Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

ok, so after reading several pages of the thread, my question is:

What is the likelihood of being able to book a second 1st tier attraction AFTER you used the first one on the day of the visit? I assume is close to zero?
To increase the likelihood, is better to schedule the top tier attraction is early as possible in the day so you can tap in ASAP and have more time to schedule a 2nd tier 1 attraction?

Like epcot for example, you pick Remy prior to the visit, you ride remi, chances of getting Frozen after you rode remi are almost zero?

Thanks

Can someone please clarify when and how much you can modify your choices and times for your LL passes.

Can you modify before you enter the park?
Can you modify your choices/times even more once you have entered the park?
I've read through all these pages and I'm still not sure. Thanks

This is a "it all depends" question. The past few days - albeit low crowds, some of that weather-related - almost all rides had LL availability well into the afternoon. Ones that booked up were Remy, TBA and SDD. Frozen and other "headliners" had spots, which could be late in the day of course.

Doesn't matter what tier your first LL is - once you tap in you can pick any other available ride in any park.

To get a better sense I would check the app and poke around prior to your booking window.

ah, I thought you can only hold one tier one attraction at a time. So that rule is just for booking in advance?

Yepper.

I just checked Epcot, for example. At 10:30 the only sell-out is Remy. Frozen has spots - 7PM, but still I bet if you refreshed or looked for "drops" that could move up. So if you booked your first LL at park open, and tapped in before 10, you could have grabbed Frozen today.

You absolutely can modify your choices day of. And you can make your selections overlap, even to the point it seems of having multiple ones have the exact same arrival time.

As to how much you can do this in advance - I am not sure if that's been settled on yet. It seems you can, but with much less flexibility. Perhaps someone with real world experience can weigh in here.

I would suggest choosing your tier one in the park you have chosen and your tier twos at that park at the same time. You will have 5 minutes to close the deal. Then when you get to the park, the minute you tap in to your first ride(your tier 1) you can then start immediately modifying your tier twos if you haven’t done so prior to arriving.

If you are park hopping, after your first tap-in, you can choose a tier one or more tier twos at any other park after your first tap-in. I pre-purchased ILLs in 2 different parks immediately after my initial booking of the tier 1and tier 2s. I wanted to be sure that I got those rides.

I just did the same thing just so I could book my MPLL selections earlier.
One thing to note is ticket prices are based on dates. When I checked and called to change I noticed a minor price increase. Was 21 bucks total for five tickets.
Secondly, you do lose ability to take a day off if bad weather or ill. So if you wanted to you could extend trip by a day and take a day off, going a day later. If your dates are firm as in getting on an airplane then this is a moot point.
Let me tell you. Even changing a day earlier helps with getting ll. They are selling like hotcakes and this plan helped me.
Even better - if you wanted to upgrade to an AP you could buy a 10-day ticket and put the 4 days you want to go at the end of the validity period. Then you could book 13 days before your first park day and even get an advantage over some resort guests. Then do the upgrade near the end of your trip. There's a risk that APs would increase or that they stop selling them. Also your AP would need to cost more than a 10-day ticket. For me that's no issue since I'm out of state and can only get Incredi-pass.

another question:

so the day you can make the selections for MPLL is the first day of the multiday ticket and not the day of your resort check in?

I will be at WDW Boardwalk on Feb 8th, but my ticket starts at Feb 5th 2025 (it was cheaper to buy few days later). So I can make the selections 7 days earlier from Feb 5th, correct?

No, the window opens 7 days prior to the day you check into your resort.

Also your note is confusing "it was cheaper to buy a few days later" but you say your tickets starts on the 5th and you check in on the 8th.

"When staying at Disney Resort hotels or other select hotels, Guests can purchase Lightning Lane passes—and choose experiences and arrival windows—starting 7 days before the first day of their Resort stay, for their length of stay (up to 14 days)."

Has anyone figured out when the drops occur?

I’ve only used LLMP for one day (7/25) and there was a big drop around 2:12 at DHS. Is it still the same?

It is 7 days before your resort check-in, or 3 days before the start date of your dated ticket, whichever is sooner. For you, it will be 7 days before resort check-in. For someone doing an offsite/onsite split stay whose ticket starts more than 4 days before their resort stay, the 3 days before ticket start date would be the earlier date. It can get very complicated for people mixing offsite and onsite stays.

Considering they got rid of the rolling advance window and changed the cancellation policy to 8 days instead of 5, it seems like it will be less of an issue, but I could be wrong.
Depends on how much money people are willing to throw at getting their LLMP picks I guess! I wouldn't do it but some folks have money to burn.

It would be easier to manipulate the start date of your ticket to be as early as possible while still covering your park days. Also once you get past 5 days or so, the marginal cost of adding days goes down dramatically. So if going solo you could just add a few extra days to boost your eligibility window.

Isn't the 7 days based on resort check-in day, rather than ticket media? How would manipulating the ticket help?

For onsite, yes. For offsite it's 3 days before the start date on your ticket. A 4 day ticket can be used 7 days from the start date, so you could select an earlier start date and do 4 consecutive park days at the end of the window and essentially book 6 days out instead of 3 days. If you do park hopper plus or water park and sports you get an 8 day window so you could book 7 days before your first park day, same as a resort guest who was going to the parks on their arrival day.

I have a split stay coming up next week. My LL window opens tomorrow.

First stay is 8/14-8/17. Two day PH.
Second stay begins 8/17 booked under a different res # but at the same hotel. Seven day PH.

I assume that tomorrow, I can only book LL for the first stay. I’ll find out in the morning but just trying to prepare ☺️
