Pixie Hollow id Dead!!!!

I'm still waiting to hear it from Robo too.

But in the mean time, my DS likes the fairies, now of course he is only 4, so I'm sure that will be going away soon. But there is some appeal to small boys. And his favorite is Silvermist, not Tink. Now if Tink wore blue, then she would be his favorite...it's all about the color. :)

I don't think you will hear from Robo regarding this subject. Robo isn't big on rumors, he is all about the facts. Thats what makes him the all knowing Robo.

I have to agree!!! I"m actually relieved if this is true! As much as I love princesses, its beginning to become too much!

And add me to the Darkwing Duck, DuckTails, or Rescue Rangers (even though that isn't relevant to kids now)

I would love to see some classic disney stuff. Even though it might not be as relevent to today kids if they made attractions around the characters they would come back "in style" I think.

Talk about shooting the messenger!

All I can say is, no wonder the info was posted everywhere else before anyone dared to post it here.

So if we don't hear from Robo, then it can't possibly happen. :)

As if it were fact, he'd chime in.

So that settles it, Pixie Hollow is here to stay until we get the Robo seal of approval.

Excuse me for breaking in, but when is all this expansion supposed to be completed?

TIA!

For those of you who can't believe this "because they've revealed all the plans and started construction," you should brush up on your Disney history. Disney plans are in a constant state of revision and flux - there were many versions of the original Disneyland drawn up and released from long before groundbreaking up until opening day.

Check out WestCOT sometime, or Disney's America.

And don't forget, Walt had an entire plan for EPCOT Center all ready to go, and he outlined the whole thing on prime time TV!

My guess that Fantasyland will undergo a significant transformation, but it will eventually look quite different from the plans originally released.

I hope this means more love for the rest of the MK, possibly looking at options for AK (Beastly Kingdom anyone?), expanding the back of DHS (more Pixar), and maybe even an eventual 5th gate.

Why spend all of that money on a Fantasyland project that was geared towards a very specific demographic? Remember the threads here last year about "I hope they do something for boys, too..."? Well, looks like they're doing it!

First as far as I know none of those you mentioned got off the drawing board.
Including Walts idea for EPCOT

Gotta love how one person can start a thread in rumors section one week
and the next week it's here in general discussion as fact.
All without any official word from anyone, just some online blogs who have no official connection to disney.

I know Disney does change plans on projects but I find it hard to believe they will clear out a whole area start construction on an area inside the parks, then cancel half the plan.
(Yes they started the early years of Pop and left it standing but that was outside the parks.)

I'll wait to reserve judgement till something a bit more concrete comes out.

Sorry if I missed something. But if they expand Frontier Land instead ( if I read that right) in place of Pixie Hollow does that mean the Fantasy Fair area is getting pushed left into where Pixie Hollow will be and the FL area will be where FF would have been since its closer in locale to the original FL.

What I mean is where would they put the Frontier Land area ? Leave toon town area and just bulldoze out some extra land to the right of Thunder Mountain going back ? Or shift everything right ?

Anyone seen any reworked plans ?

I wouldnt be suprised either really. And I think it would be a good move to but something more gender neutral in to balance out the Fantasy Fair area.

And including the FL expansion, at this point (other than a hole in the ground).

I haven't made any judgments yet, and take this as rumor.

Seems to me that those who have been completely dismissive are the ones who have already rushed to judgment.

I'm coming to this party late... but there seems to be some key information missing...

While I did not look at the sources (slap my hand), all it sounds to me is that PH is "dead" at MK. It was reported over a month ago that the Fairies are being moved to a different park once Toon Town closes in 2011 (no room in Expo hall as originally announced). Based on the recent discussions on this new location, perhaps Disney would rather place PH permanently in their new home, instead of moving them back to MK in two years??

Instead of assuming the fairies are gone, it would be more productive to discuss their possible relocation. I'm personally excited about their new location... I hate them stuck back there in a circus tent.

The old Skyway station near PPF might be converted into a Tink Meet & Greet.

Disney thinks the Skyway is an excellent idea for a Meet and Greet - in fact, a very extensive price estimation was made several years ago to figure out how much it would cost to transform the location and bring everything up to code. The final decision - too much money.

They do, however, continue to use the ground area (stroller parking) for special meet and greets as no one is physically on the structure.

They just recently reconsidered that location for a Rapunzel meet and greet as well... again... too much money.

Of course, creating an entire themed Pixie Hollow as originally announced is no cheap task, so perhaps that funding will finally be realized and the area will be transformed!

Excuse me for breaking in, but when is all this expansion supposed to be completed?

Initially, the first phase was announced to be completed in 2012, with Pixie Hollow to follow in 2013.

I think it is highly possible that MANY changes will be made from the original plans and that it is very possible that they will get rid of PH. Honestly, I think disney releases much of the info that they do so that they can receive feedback from the public. They will then use that feedback to tweek as needed. Perhaps they received too many complaints that FLE will be too girly and this is going to be their fix for that complaint.

lol I totally agree. I think Robo is so loved because he is also so smart.
He stays out of politics , rumors , and stroller threads.

Plus he has those darn fancy maps and a kick butt monorail collection.

And if your nice he will tell where the secret path at AK is!

Oh that Robo ! :worship:

That'd be fine with me, there's way too much little-girl stuff going in now anyway. I'm betting most WDW vistors are not little girls or parents of little girls - that's just where the current management thinks the most money can be made. And if they still think so by the time they start building this thing, they'll build a whole castle for the fairies.

Yep, this is very encouraging for us. My daughter is too old to enjoy the princesses and my son is...well...a boy.

I would LOVE too see other stuff in Frontierland.

Um no. I said I reserve judgement till more concrete info comes out.
If you want to base your idea on blogs, go ahead, I'll wait.

And there's a huge difference between annoucing plans for an expansion of FL and starting contruction.
And Walt standing infront of a painting on tv saying this is what he would like someday (his plan for EPCOT)

I have no inside information, and no idea what is true or false, I just wanted to chime in my opinion. I don't think that WDW is too "girl centered." I think that most things are actually gender neutral. That being said, I'm not sorry to see PH scrapped. I would really rather see more attractions (rides/shows) than another meet and greet or walk through to a meet and greet. I think that there are so many things WDW can do with this area incorporating fantasy land and frontier land. There is the Cars franchise and Toy Story to name a few. Actually Toy Story would be a nice "bridge" between the two!

I didn't say you, did I? I said "those who have been completely dismissive."

And no, there really isn't that big of a difference. At this point, they've got land cleared and a foundation poured for the Little Mermaid. Plenty of time to revise plans for the rest of the project. I also wouldn't be surprised to see changes based on 3 facts:

1. Harry Potter is exceeding expectations at IoA and I'm sure that's got Disney thinking;
2. Princess & the Frog and the Tink movies haven't captured the popular imagination to the extent that Disney expected/anticipated;
3. Tom Staggs replacing Jay Rasulo as Resorts & Parks Chairman - the new guy always likes to have his hand in the mixing bowl.

Is it that hard to believe that changes might be on the horizon?

I also didn't say anywhere in this thread whether I believed the rumor or not. Here's what I said: "My guess that Fantasyland will undergo a significant transformation, but it will eventually look quite different from the plans originally released."

The list of attractions, lands and parks that have changed from drawing board to construction site to grand opening is very, very long.

(By the way, IIRC, weren't you one of those who was just sure that the Fantasyland plans that were leaked last fall were fake? I'm not being snarky - please correct me if I'm wrong.)

EDIT: OK, now I'm being snarky... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2231242 :)
