...get so close to people who are sitting waiting for a show or parade that your feet are up the person's butt. I couldn't believe how many times that this happened to me last week. I realize that everyone wants to see but have some consideration for the person in front of you.

I agree...a few years ago, while waiting for the fireworks at MK, someone got so close to me that I was actually getting hit in the anlkes with their stroller. When I politely mentioned this to the wife, the husband accused me of trying to start a fight!

Oh, this is one of my pet peeves!

It drives me nuts when people get right on top of you in line for a ride or counter service. (they're not even trying to see then!)

I've had people stand so close I could feel them breathing on me! Or constantly bumping into me. Please - a little breathing room. And, don't forget to teach your kids too! ;)

Thanks!

To go along with putting feet under peoples butt. Also don't put your butt on peoples feet.

While we were watching the parade at AK we were standing on one of the concrete walls a woman cam up and sat down below me, right on my feet. No excuse me or sorry.

So please keep all butts and feet seperated.

In October we were waiting for Spectro to start. We found a curb spot 2 hrs before. As the time got closer more and more people started to line up behind us. I did have the feet on my butt and the knees in my neck. My DS was 2 and he has ants in his pants so he kept getting up and to see if the parade was coming. So I was sitting on an angle with my arms and hands on DS spot. I was worried someone was going to plop their butt down in his spot.

Parades and fireworks are the perfect time to Ride ride ride my favorite huge line rides ie Peter Pan cause no one is around!! I have the park to myself in those few blessed minutes!!!

So everyone please keep on saving those parade curbside spots 2 hours in advance!!!

I hate it too! But I try to remember that different cultures have a different definition of personal space. And in WDW there are many different people from many different countries. In Japan, for instance, their idea of personal space is less than half of what ours is! I read somewhere the average American tries to keep at least 18 inches of personal space. So I try to keep telling myself that when I have someone breathing down my neck or sitting on my feet! I still give them "the look" hoping they will get the idea.

Oh I hate when people do that, it's so rude!

This is what I did. In the line for the rides I would leave a lot of space between my son and myself (I was behind my son). Then when the people behind me got too close I was able to move up. And when they moved up after I moved up, and this may be childish, I would push back with my backpack which was on my back. They finally would get the message to not follow too closely. With the fireworks, from past experiences, I knew that people push and shove at the last minute so I put the backpack between my son and myself so that we would have a little extra space. However we still got feet up our butt. It is too bad that Disney cannot do something about this. They seem to know how to manage crowds in other ways but the fireworks and parades are terrible. Another pet peeve is the strollers. I hate that people with strollers think they have the right of way and run over you.

The "LAST" time that I watched a parade, I got hit in the back with an "empty" stroller the whole time (before/during/and after).

But I must add that people with backpacks need to be more aware of their surroundings, also.. Most of them do not notice or care about the space they violate or the people they hit with them -- whether just walking or while taking them off and on.

It's not just at Theme parks either! We had taken some kids on a retreat and stopped at McDonalds on the way home. This woman got in line behind me. she stood so close that I thought she was my husband, so I turned around to take her hand. (good thing I turned my head at the same time:eek: ) She was litterally pressed up against me. I moved away, and she just kept coming. It was so rude! Finally my Hubby did join me and I made HIM stand in the line! At Disney I make him stand behind me, then I can control how close people are to me. (He just does not care as much.)

this is probably my one and ONLY pet peeve at the parks. I always and I mean ALWAYS make sure my children do not run up on someone else's butt while in line, yet other people CONTINUE to let their children do it to us as well as them doing it themselves. I did turn around once and politely ask a woman to please stop bumping me and she did. I did feel guilty but it was about 1000 degrees and I was dying from the heat and I just needed her to stop.

I did this once at WDW and another time at a Six Flags. Now,I'm not an overly touchy/feely kinda person, but if you're going to invade my space,be prepared!! Both times it was a woman who decided being up my rear would be an advantage! So,I turned around made believe we knew each other and gave her the biggest bear hug!! Man,did one woman freak!! The other
lady(at wdw) laughed and said she got the message!! Funny thing happened, for a short time I had TONS of space all around me!!!! I wouldn't hesitate to do it again!

airhead(gimme a hug!!!!)

It also bothers me when I'm eating, and people are standing right by our table, waiting for us to finish. I realize people want to sit down, but I get so annoyed thinking I need to hurry so someone else can have my table.

if people start crowding me, I usually say to my daughter "Ohmigod, my claustaphobia is starting to kick in... I think I'm going to throw up!!!' people start clearing a space around me, I wonder why??? :)

Regarding backpacks

I am watching a 'circlevision' type film at a theme park (I think it was Disney but can't be sure)

The film was of a speeded up ride in a fire engine viewed out of the drivers cab. We were apparently riding at about 120 mph when a woman with a stroller steps out in front. The fire engine stops dead.

Everyone in the audience takes a step backwards to regain their balance. The couple behind me has laid their backpack on the floor just behind my feet. As I pick myself up I spot the couple doubled up with laughter. In a fit of embarrasment mixed with rage, I hurl their backpack into the far corner of the theatre.

It lands with a crunch. They stop laughing but say nothing!

Try saying loudly Oh I feel so sick Hope I didn't catch your flu from yesterday!

I like the "sick" angle never thought of that. I will use it but I find one problem, many of the visitiors to Disney do not speak or have limited English. I also find that maybe in their culture it is okay to push in front at the parade or cut the line. Anyone have any tips for that one that will not start an international incident?

AIRHEAD,

Your solution of 'hugging' to stop bumps is absolutely HILARIOUS!!!

Thanks for the laugh today!!!
