We will be at HH Sunday-Friday (5/25-30) and I just checked weather.com. It shows thunderstorms (isolated, scattered, and "thunderstorms") quite a bit of the week. This will be our first long trip to HH and I was hoping for good weather. I know that FL has the "pop-up" type of storms in the summer. Is this true for HH also? If we do have a lot of rain.... any suggestions from the veterans?

and I hope the weather is good. We had a terrible vacation in March. It rained or was cloudy everyday. I hope you fare better. Have a safe trip.

I would be more concerned about the temperatures than the rain.

Yes, HH is subject to sudden showers and storms, kind of like Florida. Unless there is thunder, the pools usually stay open even if it's raining. (Just not very good for working on your tan, however.)

If it is raining too hard for the beach, I'd take the opportunity to check out all the cute little shops that are all over the island and, of course, the outlet mall! You can even plan a trip to Savannah, Beaufort, or Charleston. (Yes, those would probably be better in nicer weather, too, but we can never seem to pry ourselves off Hilton Head Island in nice weather!!)

Our last THREE trips (Thanksgiving, New Years, and spring break) have all had less than ideal weather, but we never found ourselves bored. We were more than glad to have the chance to just relax and explore things that we've never done before.

Have a great trip. Can you tell I'm wishing I was going too??? ;)

Disneyaholic, thanks for the suggestions. I was hoping someone would tell me that it could very well be similar to FL showers/storms. I also have tried to tell myself that this would force me to relax a little more....but who wouldn't rather have sunshine?? :) Just looking forward to the trip!

I'll be there June 1-6 and hoping for good weather too! Don't stress about the weather reports. We went last March and they were absolutely wrong(the weather reports)--I think the high temp was supposed to be like 60, with showers. We lucked out and got 80 and SUN for a good part of the week.:D
So I am not even really paying attention this time.

Have a great time!

Here's some pixie dust for you anyway, in case that helps make your weather good.

Whatever happens, have a great trip!

Sending great wishes for good weather. We went the first week of June last year. It was HOT!! Occaisional, brief showers. Dry overall. Heading on over for the 2nd week in June on 6/6. Hope you have a wonderful vacation!!!!

Thanks everyone! It always helps to have others rooting for you! :D By the way, the forecast seems to change almost hourly--so why am I stressing? Silly, silly......

We went to HH early June 2001. The first half of our trip was very overcast and we were a bit disappointed.....AT FIRST. We quickly realized that we would have gotten completely fried if it wasn't for these clouds. The last part of our trip was sunny and it became very hot. We kind of wished those clouds were back!!!!

HAve a wonderful trip...we will be there early June!!

We will also be at Hilton Head from Saturday through Monday. I planned a shopping trip at the outlets with my two daughters on Saturday. Got to hit that Disney Store. Then on Sunday, my oldest daughter will leave for my parent's beachhouse near Charleston. My husband and six year old son will be down on Sunday. Please say hi if you recognize us. I would love to meet someone from this board. My husband is six four and I am five four with a ten year old girl and a six year old son. Right now the area stations are predicting good weather for Saturday through Monday. Of course that could change as we had some really hot weather already this month, but this week has been cooler with rain. More rain tomorrow night and hi of mid 70s. We live about 80 miles from HH and this forecast was for Charleston. They are usually similiar. Have a safe trip down.

we have never been to HHi when it has not thunderstormed.
we still have some time of sun and fun. we will not be there to bring the bad weather with us. it is here in NC right now. It rains so hard when we are there, the paths are in 5 inches of water. I have to get a buggy and load every one up. we love HHi and the rain goes away.

Just checked the weather.com again (obsessive, aren't I?) and some of the days show isolated and scattered thunderstorms. This seems to change so frequently and I'm going to hope that they "scatter" and "isolate" elsewhere!

BeckyV, we will check in on Sunday--5 "girls" (includes me and 68yo mom!) and DH. We're all rather short (5'3" down!) and my DH is 5'10. By the way, I didn't know there was still a Disney Store outlet at HH. Are the outlet stores nice? We're not true-blue shoppers but sometimes we like to check out new malls, etc.

We're just happy to be on vacation! Can't wait to get there! We'll be in Savannah Saturday night. We've never been and hope to get a little taste of what's to do there. (And then venture back another time!)

I almost forgot this very important question--how humid is it at this time of year? That will dictate how I pack as much as the temps! (We're only bringing 2 sweatshirts and 2 jeans--the rest are shorts and sleeveless/short sleeves.) It's in the mid 60's here but windy and not very humid. I'm sure those 80's will feel WONDERFUL!!! :)

I was with benhannah'a mom last year the first week of June at HH. It was very HOT and very HUMID. Shorts weather the whole time. Actually more like swimsuit weather the whole time. I am sure it will be warm....but then again the weather where I live is usually pretty warm by now and it has been quite cool this spring!

No matter....have a great time!!

Our weather is humid most of the months of May through October. The outlet is the Character Carnival or something and has merchandise from the parks. It is not a Disney Store Outlet. We really enjoy the outlets. You should pass them on your right in Bluffton before you arrive on the island. They are the Hilton Head Outlets I and II. They have also have a website and lots of stores. There is a sidewalk sale from Saturday through Monday. We live about 80 miles from a large city and have to travel to shop. My daughter is out of college so this is a treat for the three of us.
Enjoy Savannah. Hope to run into you at HH.
