I was fiddling with my daughter's D40 and captured this rare image...the Carolina Hurricane's scoring a goal at a home game.:)

It's not that rare, anybody can score on Tampa Bay.... :rotfl:

Great capture. What lens did you use on this? :thumbsup2

:lmao: Dave, you are killing me! Before this game, I had sat through 3 home losses to the total score of 15-2. Thank goodness Tampa came to town.

It was shot with the 55-200 VR lens. It was from the other end of the ice in the corner lower bowl. I think the D40 is a bargain. IMO it takes as good images as my D200 and Canon 40D. Small, light, and plenty of features. Chuck

A fun sun flare shot I got of my daughter the other day. I just finished fiddling with it in Lightroom and then added usm and a little contrast in Paintshop pro X2. That was my first time getting them because before last week I avoided backlighting. Now I'm really loving it. :thumbsup2

Edited to add settings. oops
ISO 250 f/2 ss 1/2000(yeah it was underexposed I was shooting fast not paying attention to the light meter oppsie thankfully I'm in RAW and could bump it up some.)

I love that shot. Great job! :thumbsup2

Danny-Seriously, can I follow you around so you can teach me night photography? Nice!

Thanks Wen! It wouldn't have been much fun following me around the night I took that shot. The winds were howling at 35+ consistently. ;)

Very nice- was this with either a flash or reflector?

Jeff, Thanks, nope no reflector or flash at all. Would that help? I just saw it in camera and started to shade then thought no I'd like to see this and snapped a few. ;) About 2 minutes later we had gone in the grass for some different lighting and I stuck my hand in a thistle weed causing an immediate allergic reactions that felt like pins stuck in my hand and welts that grew by the second... so needless to say I was done with the camera for the rest of they day. :sad1:

Danny,
Thanks for your comment.

Hi. I'm right there with you with a D80. Just trying to find the time to read up on it. The store where it was purchased offers classes that I plan on taking - that may be available near you as well. Have fun!! :thumbsup2

Yes, thank you. I believe you had referred me to that site on a diff thread I started after I got the camera. It's been very helpful - I just need someone to actually show me things first hand sometimes - my aging brain, I guess. ;)

Oh please, no problem at all. I was glad to have the reminder as I never bookmarked the site. And, again, your photos are truly magnificent!

Another try with the pooch - his serious side!

Ken Rockwell warning!!!!!!!

If you are new to his site, or if you are new to photography you might want to be careful when you read his site. Ken has developed a very large database of information. He has done a good job of promoting his site. He is very very opinionated.

I do not want to taint you to his style or his site. There is good information there. He just takes some very strong stands on some issues that anger many readers. I do not want to go there because I think everyone is entitled to there opinions. Ken states some of his opinions as facts. That is what gets him in trouble with some.

I will use Ken's site for reference. Just be careful when he says that something is the best and only you should use, there may be other opinions.

I am sincerely not trying to trash Ken. Just wanted you to be aware.
