Pirate & Princess Party Review - Don't Come Hungry!

I didn't realize the park closes @ 7PM and that is when the party starts. I think we have ADR @ Liberty Tree for 6:55 which I guess I should change for the 100th time :)

It just seems expensive. Plus the kids usually go to bed by 8:30. I can't decide.

I'll have to talk to dh about it again.

If you are at the Liberty Tree after the park closes, you will be escorted out of the park if you don't have tickets for the party. In Oct. 2004, we were eating at LTT on the night of a party and because they were so busy the service was slow. We were still there after the park closed and because we were not staying for the party (we had already gone earlier in our trip), we were watched very closely until we finished. Then we were escorted out very quickly. I got the impression that a lot of people used to try to stay at the parties by scheduling late ADRs. It wasn't our fault we were there late, but I understand why they kept such close tabs on us. It did make us feel bad though and my DH still talks about us getting "kicked out of the park" every time we go by LTT.

I would recommend moving up your ADR, unless you like being treated like a criminal. ;)

When you walk in the park the day of the party they have those two-sided wooden signs out that say "the park will close precisely at 7 pm".

Of course! They had a cute pink long sleeve knit tee shirt with a princess on the front and a pirate on the back. They also had 2 different pins. I am sure they had other pieces but those were the ones that caught our eye.

Where can I find these items? Thanks!!!:goodvibes

We'll be there feb 12th. This is a surprise for my boys so I'm pretty excited!
We were planning on being at the park early that day and then going back to OKW for a break in the afternoon and then heading to MK for 6pm.

Is it worth going back to the hotel for a break/change to costumes/small dinner? Or would you recommend we just stay at the park?

How much time do you think we will need for the party - character meets, pirate lessons, parade, fireworks? Will we have enough time to do it all and head out around 9PM? What time are the fireworks?

Anyone going the 15th of Feb.? Thats when I am going. I can't wait and I have my authentic handmade pirate costume ready!!!

MickeyWho We are going on thr 8th I think we will go to MGM in themorning and then go back to AKL for a break We did this during MVMCP last year and it helps If not for the kids but I need a break!!!! chnge are clothes put my feeet up etc. My kids are 6 and 7 and can go commando with me but 12:30 is late!

the free strollers...will they only give them out at a certain time like after 4pm or 7pm?

I am wondering this too since we have dinner ressie at 4:30. do we just show the Pirates and Princess ticket at the stroller place? Thank you for any info I posted these questions a few days ago and never go any response. Thank you in advance.:goodvibes

We obtained a stroller by simplying walking to the stroller rental area and showing our wrist bands. I suppose it was around 6:00 or so by that point as we had just finished supper at Tony's. I'd imagine that you could not get them before 4:00 as they were not admitting party guests with P&P tickets only before then. (We got in with our APs at 3:40 or so.)

I would really have a problem with them not letting me in at 3:40 with an annual pass. If the park is open we are allowed in. I am glad you got in at another gate. Then how did you get your wristband?

I truly believe it was just the one CM who was "doing her job" to the letter that was our problem. When we switched gates there was no problem at all with getting in! I can't fault her terribly, but it did cause quite a stir (and a few tears) with my younger children.

During supper I sent the older children to get their wristbands from the front gate. After supper I took the 3-year-old princess: and we hit the front gates. The nice folks simply took our tickets and gave us a wristband. They scanned our tickets near the gate or at the gate, but, honestly, I wasn't watching all that much at the time. It was quite simple really!

Could someone tell me 'very specifically' exactly where Jack is doing a meet 'n greet? Want to line up early for that one!:thumbsup2 TIA !

The Capt. Jack Meet 'n Greet was just across the Adventureland Bridge coming from the Hub. When you go over the bridge it is on the right before the Dole Whip counter - just past the terrace area.

We were there when they opened the doors about 7:40. Even being there that early it was still a 20 or so minute wait as they only take a few families at a time. (Luckily for us it was at the height of the rain!)

I'm so glad we did it!

Oh my! If you can perhaps you could rethink your plans.

I can only speak for myself but:

1) 7:30 - 9:00 wouldn't nearly be enough time. The first parade is at 8:30 and then the fireworks at 9:45. A second, and much less crowded parade, is at 10:30. Even staying the entire party time (7:30 - 12:30) we weren't able to do it all. Please consider staying longer than just a few hours. It really is worth it.

2) My goodness I was sooooo tired after the party and we didn't get to the park until about 3:45. That morning we slept in, ate breakfast, swam a wee bit and took a rest....then we just did haircuts and supper before the party. I can't imagine how it would have felt to "do" a park and then hit the party. The next morning my kiddos (all 4 of them) didn't even move until after 10:30.

Now, that being said, if your family does the early AM thing and then naps well....you could certainly do an AM park and then take a good rest. Make sure it's a good rest though!

We had to have seen you guys ALL NITE then because we were at the Barber Shop in line about 4:40pm (we were the last ones in line and the last customers of the nite) then my kids rode BTMRR back to back a bunch after the last parade. Were you with those 2 adorable little boys getting their first haircut?

As a former CM I noticed the amount of Disney upper management in the parks (Managers and VPs) for the event. They were EVERYWHERE!

We would definitely go again. :)

We were in the Barber Shop around 3:50, but didn't leave until 4:50 or so. We probably passed you! With 4 kids it takes us some time to get through the hairdo routine. Kristi Yamaguchi was there with her husband and two children when we arrived. My 10-year-old was star struck but tried to act cool :hippie:

There were a bunch of folks with those white P&P Party button down shirts on. Definately trying to put their best foot forward!

We'd go again.....it was fun!

OMG!!! I didn't know she was there...that is so cool!!!

Just back to our room at OKW after the first Pirates & Princesses party.

For the most part things were cute and fun but with anything new there are some kinks to be worked out.

We were able to gain admission with our party tickets at 4pm and were given a wristband upon admission. We were each given a "loot bag" that was tiny if you are comparing it to a treat bag from MNSSHP. The bag is black and has a drawstring but it is small. The treasure spots are marked with an X but the lines were LONG at each spot and moved slowly. The loot was usually 1 string of mardi gras beads or 2 pieces of chocolate or a tiny bag of raisins at each place. After about 3 treasure spots we just skipped these lines and rode the rides!

The parade was GREAT but was definitely heavy on the Princesses and light on the Pirates.

The biggest issue is the lack of food! There were very few options for dining and the few CS places that were open had a very limited menu. We ended up at the CS across from Pirates because it was the ONLY food service besides snack carts in all of Frontierland/Adventureland! They only offered 3 choices - beef tacos, vegetarian tacos and a kids meal quesadillas. There were no prices on any of the food options and the cashiers didn't know the prices until they rang up the items. VERY poor planning on Disney's part. There were lots of hungry guests and nowhere open to eat.

I would DEFINITELY recommend the party. GREAT bargain for the price but just bring your own food or eat a huge meal before the party!

:)

GReat to know, I was just planning on getting dinner then for the kids.. Will have to make other plans :thumbsup2

subbing, i'm trying to talk dh into this for 2/26 instead of a day at MK and the whole getting in at 4pm is sounding really good... i'm thinking sleep in till 10, up swim the kids like crazy, lunch, down for a nap, BBBout. at 3pm then off the the parks for the whole night, heck of a deal for that many hours and especially with NO lines... it also looks like we won't miss any of the 'main' or 'good' rides... right???

FREE stroller rentals too, i defintally need more info on that!!!
