Photopass Superthread!

yay !!!! I don't know why but I got two vouchers they both said the same thing one was small and the one I showed above. I hope it is all I need cus it's all I have fingers crossed.

First - dont panic or worry about this. I actually forgot my voucher at home (total accident - I knew I needed to bring it!). I was still able to get my lanyard by showing my email. That voucher will be perfect...if you want extra precaution - bring a copy (paper or electronic) of your order confirmation in case something happens with the voucher.

yes I'm starting to panic less( still a little worried) but yes I'm taking my voucher I have the the shipping receipt they sent me that says disney pp and my name and address as well as the email they sent me when it shipped that has order number and my name hopefully it will be enough. And your story helps me worry less :)

Thanks for the thread, I'm still undecided about the photopass.

We are away for about a month but DL will be at the beginning of the trip, does the PP just require you to put in the ID number within the first 30 days, then you have a further 30 days to play with the photos before making your final order of the CD?

Apologies if this has been answered multiple times, but I don't want to pre-order something and find out I won't be able to get the photos as I won't be at home.

Cheers :)

This is a very helpful thread. I'll have to come back and read it again when I order mine and need to know what to do. No way I'm going to remember all this :P.

Once you put the code into the photopass website you have 30 days to add borders and order your DVD (or download the pictures). So once you return from your month long trip you will still have 30 days as long as you wait until you get home to start looking at the pictures.

When we went in April 2013, BBB did not offer us a photo session in the back room, even though we had PP+. I didn't ask for it as I assumed you had to pay. So maybe future BBB visitors can ask?

We loved PP+ and got a dozen ride photos (including 7 on RSR thanks to child swap!), 3 character meals and a ton of posed family photos (and maybe 5 magic shots?).

Thanks for bumping this. There've been a lot of PP+ questions lately and I was wondering why there was no Superthread.... guess I just missed it. :confused3

We've had excellent experience with PP+ at DL and WDW. We usually end up with a few hundred pictures. Well worth the money for me to get good pics of the kids and not carry my DSLR around the park. I like adding boarders to the character pics and using them in the kid's autograph book. Its their little album to play with.

I will say as a hobbiest photographer I wish some of the PP photogs had slightly better photography skills. Many use an on-camera flash with no diffuser that washes you out, especially for the night shots. We have some otherwise great family shots in front of Carthy Circle at night and we're all white and shiny. Its kind of photography 101 stuff, so it bugs me. I'm sure the average consumer won't mind. I have to consider the benefit of having us all in a picture over the quality, because they aren't all professional level.

I discovered the Photopass Plus pre order option 12 days prior to our trip and decided to take the risk and still order. It shipped the day after I ordered so I was very hopeful it would come in time. Unfortunately I just checked the FedEx tracking and it looks like it won't arrive before we leave. I knew I was taking the risk when I ordered and in my case it didn't pay off!

My question is does anyone have any experience with returning the package? I'd hate to think I was out $70, but due to the very clear 14 day warning, I'm not sure Disney will have much sympathy. Any one else returned a photopass plus preorder unopened?

I don't think you can return it, but I have heard of people taking their receipt to the photo place in the parks and just getting it there. They could always turn you away because you were 2 days short of their deadline, but my guess is they'll take pity on you.

I just got mine and the cd case is sealed with a sticker that says unable to return if opened. I didn't look at the rest of the paperwork but that implies you can return it.
There's no expiration so you could save it for your next trip or gift it to someone else.
Hope you have a great trip anyway!

I would say the best advice - call and ask - then you KNOW for sure.

I was told when my PP+ failed to show up after three weeks from date of shipping that even if it was lost in the mail or did not arrive in time, that as long as you can show you purchased it more than 14 days from the day you arrive in the parks, that you can just show your receipt email. However, since it sounds like you 'd be showing up at the parks within that 14 days window you might not get that option - so that is why I'd call - ask if you can return it - the sticker on the case implies that it is possible to return it - otherwise why would they specify the seal must be left undisturbed?? :confused3

Good luck and hopefully it shows up in time after all!

I've just ordered the PP+ and hope it arrives before the 27th :)

Thanks for the thread it's been very informative and I *think* I understand it now :D

We loved Photopass Plus during our 2012 holiday trip. The photographers were everywhere. But this time (2013), they weren't as available as they had been. There wasn't even a photographer in front of Small World Holiday and we made several passes in the area to look for one. Also, they only had one photographer in front of the night time castle so the line was very long. Although we had several photos taken, many of them were of the same shot. For example, the photographer would take eight shots of us in front of the tree. We really only needed one or two. I guess it was worth the money if you consider the character meal packages that were included. I was just disappointed that there weren't as many photographers out and about as the year before. I am not sure I will do this for our holiday trip in 2014.

I was really shocked by the limited number of PP photogs out as well. My understanding is that they didn't even have one out in front of the night castle except on weekends. That's just crazy. We never did see one over by Small World Holiday either.

Still not a bad deal for the price, but definitely lacking a bit on the photo ops.

Hmmm, there were 2 photographers in front of the night-time Christmas Castle when we got our picture on 12/10/13 which was a Tuesday.

When we got our picture in front of the Castle at night on Thursday Dec 12th there was more then one person out there. We also saw them out there on Dec 10th as well.
As far as someone out by Small World we never saw anyone out there our whole trip. We did get lucky and had some amazing photopass photographers at both parks who walked around with us taking pictures at various spots, and we had some that for sure loved getting us to pose. I loved the value for us especially with our 2 character meals we did. We had more the 400 pictures on our photopass plus as well and will get it the next time we go for sure.

Hmmmm..... that's reassuring at least. We had run into czmom in the park who told us she had been looking for a PP photog in front of the night castle and finally asked only to be told they were only out on the weekend. Maybe I just missed them the other days.

Did you ever see one over by Small World Holiday?
