needed them but I know I did...nervous mom here. ;)

*SO* glad he's doing well, skuttle. And glad it's over! ;)

Is that a photo of your son in your signature?? I *love* that photo!! :p

I'm glad everything went well! Thanks for the update :sunny:

I am glad to hear that everything went well. Hope that ear situation resolves now that the tubes are in. Lots of my friends' kids have had great results after tubes.

I too, wish I had seen this thread yesterday. Any event that requires anesthesia is scary!

Our DD (6) had her tonsils and Adenoids out almost three weeks ago. while I was in rhe RR with her -for 2 hrs.- I can't remember how many tube-babies came through. They were in and out so fast! Their recovery time was 15 minutes if that. They would cry just a bit and that was it.

My daughter had some anesthesia complications and had a rough time in recovery then a huge amount of post op swelling. I am still tired from the whole ordeal. She is just now getting back to normal. We had our post op visit with the surgeon this week and he said he wants to see her again in 6 weeks to check her speech and see if the residual swelling has gone done.

I really wish we had done this a few years ago when she was littler because she gets strep throat about every 6 weeks and it has taken a toll on her but the insurance company wouldn't agree to it until just recently and then we had to wait until school let out because she had already missed too many days this year as it was
. I am sure hoping that this eliminates or at least cuts down on the number of times she gets sick.
She is very mature and articulate and was really nerve wracked the week leading up to her surgery. Had a lot of dificulty sleeping and even wet the bed one night- She NEVER does this!

Driving to the hospital that morning she was asking me questions that gave me the creeps About dying and pain and I was trying to be upbeat and cheerful reassuring but in my head I was thinking maybe we'll just turn around and go home!

Hugs to you and Stacilee! I'm glad both kidlets are okay!

I'm glad everything went well. I'm a nurse anesthetist and gave anesthesia to two little ones having ear tubes this morning and I thought of you and was wondering how your little cutie did with his surgery. The tubes should really help him.:earsboy:
