Pirate Menu Changing This Week

Yippeeee - off to look.....

Well, I was one of the few who liked the old menu. That's changed now. There's absolutely nothing in the appetizer/soup selections that I would order.

As for entree - depending on how spicy the jerk chicken is - I might get that. I would also give the lamb and strip loin a try before passing judgement on those.

I might wind up with the BBQ beef salad as a final recourse.
We leave on the Dream next Monday 10/17. My kids have been looking forward to the pot stickers all year since our last cruise. They are super disappointed!

Before Pirate Night there was Tropical Night onboard for a few years. Pirate Night has been around less than 18 years but that aside, I am going to miss that menu. It is one of my favorites!!! I love the rib salad and the short rib entree.

Tropical night in Parrot Cay was also one of my favorite menus with Coconut Fried Shrimp and Jerk Chicken Wings...yum!!!

Sad to see it go. Thanks for sharing.

My first magic cruise was western carribean so we did the Mexicali dinner instead of a tropicali menu. I don't remember the menu, but there was a mariachi band that day.

The jerk chicken was not spicy at all and I felt it was on the bland side although I still really enjoyed it :)

Add me to the list where Pirate menu was the least favorite, and as of my last cruise I started booking Palo and planned that for future cruises too. The ribs were good when you'd get a good piece of meat and not one that was all fatty, but it was so variable that I quit trying.
Yes I agree, the quality of the ribs was always very hit or miss, which it shouldn't be! We wondered, why this was the case actually, as we had been on other cruises where it wasn't such a hit or miss.

I'm interested in all the apps. Soups and salads are meh. Treasure of the sea is one of our faves.

I don't see anything on the new menu that is really appealing to me, I think I prefer the old one...
I actually made a plan to only have the pot stickers (which I like quite a bit) and the jerk chicken salad on pirate night in MDR, no main course - so I can eat at the midnight buffet for once.
Well there goes that plan now. Out the window...

I have to agree that I'm disappointed in the new menu, and I wasn't exactly crazy about the old one. But I did like the pot stickers and will miss those.

So sad the Pineapple appetizer is gone...it was so delicious, I was looking forward to that the next time we sail..... :/

Just at a glance, being gluten-free my options are EXTREMELY limited. Unless I want to make a meal out of soups and salads or order from the boring "everyday" menu. No bueno Disney. No bueno.

I agree with you Flossbolna. Pirate night was awful for vegetarians. So much so last cruise we weren't going to go to dinner, but travelling with family we were persuaded to. Our server produced curry for my partner, even he knew the vegetarian options were not good. This menu sounds much better. Next year we are doing the Northern Europe cruise though and I believe there is no pirate night so it may be some time before we try this new menu

I never thought I would say it but I think I preferred the old menu. It all looks very "nah" if you know what I mean? Everything sounds pretty similar and there is nothing grabbing me on there. The veggie options actually seem even less exciting that previously. Might have to go with kids food

We are just off the Magic and had the new menu. I had the crab cakes which were fine, but I've certainly had better. As Heather noted, the Jerk chicken was not spicy at all, though the chicken was cooked pretty well. The lack of jerk spices disappointed me, but others will probably like it if you don't like the heat. I did really enjoy the salsa that accompanied it. The best part of my meal that night was, hands down, the chilled mango soup. So good!!! One of our table mates said she'd like to get this in a glass with a straw and I totally agreed. It tasted like a mango smoothy - a really, really good one. Next time I think I will skip the app and just ask for two bowls of soup. :-)

Sign me up for the chilled mango soup, the shrimp cocktail and Jack's Treasures of the Sea's.

It's always good to try something new, if you don't like it, get some pizza or chicken strips afterward up on deck.

I am going to be the really embarrassing person who orders ALL of the appetizers and maybe the Mango soup and then calls it a night. None of the entrees really interest me (I would like jerk chicken normally but I know Disney really goes light, if not non existent, on any heat in their meals).

A meal of appetizers it is for me.

I'll just be like "Mango soup for appetizer. Mango soup for soup. Mango soup for entree. And I suppose Mango soup for dessert." :/
