Pirate & Princess Party Review - Don't Come Hungry!

Are they selling P&P party t-shirts? or any other party merchandise?

:) Teresa

Of course! They had a cute pink long sleeve knit tee shirt with a princess on the front and a pirate on the back. They also had 2 different pins. I am sure they had other pieces but those were the ones that caught our eye.

Does anyone know if the chocolate is safe for people with peanut/tree nut allergies??
I guess I haven't thought about this ahead of time, but if it is not, I will have to prepare my DD ahead of time...raisins will not be a :thumbsup2 alternative!

The candy barrells had hershey's kisses with almonds mixed in them so I wouldn't risk eating any of it if I had peanut allergies.

Also, if you didn't watch the fireworks in front of the castle, you missed Tinkerbell's Flight!!

There was also a long sleeve dark blue t-shirt with a pirate skull that said 1st Adventure 2007 on it. And an ugly two-sided event picture frame. One side for Princessess and one side for Pirates.

I am really curious, how many guests were dressed up in costumes? I am planing on dressing up, but don't want to go too crazy if no one is dressed up.

Does anyone know how early you can get in? When we went o Mickeys VMCP we got in at 3:30. Thanks--Misty

we were just discussing that! apparently early. I am so excited got some ressies for din din!

My children and I attended the P&P Party on Monday night. We arrived at MK about 3:40 and were told that we could not enter in costumes until 4:00. I objected and pulled out my APs but the woman would not allow us in. So, we headed down to the opposite gates...used our APs and got right in! I think they're being strict about not allowing folks to use the P&P Party tickets until 4:00.

Once we gained admission we headed to the Main Street Barber Shop for some paint and sprinkles (and a much needed haircut for my son!). Then we ate a Tony's at 5:00. In retrospect I would get a later supper reservation because we were out of Tony's by 6:00 with not a bunch to do until 7:30. However, there were plenty of rides that had no lines!

Oh, there are FREE strollers for those attending the party. Just go to the stroller rental area and they'll give you one with no problem.

There are not free photos as there have been in the past for different parties nor were there discount PhotoPasses.

You could meet Capt. Jack Sparrow in Adventureland. I thought my 15 year old daughter was going to die:love: We ducked in just as the rain started and it was over by the time we left! Capt. Jack was quite humorous and a great treat.pirate:

As mentioned before...."loot" lines were long to begin with but after the 10:30parade were 'nil. I would NOT allow my child to have any of the chocolate if there was a nut allergy issue. A good portion of the candy had nuts and wrappers were ripped on several of the candies we were given. However, that being said....it was really good candy!

The fireworks were worth the price of admission alone. Certainly make sure you're in front of the castle because some fireworks actually go off from the front! It was amazing...simply amazing!

The parade was quite good. Tinkerbell's appearance made the whole parade that much better!

My children rode BTMRR 11 times without getting off. I'm sure they could have gone longer if I'd have let them. No lines for anything that we saw.

Overall, I would have to say that the party was fun. However, it lacked character. I certainly think it was because it was the first one ever. Time will allow it to develop into an event all of its own. Also, Cast Members will become more comfortable with it as a unique event that has it's own personality.

Would I go again? Yes. Would I go again with expectations that rivaled the MNSSHP? No, not yet. Does the P&P Party have an amazing potential? You betcha.....

I would really have a problem with them not letting me in at 3:40 with an annual pass. If the park is open we are allowed in. I am glad you got in at another gate. Then how did you get your wristband?

Could someone tell me 'very specifically' exactly where Jack is doing a meet 'n greet? Want to line up early for that one!:thumbsup2 TIA !

We had to have seen you guys ALL NITE then because we were at the Barber Shop in line about 4:40pm (we were the last ones in line and the last customers of the nite) then my kids rode BTMRR back to back a bunch after the last parade. Were you with those 2 adorable little boys getting their first haircut?

As a former CM I noticed the amount of Disney upper management in the parks (Managers and VPs) for the event. They were EVERYWHERE!

We would definitely go again. :)

Hi All,

We went to the Pirate & Princess Party on Monday, too. And, although it was VERY wet for the first hour or so, it was fun. I have to agree with the coments about the lack of food, and the lines for the Treasure Spots much shorter after 10:00. We thought the Haunted Riverboat was a bit boring, as we couldn't hear the "loud" speaker from the top deck. We watched the Pirate Tutorial. It was cute. Four children were chosen to learn a few seconds of sword fighting by a pirate and "Capt. Jack", who looked the part but didn't sound the part. There were rumors all around that the REAL Capt. Jack, (Johnny Depp) was somewhere in the park, but we searched, and we didn't see him anywhere!!!:sad2:

As for costumes, many children were dresses up beautifully, as expected, but what was fun were the adults that were dressed up too. The three of us just wore princess crowns with our jeans and hoodies, but even that was cool because many CMs called us Princess as they handed the Treasures to us. So, if you want to get all dressed up, go for it. Just remember, if it rains like it did last Monday, your ball gown could get really heavy when it gets wet.

And, in addition to the long sleeve Tee shirts, pins, and picture frame, we also found a coffee mug in Downtown Disney that is black with Pirate and Princess WDW and a pink rose.

The parade and fireworks were fantastic!!!

