We will be in Disney World the last week of August. We have been to Disney several times, but have never done a special ticketed event. I want to surprise my family with either the afterhour’s event at a park if/when those dates open or the MNSSHP. It will be my wife and I plus our two teenage daughters. I’m leaning towards the Tuesday August 27th MNSSHP but would like some opinions.

This is our plans so far, 7 day park hoppers from Aug. 24-30 staying onsite. There is EMH is the evening at Epcot on the same date as MNSSHP and on the 28th at MK. We really like being in the parks late and we always do EMH when it’s offered at night. I wish the MNSSHP wasn’t on the same night as Epcots EMH but it is.

In your opinion, is it worth the money to do the Halloween party and miss the night EMH at Epcot? Or should we not due the special ticketed event and should I book them a spa treatment or wait and see if other afterhours events at parks open up?

Thanks

Agree MNSSHP all the way, unless your only goal is to do rides. The party had unique fireworks and amazing parade and a fun stage show. You won’t see them anywhere else. Worth it to go at least once. Although I usually skip EMH anyway since it does seem to make the park a bit more crowded during the day.

I think the MNSSHP is my most favorite thing at WDW. I've heard they may have an updated fireworks show and some additional attraction overlays this year. I've never been disappointed at the party. I'd use the party time to do party things more than the rides - except perhaps the rides with overlays if that interests you. We also enjoy being in the parks late (although EMH evenings can be crowded - but overall we are night owls) - however the party is the way to go in my opinion.

MNSSHP is so fun! Just the atmosphere alone is worth the price in my opinion. :)

Having once been a teenage girl, I can say that one of my favorite things about MNSSHP was planning my costume, makeup, etc. I don't know if your girls are into that sort of thing, but if you think they might be, then tell them ahead of time so they can plan and get excited!

A surprise Halloween party with nothing to wear could potentially be stressful or disappointing for a teenager

I don’t think they will dress up plus with it being in August it will be hot. I’m getting Disney/Halloween shirts made up so we can wear them. This will make my wife happy since she always wanted to do matching shirts but non of us wanted to. But then again they are teenagers so who knows what they will feel. I’m always surprised.

That’s what we do for hot season parties. Matching shirts are much easier than costumes when it’s hot and soupy out! :-)

MNSSHP is my fave event there. Plus I think the teens would enjoy it. It also keeps you away from DHS which will be crazy that week with Star Wars: GE opening.
