photo sharing: Your best shot from the last time you used your camera...

These taken at a friend of my DD's 6th Grade graduation party last weekend. This group of geese just all of a sudden appeared, landed and came into the yard where the kids had just finished playing various egg-toss games, and ate up all the egg remnants in the grass. They just seemed to know there were "goodies" to be had in the yard! They were only around a few minutes, and luckily I was able to get a few good close-ups:

A couple pictures from the San Diego County Fair. I still call it the Del Mar Fair though. This years theme was sports.

I did a "Trash the Dress" (prom version) session on Saturday. I just posted about it. You can see all of them here. I was extremely happy with most of them, however, if I had to pick just one, this would be my favorite from the day:

I don't get that whole trash the dress thing...For me it seems wasteful and selfish for some reason....So not eco-friendly.

Why is it wasteful and not eco-friendly? And selfish??? :confused3 The dresses got wet and a bit dirty. The girls' mother was already planning to have them dry cleaned. They were 100% salvageable when we were done. I was extremely happy with the shots I got. However, more important, the girls and their mother absolutely LOVE them.

Each to their own, I guess. ;)

OT but for what it's worth nothing against the photos , but i don't get the trash the dress "concept" either...now if it were after a divorce, maybe;) why not just sell it if you don't want to keep it...just wondering how after rolling around in pond water they could be good as new i remember one wedding where the bride was sliding all over the floor etc( and she wasn't even trashed herself) in her dress and torn it up, much to the disappointment of the woman who spent hrs making it for her as her wedding gift:rolleyes1 (not me btw) just seems kind of wasteful and since most aren't cheap, like they don't know the value of $$ for sure:lmao:

Taken last night. This is a little plastic statue outside of the window of my piano studio. (St. Cecelia--the patron saint of musicians) I just used a black and white filter and a crop in processing. I'm happy with the light and shadows on this one.

As for "trashing the dress"--my prom was in 1973 and I still have the dress! LMBO! I can't get rid of anything!

I', sorry...I thought TRASHED meant ruined, never to be able to be worn again...I see I don't have the concept right.

I thought they were intentionally destroying their dresses.
I liked the shot you posted but I thought they were really TRASHING their dresses...Sorry.

Thank you very much!! Laura (the girl in my picture) had two dresses - the black one where she is in the water and her pale pink one. She bought the pale pink one at a thrift store - paid about $20 for it. BUT, it was her absolute favorite dress. She flat out refused to get it wet. I honored her wishes with no problem. That is why she is on the dock, sitting on a tractor, etc. We used a towel under her dress in several shots. I got creative to preserve her dress but get unconventional shots at the same time.

Now the black dress and the one her sister was wearing were different stories. The black one had been worn by at least four other girls. It was handed down to Laura. The pinky/peach one was bought at Sears - also $20. So, they had fun in those dresses. ;)

I can understand the confusion. I have seen some pictures of VERY trashed dresses. I'm not sure if I could let someone go that far. However, I don't know a better term for what I did. That is how it is termed on-line.

I had been thinking of your last response all day. It was really bugging me. Especially the not being eco-friendly part. I started to really think about it and then had to laugh. The girl in my picture graduated from high school last month. She lives on a 400 acre farm. She was just nominated the Northern Region Vice President of FFA (Future Farmers of America). She is going to be attending Penn State as an Agricultural/Environmental Science and Education major. If anyone would think it wasn't eco-friendly, it would be her!! ;)

Please, no need to apologize!!
