In order to insult Michael Jackson, on TRL, they called him a "white chick." Regardless of whether you like him, please don't consider it necessary. We know that it's wrong to insult someone, especially someone you haven't even met!

On TRL, Shawn and Marlon Waynans were promoting their new movie, "White Chicks." As a game, the host showed pictures of Caucasian females to see if the African-American actors could recognize them. The last picture was one of Michael Jackson. (Shawn and Marlon Waynans denied being part of the "joke" and were very insulted)

The "white chick" is referring to how Michael Jackson's skin has changed from brown to a pale white. The reason why his skin changed is because of an illness called vitiligo, which rips pigmentation from the skin and causes it to change color. Michael Jackson had such a severe case of vitiligo that it took over most of his body, and he decided it would be easier to change to the lighter shade than covering his entire body in make-up. There is evidence that he had two-toned skin in some behind-the-scenes pictures of Michael in between the "Thriller" and "Bad" era.

This same disease is the reason why Michael has become lighter and lighter, starting with "Bad" to the present, where he is very pale. The disease makes him vulnerable to sun cancer if he receives too much exposure to the sun, which can kill him. That's why he's walking around with an umbrella most of the time.

Please understand that it's not fair or right to insult someone because of a disease this severe. MTV keeps telling its viewers to not judge by the color of someone's skin, but it doesn't even take it's own advice! I, as an African-American, and as a person who knows people afflicted with vitiligo, am very insulted. MTV has no right to determine everyone's ethnicity.

Please write a complaint at:

You Tell Us

For those who are reluctant, please take this into mind: if you don't stop it now, and if they're willing to do this to someone as rich and powerful as Michael Jackson, imagine what everyone's willing to do to you! Speak now! Or, speak too late.

white chick is probably one of the nicer terms I could think of to describe him.

Michael Jackson is way too weird to defend unfortunately. Weird people tend to draw attention and have jokes made about them. The late night guys and others do it all of the time plus they constantly make fun of other famous people too. I don't see that MTV did anything wrong.

He's got a disease that's far worse than vitiligo... And he's brought 99% of his problems on himself by some off the wall behaviour. Sorry, I don't have much sympathy for him. Had it been someone like Bill Cosby or Oprah Winfrey, you'd get my utmost support. They've conducted themselves in a manner condusive to being given respect. MJ has not.

I personally am offended by everything that goes on at MTV. Therefore it is blocked out so me nor my kids has to be victim to its low moral standards.

Not meaning to preach here, but if you really want them to take notice, stop watching. Shows like those shown on channels like MTV and other junk channels help to keep racial tensions stirred. They help to break down a society that should be one of the most peaceful nations in the world.

I am a christian white male who gets just as offended by those shows. The videos they show only exploit women and demoralize them. Young people are influenced by this mess. The promotion of violence is outraging as well.

I went to the You Tell Us sight just to see what it was. My thoughts are they get you in there and positive or negative reaction, either way, they get a reaction. They get people intrigued. They get them watching. They get results and their advertisers know it. It is a money game.

Again not meaning to preach. But as my father has always said, if you go to a restaurant and the food or service is bad, dont stand up and gripe and complain, just dont go back. This hurts them a lot worse than the words spoken.

As for the remarks, I am sorry that it hurt you and touched a place that left a mark. We all have those sensitive places in our hearts and its a shame that people and corporations will say or do anything these days to make a buck, no matter who it hurts. If what was said becomes controversial, then MTV has won. They will get all kinds of exposure, and their ratings will soar.

Tell your friends what you saw, how it made you feel and you refuse to watch MTV anymore. Ask if they will join you. You can count on me and my family to not watch.

This is how I determine we all will be heard the loudest.

From one black female to another I just want to say -THIS IS SOOO OUT THERE!!!!

Seriously if you look at all the black and white entertainers out there, you have to admit they all poke fun at Micheal Jackson.

For the Wayan brothers to become upset -I don't believe it. They make fun of Micheal all the time. Think back to Scarey Movie 3 and In Living Color.
Also, they can't be too upset since their profiting off of a movie where they dress up as two WHITE GIRLS.

Come on now sometimes people can take stuff to far to the left.

Sorry your friend/family member has vitiligo, but you can't expect everyone to cowtow and walk on egg shells because of it.

I can't defend Michael Jackson either. Like others said he has worse problems than vitiligo.

As far as MTV.
1. It's hypocritical for MTV has a stop smoking campaign going on at all of the schools in this country, yet 4 of the 7 people on "The Real World" as smokers.

2. Is it really PC these days to even have a movie called "White Chicks," and why would MTV even promote it.

"White Chick" is an offensive movie and idea anyway. Can you imagine how much uproar there would be if a white male dressed up and spoofed a black teenager? As for the posting topic - As much as I dislike Michael Jackson, I have to say that the prank is inappropriate and insensitive to anyone with this real disease.

Your right, it isn't nice to insult people. But I think Jackson has enough lawyers to defend himself already. I wouldn't waste my breath on the him.

Eight paragraphs, Jimmy, between these two phrases, all my feelings exactly, could not have said my thoughts any better. Right on target, Jimmy.

When Michael Jackson quits trying to turn himself into a white woman, I'm sure people will quit calling him one.

As a black christian female, I don't buy into women are being exploited and demoralized. These women made the choice to AUDITION FOR THE VIDEOS AND SHAKE THEIR BUTTS and GRINDING HALF NAKED INFRONT OF A CAMERA.

They have to learn the steps and the moves. These women are given the choice to either perform or not. They didn't have to do but they chose to do it. No one put a gun to their heads so again they made the choice to degrade and demoralize themselves.

It's not only MTV but BET,Vh1 and other Video channels. These women made their choices knowing full well what they were getting into.

Too young to remember "Soul Man" I take it

I agree w/ the posters that say MTV is garbage television, that's why I change the channel. I'll let others decide whether or not they want to watch....

I agree with Pongo69. The women who are being demoralized and exploited obviously don't have a problem with it...if they don't care... why should I care? It's simple, if you don't like the videos or whatever else is on don't watch the channel. That is why they have all those buttons on the remote control. If you don't like what is on the tv - turn the station.

I think America has lost it's sense of humor. It seems to me that people sit around and watch tv just so that they can find something to complain about. So what if they made fun of Michael Jackson? It was a joke, I'm sure he'll get over it. I'm overweight but I don't start calling tv stations and writing letters to the editor every time someone overweight is made fun of. I was always taught when I was growing up of a little saying that starts something like...Sticks and stones..

You can't please everyone all the time. No matter what you say or do, someone somewhere is offended by it. Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinions and they have a right to speak it, but once you have done so get over it and move on.

I'm not trying to single any one person out. This is just for the general population who think just because they don't like something it has to be changed.