We were at the P&P on Monday night as well, we came at 5pm and had dinner at CP then headed over to Tomorrowland and hit all the rides there with no wait, everything was a walk on! (speaking off topic, we did Stitch for the first time since it stopped being Alien Encounter and we were extremely disappointed, it actually seemed kind of boring... okay, back on topic)

At 7pm we headed over to Toon Town as I anticpiated long Princess lines and we were right. We saw Snow White and her Prince along with Dopey rather quickly, then moved over to the Princess Aurora line, she was there with her Prince, Minnie and Daisy Duck were also "mystery guests" in that line as well. During this time it POURED out and the rain pounded down on the roof. The lines were CRAZY long and we didn't get out of there until 8:45. We had no idea Pirate Mickey was in the Judges Tent and missed that. The Pirate Play area was also (temporarily, I think) closed when the rain finally let up. DH left my jacked on the (free rental) stroller so needless to say it was a very chilly night for me!

We waited FAR too long to see Ariel and Eric but my girls wanted to see her so badly, but then they got upset watching the other kids dancing at the Dance Party, I think they should have had a better system to move people along through the meet-n-greets, it seemed to take much longer than normal.

I saw the dance party going on in Cosmic Ray's and Lilo and Stitch were bopping on the dance floor there with all the kids.

We lost track of time and only caught the fireworks from the line to take pics in front of Cinderella's coach, I'm sure they were much better from in front of the castle, they were pretty cool where we were standing. Word of warning though, we had TONS of debris falling on us from the fireworks in this spot, the CM attending the line had to go to first aid as he got some in his eye. It was small ash particles as well as pieces as big as my hand. I was pretty surprised to see this, thankfully I don't think anyone was seriously injured.

We then headed over to see the parade and were able to grab great spots only ten minutes before the 10:30 parade. The parade was fabulous! The horse drawn carriages were beautiful, but there was one float with some kind of cart pulling (or pushing, I can't remember) it, even my DH was like.. "huh, what's that about?" The ghostly pirates scared my five year old and she ran around and hid behind the stroller. Their makeup was great! Tinkerbell was a total surprise to us, and she was adorable.

I'm sure when they get all the kinks worked out it will be much more festive, plus the rain put quite a damper on things as most of the CMs were saying how they planned to have many more characters out for random meet-n-greets. We saw several spots set up with backdrops and thrones that weren't being used.

I did see a lime green mickey head on a backpack ahead of us in line for Snow White when the party was just starting but I didn't get a chance to say hello, I think you had two DDs dressed up as Jasmine? I had my two DDs dressed as Snow White and Ariel.

We had a good time, but were TIRED and we had to come home yesterday (BOO HISS)

Oh, off topic a little bit... we wound up with an extra ticket for the party that was supposed to be for my MIL who didn't wind up coming and we gave it to a man standing out front of the MK around 4pm who was with his DW and small child. I'm assuming they had a ticket as she was dressed as a pirate but he didn't. He was pretty surprised that we gave away the ticket for free, but it was worth it to share the magic and pass along a little pirate: princess: pixiedust: dream granting ourselves!

I'm sad to be home:sad2:

My DDs were not dressed up in full costume but DD13 had on her Mickey Ears pirates/princesses hat and DD8 had her hair done at the Barber shop with pink gel and sprinkles. My friend and I both had on huge pink fuzzy Princess Crowns (we had matching ones for the kids but they didnt wear them) and I had to spend the evening riding in a manual wheelchair due to my recent surgery.

The only reason it stopped raining was because we left our ponchos in the room at OKW and ended up buying new ones in Fantasyland during the biggest downpour. :rotfl:

DD13 did have her lime green Baggalini decorated with DVC buttons and Lime Green Mickey Heads. We didn't see any other DISers though.

We too were at the P&P party on Monday night and loved it!!! It was well worth it!!! We enjoyed the parade(and they had a cart pulling the float as the float had broken down, it was funny to see it) and loved the fireworks. We saw it from Liberty Square and thought it was a good viewing place. My dd was hit in the head with some debris from the fireworks also. Every ride was a walk on, did almost the whole park in just the one night!!! My dd enjoyed the Jolly Roger Boat Tour but you do have to be right under a speaker to hear. The only thing we were disappointed in was that we just missed seeing Jack! They closed the line right before we got there for the night, but we were there on the late side so I do understand but my dd was disappointed. So, if you want to see Jack make sure you get there in time. Skipped the early parade and got seats about 10 minutes before the late one. We enjoyed the night so much and would do it again!!! :flower:

We were there Monday night also. Had to fly back to MI the next day but had a great time. Thought we were going to have one of those nights though. First, we took the first trip on the riverboat at 7:30. The intercom went out and we had a ride with NO soundtrack, not even the normal one. It poured the whole time and for quite a while after getting off. The cm working the register at the eating place across from POTC let us buy the kids meal as the tacos smelled too strong for us. The fireworks were the best I can remember. They did have the tutorial also. I did see people without wrist bands getting bags @ the front of the park, probably didn't have a clue why they were handed out. All in all a great time.:yay:Oh, I forgot, I went to city hall the morning of the party to ask what time the fireworks were and the cm gave me the pamphlet with the x's and times right then. I told my DH it seemed like cheating and he grinned at me and said "Pirate" the same way Johnny Depp did when Olando Bloom said he was cheating in the sword fight they had in the first movie. He's so cute (my DH too!)

the free strollers...will they only give them out at a certain time like after 4pm or 7pm?

What happens if you are in the park but you don't have P&P tickets? Will we feel like we're missing out? We'll be there with my 2 girls (ages 5 and 2 1/2 - big princess fans) but we didn't buy tickets for the party. We are going to alot of character dinners and felt like enough was enough. We will leave the park by 8pm. For us, we just didn't see the need. Your thoughts?

Thanks
Jen

You really should leave the park by 7:00 PM without a P&P ticket, since that is when MK closes to the public.

If money isn't an issue, I'd suggest just buying tickets, since your daughters are princess fans. It sounds like it's a great event.

I can't wait - 18 more days!!!
