Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

We're arriving on July 27th. Does anyone know whether we will make our selections 7 days in advance or if we have to wait until July 24th when the new system launches? Hopefully the former as waiting until the 24th would negate any on-site advantage.

Genie+ is so engrained in my brain I can't even remember how FP+ worked before. So I imagine the 120 minute rule will go away completely then, since it will probably always be a rolling up to 3 limit. I think that's how it worked before? So no more stacking more than 3 probably, which is a slight bummer but I'm happy to give that up to be able to pre-purchase and pre-plan and no more 7AM wake ups.

This looks like the old FastPass system, only now you will pay for it. This looks like a huge step backwards in my opinion. One park per day? And IF you're lucky enough to snag something good once everyone else already staying on property snags theirs at the 7 day mark, there will be absolutely nothing good left the day of once you scan into your first LL. This looks really terrible.

Super curious how annual passholders feel about the change. Genie+ was great in the sense that it (with a few exceptions) put everybody on a level playing field every morning. It was great for people who don't like to plan their park days too far in advance.

I remember taking a trip back in 2015 and had no clue about FastPass+ (guess I assumed the old Fast Pass system was still in place so we just showed up with zero knowledge) and that you could do it so far in advance. I made sure to utilize it properly during our 2019 trip, but I digress. It sure would have been really nice to have Genie+ instead of FastPass+ on that 2015 trip.

This system appears to be a happy medium, but now we are DVC members (not annual passholders yet) and I'm not sure I like the idea of basically committing to a park ahead of time once again, especially right after they got rid of the Park Reservation system for date-based tickets.

We’re arriving on the 28th and I had the same question.

In addition, do I read correctly that the multi pass is only for 1 park per day? We like to park hop and I’m not thrilled about losing the ability to book in 2 parks each day.

We also arrive on the 27th. I think we can only make our selections on the 24th.
This new feature should have started on the 20th instead lol.

I’m thrilled I don’t have to wake up at 7am the entire trip!

It will be interesting to see if that lack of availability costs them in same day last minute sales.

Last few trips we had DAS. I think we won't be approved this trip. So was planning on buying genie + on our big park days. Meaning maybe 4 days of 10 days. Other days will be more let's go in see a show and fireworks and we are done. But what if we wake up and the day isn't going to be as wonderful as we thought 3 weeks ago. Are you locked in?

Yep. But the less people buy it everyday, the better it will work over FP+. This could make quite a difference.

There’s going to be alot of people in that group ‘not buying every day’.

Nooo!! After our trip. Good news for others. Was so hoping this would drop around our trip time.

Under Fastpass+, you pre-booked three and then had to tap into all three before you could book one more. You then had to tap into that before booking another, etc.

Once you've redeemed your first ride, you can make another selection at that same park or make a selection for another park. So, you'll still get to park hop with the service, but you can't make selections at different parks for the same day in advance.

Agree. Weren't initial Genie+ numbers something like 50%? If this is like old FP+ but only 50% of people buy in then that is a big difference.

I would imagine they will let us pay more for an option to park hop with our passes.
