Pirate Menu Changing This Week

Does anybody know if you requested to have the jerk chicken extra spicy they would accommodate? or is it just not possible?

Not quite as much change as I was expecting. There are some new items that could be interesting. Can't wait to test it out in April!

I have only eaten the pirate menu once on our first Disney Cruise. On our next cruise aboard the Wonder, I decided to try Palo on that night. One of the best experiences ever! There was no one in Palo, and we got to have one on one service with our server. It was fantastic. We had an early reservation, and got done just in time to see the fireworks. I don't know if this menu change will get me back into the main dining room on Pirate Night.

Ok, I seem to be in the minority, but I really like the change! Lots of stuff on the menu that sounds good to me. Especially the vegetarian entrees sound good to me.

Compared to our last time on a Disney Cruise, on our recent cruise we actually found the new Pirates Menu to be the favorite menu of all the nights, particularly from the Vegetarians in our group. They found it superior to the special vegetarian options (primarily Indian cuisine) the galley made for them each night.

wow, this looks worse than it was before. I am not sure how you pull that off. Palo here we come

I actually liked the old one. But now I'll be a Palo Pirate Night person for sure.

It's just not possible. Generally, they don't serve any truly spicy food to guests. The spiciest condiment that is regularly available to guests is Tabasco. However, they stock sambal oelek in the crew galley, so I usually request to have some on the table at dinner.

Just goes to show DCL can't please everyone no matter what they do :). I like the look of the new menu, but I am in the didn't like the old one camp. For me there are more entrees that appeal.
Excited to hear they may be changing other menus too.

The vegetarian options are much much better on the new menu. However, being a pescetarian (I still eat fish/seafood but not other meats) I will really miss the macademia mahi mahi that was on the old menu. There are many things on the new menu that sound good to me and I'm excited try it. do Transatlantic cruises have a pirate night, though? I may not even get to try it for quite a while, if not!

ETA: I was apparently on one of the last Fantasy cruises to use the old Pirate night menu. I'm pretty sure they were testing the veggie samosas because there were veggie samosas at the adult late night snack area in La Piazza every night I went to it. They were REALLY yummy IMO and if you liked the pot stickers you will probably like the veggie samosas.

At first glance didn't like the new menu. Taking a second look I do like the veg options. Will probably try the egg noodles with tofu.
Will miss the pot stickers though :(

We had both pirate night and frozen night on the transatlantic cruises this year.

I had the Smoked Saucisson, Baked Brie Brioche and the King George's Roasted Privateer Strip Loin. The Baked Brie was not at all what I expected. It was more like a souffle and I really couldn't detect the brie.It was disappointing. The Strip Loin was an OK cut of meat, more than I could eat. The Yorkshire pudding was like a shoe and I imagine it sat for a while or was microwaved. At least the desserts were the same. Love me some rum raisin ice cream!

Hey guys! We had this menu on the Oct 3rd sailing of the Dream. I Loved the samosas, didn't care for the crab cake (I like more of a lump crab cake, this one had the shredded consistency) the grouper was yummy, my son loved the pasta, hubby enjoyed the strip loin, but for me the highlight of the meal was the dessert! Oh my! The caramel macadamia cheesecake tart was probably the best thing I ate for the whole cruise....save room for that one if cheesecake is your cup of tea. Overall, it was a great meal though.

Take care!

Just off the Fantasy, will post more thoughts and feedback from things I learned here in a bit but thought this one deserved its own conversation.

On Pirate Night (Tuesday), our server shared that it was the last time that one was being served. After 18 years, they are changing the Pirate Night menu beginning on this week's sailings. We were encouraged to try everything as it's "all going away" and all new items are coming.

Hope someone aboard this week can share the new menu once revealed.

It was our least favorite menu of the week, though in theory we like that style of food but the execution was just OK compared to the rest of the week.

They've changed it before -- since our first cruise in 2000 it was changed because they got rid of several of the dishes we really liked (like the ribs). I think we saw the change around 2004 or 2005. Maybe they will put some of that stuff back LOL
