I have reservations (solo) with the Fairy Tale Package 10/24 to 10/31. I kind of booked the whole thing on a whim and booked my airfare very quickly (a friend found me a good deal) without a lot of forethought.
It turns out my return flight is at 5:45pm (last flight of the day on that airline) which effectivly ends my fun at noon or so. Since the 31st is a Friday and I don't "need" to be back until Monday morning, I've been considering extending my stay one extra day. The change fee for my airline ticket is a very reasonable $25. I was hoping to delay making this decision until word of discounted rates for 10/31 came about (I assumed another week or so)
I was just checking around and it appears that the flight I would want to switch to is almost full, so I'm feeling some pressure to figure this out.

Do I spend the extra money on the hotel room and the airline change fee (and food and whatever else) to get a full final day in the parks?

I won't be arriving until lunch time on my first day and really feel like I'm missing out on a lot of time I could be enjoying between the mid day arrival and the flight home.

I count six full days in your current plan, plus the arrival and departure day fragments. That's a fair amount of time, and because you are solo, you'll move more quickly through the parks. There are some attractions that are more geared toward children that you may not spend much time with which will also save some time. For many of us, the more time you spend, the more relaxing and enjoying the trip. I also like to get home a day or so before returning to work to get back to reality:rolleyes:

I don't know your situtation re: rental car or not bbut we had a 6:40 flight when we were there in February, saw the Dream Come True Parade (3pm) bolted from the park, stopped for gas, returned the rental car and were sitting in the airport having dinner at 4:45pm. This was with a 6 & 7 year old, so you should be able to get a good part of the day in.

Good Luck

we had a 6:30 flight out of MCO & were able to stay at AK until 3:15....we tore into the hotel & changed our clothes (they were soaked because of Kali) in the lobby bathroom....the towncar was waiting for us at 3:45 & we got to the airport by 4:30....way too early as far as I was concerned....but, we got a full day in at the parks....sounds to me like you could do stuff until 2:00....keep your original flight plans....just my 2 cents....

Oh Stay the Extra Day! What the heck... you only live once, and while others may not mind charging about at breakneck spead trying to make a flight, it is not my idea of a great way to end a vacation. If time and money are no consideration, I say GO FOR IT!!!!

I'll be staying at All Star Movies and most likely using a towncar for transportation (otherwise Mears)
I expect to be at MK as my last park, so I need to plan at least half an hour to get back to ASM, figure that the towncar would plan my pick up for at least 2 and a half hours before my flight (mears even earlier) I guess noon is a bit conservative.

It's not that money isn't an issue (money is always an issue) but I'm thinking I'm more likely to regret leaving early than spending less than $200 to stay an extra day, all costs involved included. This might be my third trip in 4 years, but I'm not likely to make it back for at least a couple of years.

Thanks for all your input.

this thread reminds me of the little angel on one shoulder & the little devil on the other....."stay & spend the money" "No, leave & be conservative"....LOL

I would stay longer. But that's just me. The extra push for me to stay longer would not only be the last day pretty much wasted (leaving so early plus using transportation that would have you getting ready to leave SO early to get there way before the flight to leave) but also because of what DAY it is. I mean it's Halloween. I'd rather stay the extra day because of that alone. I wouldn't want to have to be traveling home on Halloween night! LOL

So, tell me; which is the angel and which is the devil? ;)

I'm on the stay and spend the money side... enjoy the day, leave in relative peace (as opposed to break neck speed).

If you can swing the additional money do it. Otherwise make the most of what time you do have. I am guessing no matter what you will look at it and want to stay just a little longer. :D
