Ken Rockwell warning!!!!!!!

If you are new to his site, or if you are new to photography you might want to be careful when you read his site. Ken has developed a very large database of information. He has done a good job of promoting his site. He is very very opinionated.

I do not want to taint you to his style or his site. There is good information there. He just takes some very strong stands on some issues that anger many readers. I do not want to go there because I think everyone is entitled to there opinions. Ken states some of his opinions as facts. That is what gets him in trouble with some.

I will use Ken's site for reference. Just be careful when he says that something is the best and only you should use, there may be other opinions.

I am sincerely not trying to trash Ken. Just wanted you to be aware.

I noticed that as well. But the same could be said about any info on the web. I use it just as a reference. I will try some of his suggestions and see if they fit the results that I am trying to achieve. In most cases what he suggest does work but I am not afraid to try new settings. Ultimately in the end it's what I want out of camera that's important to me. Thanks for the input. :goodvibes

All I am saying is read with an open eye.

I actually like his writing style. There are some almost we hate Ken Rockwell sites and threads.

Picture of my niece taken this afternoon. One of the very few candid shots I have of her. I just wish she hadn't had that fake tattoo on her cheek!

It's horrible...isn't it? :scared1: I don't think I've ever spent so much money on myself (or any hobby) before. First, I tell DH it's only $600 for the D60...then I tell him I need to get a better lens and it'll only be another $600 for the 18-200 and then I tell him I need the 50 for low light, and the 60 micro for some shots of plants in the spring, the SB-600 for...well...I'm not sure what. How about "just in case"??? :rotfl:

Add all of that to the upgrade to the D90, the memory cards, the tripod, the bag(s), the filters, the cleaners, the software and the fact that I can't stop thinking about what lens to buy next and we have what I would consider a MAJOR problem here. :rotfl2:

I know there are so many people out there with so much more stuff, so much more expensive stuff....but for me and especially for DH who doesn't necessarily get it, it's a lot more money than we're used to spending on "fun" stuff.

Hopefully our vacation photos from The World this December will make up for it in his eyes. :santa:

Took my wife about an hour north of us to Santa Barbara. This was the view from the restaurant we ate at for lunch.

Awesome shot Danny!!! I have to say your pictures constantly amaze me. I am starting a 4 week online course on the D300 to better learn the menus and what the camera is capable of letting me do with it. Your photos are certainly something to aspire to! Your exif states 24mm .. which of the Sigmas did you use? I am considering the 10-20 for myself.

Thank you for the very nice comments. :goodvibes

That shot was using the Siggy 18-50mm f/2.8. I have to say, it's been a very reliable lens for me. You will most certainly enjoy the 10-20 if you get it. I have one huge problem with that lens, though. It seems that every time I put it on the camera, I never want to take it off and my other lenses get neglected. ;)
