Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

Conceptually this sounds like something I might like. My favorite thing about FP+ was knowing before I left home that I had FP lined up for several of our favorite attractions.

The big question will be what the availability will be like, especially if you have a shorter trip. Even if you log in at zero minute (whatever it is) 7 days in advance, will you have trouble getting anything for the most popular attractions, like what happened with FP+ for the first few days of your trip.

Maybe having to pay extra for these things will mean there will be more availability than there was for FP+.

I'll also be watching for details about park hopping. I expect that the first 3 advance picks will have to be in one park. But, after you use one I wonder if you can then book in a second park.

I don't have a trip planned until at least January, but I will be watching the Dis, Touring Plans, and Thrill Ride Data to see how this is working.

I'm so excited for this change. There are hardly even 3 rides in each park with unbearably long lines anyway. If I can guarantee the 3 I don't want to stand in like for I'm golden. It's better than what is happening now where if I have to wait 4 hours after park opening my 3rd choice is gone.
Unfortunately, it looks like you will only be able to select one of those 3 long-line rides in advance, and most likely the other 2 will be gone before you can make another selection day of.

Urg. This happens during my trip. That will be very interesting. So we'll use G+ for the first part of the trip and then LL Multi Pass for the end of the trip. Being onsite will have no advantage for me.

I have no issues with G+. Hopefully this new system rolls out smoothly. I anticipate a lot of blue umbrella lines on those first few days. Maybe we can book a LL for the blue umbrellas!!!
Being onsite may be an advantage if they let you book for the new system seven days before it goes into effect. What I've seen doesn't make it clear whether the July 24 effective date is when you can start booking or when you can start using the passes that you pre-booked a week earlier.

EDIT: July 24 is the day you can start booking.

I'm gonna miss super stacking for evening rides using Genie+. But I do love being able to guarantee certain rides, and select the times in advance. Especially if it's coasters at night
I know it's too early to tell (obviously) but I predict this change will make touring HS in particular harder. I did stacking the last time I went there and it felt so good to have 4 LLs lined up before I physically entered the park.

According to Scott Gustin, the actual booking starts July 24th so you cannot book before that.

Yes, there will essentially be 3 tiers of attractions now. The old ILLs (now LL single), the new tier one for LL multi (similar to tiering with FP+ previously) in most parks, and then the 'regular' attractions. Not ideal......

Yep, we're back to tiers again.

This is GREAT news for offsite guests though, especially for EPCOT with Test Track closed.

I was literally planning on stacking for an HS evening in September, after spending the morning in party day MK. My concern isn’t having one less LL but the return of the old tiers. That’s what will make it harder imo. Walking in with three instead of four isn’t terrible, but only 1 of those four being an E ticket will suck. Will have to see what to do now.

That's a good point. Fingers crossed.

So we'll all figure out the new system on the day we want the rides, too. I haven't read everything yet. Do we know if we can book at midnight? Because if this all happens at 7 am it will be extra stressful. I'll still be at Disney, though, so I'll deal with the stress.

I was fine with FP+ and fine with G+. I'll make this work, too.

The removal of tiers was a huge plus for Genie+ (didn't mean to do a pun, I swear). It was one of the legit pros for me compared to Fastpass+.

It’s great news as someone who stays offsite though, as we’ll at least get one of the top tier rides.
