On arrival day, I was hoping to make an ADR for chef mickeys and then doing the pirates and pals voyage to see the fireworks.
All of this depends on when our flight actually gets on, so is it worth it to book? This is our first disney trip (kids 8 and 4 yrs old) and I was hoping to start the night with a bang! I just don't know how tired everyone will be :/

Its a good event.. Capt & Mr Smee before you go out and with PP on the dock when you return..

However. the only thing I would be worried about is if its your first day.. with 4 & 8 yo.. traveling and all the activities might make it very tiring..

My 15yo is tired when we get back...

Good luck!

Its our fave event in all of Disney ! We love Wishes Dessert party, but the Pirate and Pals takes the fun to another level !!!

I'm definitely a little nervous about the exhaustion level. I know they'll be tired, but I'm hoping their excitement will outweigh it. Maybe I'll slip tjem some red bull ;) (totally joking).

Awesome! That's what I needed to hear? Any suggestion on what time to make our ADR at chef mickeys to make it to the boat in time? Not sure what the travel distance is between the two or we might just have to do a quick service

I would try and book a 4:30-5:00 reservation--- they do a scavenger hunt before the festivities that is really fun, so you might want to do that as well--- enjoy !!!

We loved Pirates and Pals. Our kids were 4 and 6 last trip. Originally we were only supposed to do that on that day but we ended up flying in a day early so we spent the day at MK and the kids went to the Pirate's League then we walked over to CR that evening. It was so much fun! Our pirate who led our boat ride was so much fun and I really enjoyed the different view of the fireworks. We will definitely be doing this again.

You have to work backwards from the fireworks time. Assuming the latest fireworks (10:00), the P&P party starts at 8:45. If you check in at the podium by 8:30 you should be fine. Using that time as a reference the latest I would book Chef Mickey's is 6:00. It is only a 2 or 3 minute walk from Chef Mickey's to Pirates and Pals. When are you going? If you are less than 90 days out it might be a little tough to get the P&P reservations for a specific night.

They won't need Red Bull - there's enough sugary junk food to rev them up for the evening :)

Totally loved Pirates & Pals cruise. Last year was our first time - DD was then 8. Loved it so much we booked it again for this year's trip with two other families. Kenny the Pirate has a great review on his website (actually the reason why I booked it last year). DD dressed up like a pirate (and will be again this year).

It was nice to sit on the boat, not being pushed or shoved looking for a great viewing spot on Main Street. You get to meet Captain Hook & Smee & a surprise character when you dock.

I have to agree with the PP - your kids might be tired after a long travel day. Also, there are certain nights in which the cruise does not sail, so double check your dates.

Hope you have a great trip!!

It's definitely worth doing, but I'm not sure about the first day. We got back kinda late, so depending on where your staying and what not it could make for a late night. Plus, that might make them, ecspecially the 4 yo pretty tired for the next day. My 4 yo really enjoyed it though! I noticed a few kids on our boat asleep when we docked. And don't forget Peter Pan at the end so you will want them awake for that!

I would do it on the last night rather than the first. And I would not do it right after having a buffet dinner with all the snacks that will be available (that you paid for as part of the cruise).

This. We haven't done it yet, we have it booked to do when we go in June, but yes, it is a very late night. By the time you get off the boat, do the Peter Pan meet and greet, it's going to be around 11:30 before you leave MK. For my kids at least, that would be way too long of a day. And, they do provide many snacks which you likely won't be hungry for after having just eaten. If I were you, I'd do the ADR for my first night, so I don't have to cook after traveling, but then save the PIrates & Pals for another night.

Has anyone taken a toddler on this? I think my DS would love it, but am not sure there would be much for him to do? I'm not worried about the late night, we'd do it our first night and are on MST, so it would only be 9:30 or so for us.

I loved it! We went for my DS birthday when he turned 8 along with our 6 year old, and they had so much fun....but they both fell asleep before the fireworks! And missed Peter Pan, we tried waking them, but they just would not. Then by the time they were awake and realized they missed Peter Pan they were very upset. I wish we could have gotten them to take a nap earlier in the day or something, I feel like it was a let down for the kids:( But I already knew I had children who had a hard time staying awake late, other kids on the cruise seemed to do fine.

Thanks for all the input! We've got a year to plan, plenty of time to decide :)

I forgot about the time change!!! That will make it easier since we're coming from La

I just found out that pirates of the Caribbean ride will be closed when we visit the world in May ... insert sad face here ... my DS will be very disappointed. Maybe this will make up for it ... is this hard to book? Are there different times? My kids might have a hard time staying up too late ...

Personally, I would choose a night when I wasn't trying to make rope drop the next day. I would do arrival night if that was the case. By our last night, we are often too tired for fireworks :(

We absolutely loved the cruise. We did it when we were there in August. We had so much fun. Our Capt was fantastic - so so funny. Seeing the fireworks was second to the fun on the boat. The snacks were good - the kids loved the cake and ice cream bars. We can't wait to do it again.

Pirates and Pals is really fun, but I would not schedule it for the first night, especially after a 5+ hour flight. It's a pretty late night and, if you are staying anywhere other than a monorail resort, you will still have quite the trip back to your resort. I just think you may be setting yourself up for starting your trip absolutely exhausted. Plus, Pirates and Pals has a 48 hour cancellation policy. If your flight is delayed and you can't make it to the cruise, you will be out the entire cost of the event. I would suggest doing this later in your trip. It's a good last-night thing to do. Also, there are a TON of desserts at the party, so you may want to plan your dinner accordingly.

I didn't know they had snacks, so maybe we'll do something light that evening.
Thanks for all the input :)

I'm sure I'm overdoing it, I'm trying to decide which things are super important. The time change will help us I think, but my kids have never flown, not sure how they'll do
