Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

You should be prepared to book all of your LLMP / LLSP park days tomorrow. Split Stays have not been an issues as long as you don't have a gap in your on-site stay.

Dave
OK I’ll plan for that, thanks.

Question. We have family joining us halfway through. They’re staying on site but they don’t arrive until the 19th. I’m not going to be able to book for them, right? So I’ll have to go in later and try to get them times close to ours?

I have a split stay coming up next week. My LL window opens tomorrow.

First stay is 8/14-8/17. Two day PH.
Second stay begins 8/17 booked under a different res # but at the same hotel. Seven day PH.

I assume that tomorrow, I can only book LL for the first stay. I’ll find out in the morning but just trying to prepare ☺️
I have to ask, why did you buy 2 separate tickets. Wouldn't it have been cheaper to just buy a 9 day park hopper connected to your first reservation?

Haha yes. We added on extra nights (to the beginning of the stay) at the last minute and I panicked when I was on the phone doing that. Not sure I can fix it now.

I feel like we're going to start seeing the campsite issue again 😬
They'd likely have to keep the campsite for the length of their trip otherwise they could have their LLs cancelled out from under them- and just cancelled, not even refunded lol.

What will happen to my Lightning Lane Multi Pass if I cancel or modify my Resort hotel reservation?
Lightning Lane Multi Pass is nonrefundable. If you cancel or modify your Resort hotel reservation after you’ve already purchased a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, then your selected attractions and arrival windows are subject to cancellation based on eligibility rules.
When you become eligible to make Lightning Lane selections again, then you can use the My Disney Experience app to choose available Lightning Lane Multi Pass experiences and arrival windows for the pass you previously purchased.

ouch that would be expensive! Call Disney Ticketing NOW and see what they say. It will probably be rather cheap to add on two days to the weeklong ticket and hold that 2 day ticket in reserve to apply towards tickets on a future trip. I say now so it doesn't screw with your LLs.

Interestingly enough they don’t mention single passes after cancellation - maybe they don’t cancel those.

So based on what I am reading here, MPLL is an inferior product compared to genie plus if you decide last-minute to go to a different park, correct?

Because if I decide on that day that I don't want to go to MK anymore, but instead I want to go to HS, with genie plus I just needed to wake up a bit earlier, pay for genie, and make the selections.

Also, I had the opportunity to go to the park like AK and decide if Genie plus would be worth or not based on the crowd levels.

With MPLL, if I decide to make a last minute decision on which park to visit that day, I am screwed. Almost everyone already made the choices 3-7 days prior to me, so the chances of finding good rides are way lower .

Am I missing something? mPLL is like a "park reservation" in disguise, since the MPLL is park specific.

Not missing anything. People who want to change their park last minute are losers under MPLL as they will have very limited options.

I started to modify my selections today. Just doing HS to see how it goes.

Do I have this correct- it is good to get the notation “you have overlapping plans at this time”

Depending on your party makeup you may be able to add them to your reservation but if more than 2 adults are in the room it would be an extra charge.

Well it depends on what the overlap is... It will allow you to overlap your ADRs so make sure you allow time to eat.

I actual cancelled some ADR to give me openings on park days. I have 6 reservations and will be flexible for park days.

This is only for times associated with the rides I have selected

Just double- checking on this. Does anyone have personal experience to report?

I'm asking because back in the old FP+ days I was fine making my selections ahead of time, but FP+ was free. Now if I, say, purchase MPLLs for several days and end up not being able to go to the parks one of those days, I'm just out of luck and it's money down the drain?

Also, I've been at a park where I had an ILL$ booked and the ride was down and didn't come back up for hours and I was able to get a refund for it.

I have to book my MPLLs at the beginning of September and I've started getting concerned about this since life is unpredictable.
I requested and received a refund on LLSP in HS and LLMP in MK.

I approached Guest Services politely, explained that our day had not gone as expected (which was completely true) and was given a refund both times. I had not redeemed any LLs on the days I was requesting the refunds.

That's part of why I'm not loving the new system. I had been enjoying the flexibilty now that we no longer have to make park reservations.

We take 12-day trips. We plan out our first few park days but towards the end we prefer to make decisions based on what we missed or want to do again. Sometimes we want to decide later which days will be our non-park days.

No you can't book for them unless they are staying with you on your reservation. They can book 7 days before their resort stay.

Yes you will be able to modify your LL times limited only by availability. Once they book their LLMP / LLSP selections if they are linked to you in MDE as Friends & Family then you can modify everyone as one group if you so desire.

Dave

I really only want one LLMP, for MK. The main purpose is to get Tiana for the grandkids. Personally, I don't think you need the mp for any park except DHS. If Tiana becomes a standby, I'll not even get the mp. That said, our MK day is day #2, and I'm fully prepared for there to be no availability. Would it be better to get the mp, grab another Tier 1 attraction and hope you can modify if Tiana pops up or do nothing until I happen to see a Tiana pop up before purchasing the pass? We are going to the Halloween party and I would love for Tiana to be standby, but not holding my breath.

I think it’s good. Based on how we tour, I want 20-30m between LL returns. I would say you want to allow 15m to wait in a LL and 5m to ride, and 5-15m to walk to the next ride (depending on how far apart the rides are). If you are able bodied and active, I think you want at least your first 3 rides all starting about 15-20 from each other so that you can quickly tick them off and pick up additional high quality LL returns.
For example, you might want HM at 9:15, Pirates at 9:30, and Tiana at 9:50, on the assumption that you rope drop something quickly, make it to HM around 9:20, to Pirates around 9:45, and then get on Tiana around 10AM… with this touring plan you’d probably be able to get all 3 of those replenished with a Tier 1 ride (especially if you can park hop or will be in the parks late).

You could always try for the VQs for TBA if you can’t get a LLMP. Might be a good backup
