Please help! Need school dates/info to plan a trip-

Can you guys please tell me when your schools let out in the spring and go back at the end of the summer?
For example: here in NYC (private schools) let out June 16th and kids return after labor day, September 5th.

I'm trying to plan a WDW trip with people all over the East Coast and Texas, and coordinating individually has been difficult. I know my fellow Dis'ers can help me better with scheduling a trip! I'm more on top of planning for Disney than any of my friends!

In Texas, students are back in school no later than the third week in August, sometimes earlier. The exact dates vary by district. Students are typically released for the summer during or before the first week of June.

We live in the NYC area as well. My 3 children go to private prep schools and return on Friday Sept 8. Seems strange they just don't let them start on the 11th (they must need the day on the calendar). But we will be on a Disney Cruise and at the GF until the 6th! HOPING ITS EMPTY!!! Good luck!!!

A thought.... Schools post calendars online. If you know the school districts your friends are in, you can get a general idea.

Yes, go to the districts and look at their calendars. I know my kids calendars a minimum of a year in advance.

That being said, I have family in Texas and Missouri and I'm in a northern state. When we vacation together we choose the last week of June or the month of July. Nothing else really coordinates. My DD starts fall Sports practice the first week of August even though school doesn't start until after Labor Day so that may also be another consideration if there are kids in HS.

Schools here are all over the board. Private schoolstend to follow a traditional 'out in June, back around Labor Day', but public schools start and end earlier. We go back July 27 and are out before Memorial Day.

I think there's a pretty big discrepancy nationwide. I'm in central IL and the schools here let out just before Memorial Day (like the Thursday before) and go back mid-August (like the 17th or 18th or thereabouts).

I live in South West Florida kids start Aug 7th and get out May 18th.

School here ends before Memorial Day and starts back by the third Monday in August.

Here in NY our kids are in school until the last week of June, and return the Tues after Labor Day. However school sports start mid August.
I would think you are safe to plan for something in mid July.

Why not ask the families directly??? Or are you thinking of crowd levels? If it is all about the crowd levels, it is crazy-crowded all summer, until the last week of August.
