Hey y'all!

I really want a pistol grip to help me stabilize my camera for photos and video in the parks. Has anyone used one at Disney? I am afraid of ordering one and then finding out that it falls under "selfie stick" and is banned. I don't want to waste the money on it if I can't use it at Disney.

Thanks for the help!

No problem with pistol grips. I've used them plenty of times, not only on smaller cameras, but attached to big 300mm lenses too. Selfie sticks are cracked down because they stick out several feet from the user, becoming a hazard to others...pistol grips stay right with the camera body - so no one should give you any problems at all with those.

Thank you so much! I'm ordering one now!

Just wondering.... which pistol grip are you looking at? Is it the Bush Hawk?

I think the OP is likely looking at the much smaller video grips that can attach to the tripod mount on the camera - rather than those bigger rifle-stock type which probably wouldn't go over as well at Disney.

The one I use is by Barska:

And others similar to that. I actually use mine more for additional handling with long lenses like 300mm F4, 150-600mm, etc...by attaching the pistol grip to the lens collar, I can keep my left hand on the grip and right on the camera for shooting - same concept as the Bush Hawk above, but much smaller and lighter without the shoulder stock...here's an old shot of it attached to my 300mm F4 and DSLR:

I bought the photography and cinema pistol grip - it looks almost identical to the compact one above. I paid like $15 for it on amazon. What I really needed was extra stability while filming - I am in the process of learning to vlog with just my small point and shoot camera - Nikon Coolpix AW130 because it is compact and waterproof. I still can't quite make myself carry my DSLR and equipment around in the parks. :upsidedow In my testing shots, I was shaky, so I'm hoping this helps!
