Photos: Disney at Night

Great pics! I havent read all the response so if you have answered this I am sorry. How the heck do you do that?? I have, what I think is a pretty good digicam. I have a Kodak DX6490, can you give me some pointers on how to get clear nightshots like this? I have tried several times to get some good night shots of the castle and fireworks, and it just comes out real blurry. I try auto focus and night settings. THe one thing I have tried is the PASM setting, but I do not know how to use the different settings within. These are some beautiful shots!

Thank you for sharing your pictures! They're absolutely beautiful, very well done! Those pictures are sure getting me exciting for my first trip to WDW this December. :Pinkbounc

Loved the pics!!!:D Thanks for sharing them with all of us!!

Thanks for the comments. The #1 tip, more than anything else is... find a way to hold the camera as still as possible. You cannot hand-hold those shots... unless you're trying to do some avant-garde "artsy" stuff. Use anything that's sturdy to hold your camera in place.... look around you... odds are there's something nearby that'll do nicely.

Autofocus usually isn't an issue as long as there's something reasonably illuminated in the view for the AF to lock on to (castle, firework, etc.). And again... forget about things like the "night setting". All that does is jack up the ISO sensitivity on the sensor and add "noise" (graininess) into your images.

Wow these are just inncredible!! I thought mine were good, but yours are AWESOME! Would you mind if I, oh, say, print out two or three to hang on my bedroom wall (not the ones of your kids, lol)??? Beautiful photos!!!:teeth:

Thanks. Go right ahead. I don't mind people using the images as posted for personal non-commercial use.

I feel like I'm there!! Thanks for sharing!:wave2:

P.S. Thanks also for the photo tip--I had the hardest time getting a decent picture of the castle at night last trip-it was my first WDW trip with my new digital camera!

Your photos are just breathtaking. It takes me right back to WDW. Can't wait until we can go again. Thanks so much!:sunny:

Geoff I will bring my Minolta SLR on my next trip, I can't get good pictures with my Digital at ALL!

Wonderful, just wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing these! ::yes::

Could you post EXIF data for some of these shots?

I have the same camera and am curious what ISO/Shutter Speed/f stop settings I should use at Disney at night while the camera is handheld.

Geoff M-
