Kinda like how me being a former resident in Florida and spent much time vacationing in he ACTUAL caribbean makes the theme of Caribbean beach repulsive?
Yup I'd imagine just like that

So while this thread isn't about CCV, it seems like people are making comments so I will join in.
These "alternate studios" are likely primarily there because of a quirk in the architecture, but yes will primarily be used as a sales job. I also wonder if they are underestimating the number of studios that will be in place - with current point costs, a higher percentage of buyers buy-in for the studios. They discovered this with VGF and I would think there will be slightly more dedicated studios to come - otherwise the same issue will crop up here only worse because of the cabins... you might only have 10% of the available points in studios (70% or more in Cabins, 2 bedrooms and GV), while maybe 50% of the purchasing public is looking to stay in the studios. At the Poly, at least only 20% of the points are taken up by bungalows. I would be VERY nervous to buy here if I wanted a studio.
See...that kinda thing doesn't bother me...but I'm old school.
A point is a point to me...and the "point" is to move around. Booking at the 11 month window sucks...frankly. If I wanted a timeshare...I would have gone someplace nicer...frankly.
I love booking at the 11... you just have to own everywhere you want to stay...... want to buy some SSR points? Please?
Yeah... none of this is enough to make me get out the checkbook. It's still CBR....
I want more points...but there is no incentive for me not to buy resale...none whatsoever
I'm not sure there's anything Disney could do to convince me to buy direct - PERIOD.
However, I will reserve judgement on the appeal of the new location until it's actually, you know, built...
I have a problem with the criticism that "The Caribbean itself is much nicer than the CBR". Isn't this true of practically every resort theme? I recently pointed out on FB that you could spend $14,000 for a week in the Poly Bungalows, or instead take that $14,000 and FLY TO FIJI and stay in a true over water bungalows cheaper. I had a (wealthy) friend once tell me after staying at AKL that he would "rather just go on a real safari".
None of these resorts are meant to replace actually GOING to that location. They are just supposed give you a little feel of it while on vacation. Our family doesn't really care to vacation in the Caribbean. We don't really like the beach, and all-you-can-eat resorts don't hold the appeal they used to. I actually enjoyed our stays at CBR in 2011 and 2013. The resort gives you a "feel" of the Caribbean. The pool was rather nice and large, we had good locations in both cases fairly central to Port Royale and actually enjoyed the food at the food court. The only negative I would give to either trip was that the buses often left long waits and high crowds.
So honestly, I would want to at the very least try out the resort if they build a DVC tower. It's more appealing to me than the idea of a second DVC at an existing resort ( a la CCV).
Wait a minute! I call a party foul on you. You talk about being disillusioned with a lot of things, costs sky-rocketting, upsells, etc. Why the desire for more points? Is the property itself still that appealing?I want more points...but there is no incentive for me not to buy resale...none whatsoever

YEAH!!!haha, LOL gets called out on this at least once a week. He and I are very similar. When he goes, he has a good time, but that doesn't mean he's disillusioned to the current business strategies and that doesn't mean just because he has a good time when he goes that he has to like the decline in consumer oriented policies.
Already having two DVC contracts, there is no incentive for me NOT to buy resale at this point either. Since I do hold two direct contracts I am already entitled to all the goodies. I just wouldn't be able to use resale at anything but Disney resorts. So, basically, this means rent out my GF and Poly contracts and use the resale to book my own stays.

...Fight the PowerGot an email today with an offer for $75 dollar gift card per night! Not sure if that's in addition to the $25 or if they're giving me $50 per night more. The email worked and now I have spending money!!!

I'm not under any falsKids getting bigger and more room would be nice.
Is anyone under the false impression that I boycott Disney world?
I don't...I've just altered my habits, spend less, and reject what is STUPID
No, no, no. Not under the impression, was just curious about the desire for more points, but I suppose going resale to get the 2 bedroom makes sense. I agree with you on the last line. I notice my wife and I have done the same things the last 2 years with regards to our trip. I too would like more (what with another kid on the way) but I'm also realistic in knowing my ability to both pay for them upfront as well as maintenance fees.Kids getting bigger and more room would be nice.
