Well, it seems disliked. Perhaps another word would be better?

Just a lot of talk on the DIS, plus the Princess & Frozen M&G "sold out" on our pirate night (EBPC) ... and lack of Palo reservations on the same date.

So, why the pirate night ... aversion? Is it mostly because it's been on every cruise and many cruisers are jaded with it?
I've also heard people don't really like the menu, just based on discussion here on the DIS.

I'm just curious :) No need to say one opinion is better than the other.

My curiosity is because I rather enjoy pirate night pirate: I'm not a huge fan of pirates but the whole day is just kind of fun. The menu? One of my favorite ^_^ The only thing I DON"T like is the fact that we enjoy second seating and the party is so soon after. Can't fill up on the yummy buffet food :charac2:
Perhaps we can ask our servers to be as fast as they can possibly be, so as to let our tummies settle?

Ha anywho, please go ahead and give your opinions and why you dislike/jaded or enjoy pirate night :)

I like Pirate Night. I also liked Tropical Night (which they had before Pirate Night came to be). I think Pirate Night is fun. I always dress up by my husband doesn't. We also have late seating so we don't go to the buffet after but I enjoy the fireworks. I am not a fan of the reworked "show". To me it feels a bit forced and corny but as I said I like that the majority of the ship gets dressed up in costume and can share a camaraderie in the theme. Love the fireworks (loved it better when then played I Need a Hero...I thought that song was perfect).

We usually travel with new DCL cruisers so I love seeing their reactions to everything onboard!!!

There sure seems to be allot of people at that party. Maybe the folks that have cruised allot don't go (like us). Cruising has changed since our kids are grown. I think the kids love the party

We usually book Palo for the night of the party, but we always go to the fireworks! I do like to see the costumes fellow cruisers wear. I think it's a fun night.

I love pirate night and dress up in full costume. Like you my only dislike is having second seating and the party starts soon after we just completed dinner, but I know this going in and it's not a big deal for me. Yeah, you miss out on the buffet but that's okay with me.

Sorry, I can't help you, I like pirate night.

We love Pirate Night and always have. It has also been one of our favorite menus (wish they hadn't taken the rib dish off). It was more fun when it first started because they would give out bandannas and pins. It's also fun to be on the only ship in the industry who does fireworks at sea!

I don't dislike it, but if it was cancelled I wouldn't be upset. I know it's all in fun (and POTC is one of my favorite rides), but I find the idea of celebrating people who were thieves, murderers, rapists, arsonists, and generally very bad, if not evil, just doesn't sit well with me. However, I spent a number of years monitoring modern day pirates off Africa and Asia so I have a slightly different perspective on pirates than most people.

I like pirate night on the ships.

Some here post disapproval on things, just to get noticed, IE there is very unfair criticism of Toy Story show, which we had a full house and a standing ovation for. But a few here continually say they do not like it.

I say to all first time cruisers, try everything you can, once, make your own opinion, you paid fir the full cruise enjoy it. Do not let the couple of naysayers change your enjoyment.

People are entitled to their own opinions. Just because a majority of people do like something doesn't mean their opinion is invalid, nor does it mean they are doing it "just to get noticed".

I don't mind it the dress up is fun. But the reason we book Palo is we do not enjoy the menu. We would prefer the dress up but normal menu.

We still enjoy Pirate night and really do love the menu that night. It was better when the deck party was more of a show that told a story (Captain Mickey comes to the rescue and saves everyone from Captain Hook!) The dance party does not really do anything for us, but we still go to see the characters. They have cut back on the buffet quite a bit and the decorations. Our first couple of cruises the decorations were amazing and the buffet was actually set up out on the deck which we preferred. But, it is still a fun night and we love the fireworks :flower:

I liked the original pirate night on the classics years ago, but I don't like the reworked show at all. Add to this that I usually cruise on the Fantasy, and the HUGE packed crowds on deck can make the experience unpleasant. It reminds me of a max crowd day or holiday at Magic Kingdom. So I saw it once and now I avoid it. I am also one who happens to hate the pirate night menu, so I always try to book Palo for that night.

Someone mentioned the tropical deck party from days gone by. I LOVED that! It was great fun and great entertainment. I know that nothing lasts forever, but now I am very tired of the pirate party and wish they would update to a different theme. I understand that my view is probably in the minority though.

Our kids absolutely love pirate night. One cruise we missed the show/fireworks and one of our kids went on for months about how he missed pirate night. Never again!!

I'm in the group that doesn't care for Pirate Night. For me, it's day is past. Time to move on to some other theme (please, not a Frozen night though) and a better menu for that night. Until then, I'll continue to plan on dining at Palo/Remy on Pirate night.

I don't believe it is widely disliked. Judging from the crowds that attend it. Vicki and I love to sit on the upper deck and watch the families and kids enjoying it all. Not to mention the fireworks as well!

Another Disney first, both a Disney pirate party ad the fireworks. A special perk of the cruises.

The Toy Story show is fantastic! And when we saw it on the Wonder recently, the theater was packed.

Just a lot of talk on the DIS, plus the Princess & Frozen M&G "sold out" on our pirate night (EBPC)
Regarding the sold out meet and greets--we have a character breakfast sold out for our Alaskan trip, sold out when booking had just opened. I think those that are sold out are the ones they have pre-reserved for Conceirge, and maybe they reserved some spots for people to book on the ship? There is no way they sold out of 1 particular day within an hour of the booking opening up.

I have no comment on the Pirate party--the Alaskan cruise will be our first cruise, and I know there is no Pirate party, just a Frozen deck party and a Pixar party in the Atrium.
