Please don't be angry, but are Heelys allowed or prohibited by WDW in the parks? :)

They aren't allowed, but as is normal in today's society most folks either don't know or if they do belive "that rule doesn't apply to me" ........

I once saw a kid SLAM into a Senior Citizen at Epcot. The kid was "flying" down the little hill off the bridge between France and England in "heelys' His mom's reaction. She YELLED at the Senior Citizen for not getting out of her brat's way! A CM did explain to her that the heelys had to go and she got more then a little upset with him too.....

My children will inform Heely wearers that they are breaking the rules. The conversation will go something like this:

My 3: can we wear our Heely's at Disney?
Me: yes, but NO wheels.
My 3: Why not?
Me: 1. because I said so; 2. they are not allowed at WDW; and 3. It isn't safe.

Later at the parks......
My 3: Why are those kids wearing Heely's?
Me: I don't know.
My3: Well, they are breaking the rules. Then they will say to that person: you know, Heely's are not allowed here, why are you breaking the rules?

Ok, so this happened once, and I told them not to say that again....but they still ask why some kids and parents don't follow the rules. :confused3

I HATE Heelys. I always see kids wearing them in grocery stores or wherever. It wouldn't bother me if they just wore them, but they always apparently have to race around as fast as they can. And they won't watch were they are going, bump into displays, carts, and other people, and they won't get out of they way, they expect everyone else to get out of their way! :headache:

Can someone point me to where I can find this rule online (or otherwise)? I'm having a hard time convincing my daughter that Heely's are not allowed at the parks...she thinks I'm just making it up to keep her from wearing them.

Totally agree. These are an OUTSIDE thing only in front of your house or at the park. I have been run in to at the grocery store and the mall and I was looked as if I was the one who was in the wrong. I think NOT!

Q. Are there any personal items I should not bring with me into the Theme Parks?

A. Items that you may not bring into the Theme Parks include, but are not limited to:

Items with wheels, such as wagons, skateboards, scooters, inline skates, shoes with built-in wheels, two-wheeled or three-wheeled conveyances, strollers larger than 36" x 52", suitcases, coolers, or backpacks with or without wheels larger than 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high (coolers required for medication may be stored in a locker or at Guest Relations), and any trailer-like object that is pushed or towed by an ECV wheelchair or stroller
Alcoholic beverages
Weapons of any kind
Folding chairs
Glass containers (excluding baby food jars and perfume bottles)
Pets (unless they are service animals)
In Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park (for the safety of the wildlife), balloons, straws and drink lids are not permitted.

For the record, I HATE heelies and think parents letting them wear them in the parks lack serious judgement and manners.

That being said, on my last 2 trips, I still haven't seen any signs saying they weren't allowed.

Wow, if I'd have pulled this with my parents, ie: them having a hard time 'convincing' me that I wasnt allowed to do something, i WOULD have been convinced it was going to be painful to sit for a while..

Ditto.

I saw many kids and teens using Heelies throughout the parks (and at Universal and Sea World too). Never saw a cast member say anything about them to anyone, but I didn't witness any accidents either; a few close calls, but no accidents.

More of a problem was that my youngest niece had packed hers and we, (me the auntie, her mom, big sister, and grandparents), wouldn't let her wear them. We let her know they were against the rules for one, and it was way too hot for her feet in those crazy things, her broken in all terrain sandals and Crocs were better and she could get them wet without a problem. Then, of course, there are all kinds of Heelies in use everywhere we go. This starts the whining and bellyaching about the Heelies..."See, you can have them in here!"

As a parent, it is tough to stand strong on enforcing the rules when there is no solidarity. The rules don't seem to apply to everyone whether it is not cutting in line, or barging in front of people who have waited patiently on the curb for hours just prior to the parade.

What's to convince? Say no. You are the parent.
