Photo CDs

Holy Moly! We have 2 cabins for my family of 5...so I'm not even going to go to Shutters...not even once!

I will gladly take a picture of anyone/family who asks :)

I'd also be really disapointed if I couldn't get both cabins on one cd. One of my children will be in the cabin next door with Nana. I can't imagine buying a photo cd with plenty of pictures of one child and none of the other.

I would like to know for sure also as we also have connecting rooms....

I believe I have read threads on this before and if I remember correctly the info was inconsistent; with some people reporting being able to combine and others reporting not being able too:confused3

Along the same lines, I was planning on ordering the CD when we sail June 3rd... But not if the images are low res! Anyone know the resolution of the images on the CDs? Do you need the waiver to have someone else print from the CD? TIA!

Ok, I am contemplating throwing down the $400 for the CD. But I need to know one thing. I have two connecting rooms linked reservations. In one room I have myself, my DD7 & DS5. In the other room I have my wife, DD10 and my mother in law. Of course we will make appropiate room changes once we get there. My question is this, will the Cd have all the pictures from both rooms or is it one per room. Thanks.

I merged your thread with the other Shutters CD thread that was out there.

There is a waiver in a file on the CD so you don't need anything else to get them printed. Both times we have tried to get friends who were linked with us on the CD we were told no. What we did was get as many pictures with all the kids in them so that those would show up. At least one person who is booked in the room needs to be in a picture for it to be on your CD. Not all of the pictures that show up on the kiosk will be on your CD if they are of people not in your room.

Now there have been some people who have been able to get this done on the same ships where myself and others have been told no. I guess it is one of those things like the boarding number/online checkin thing...it depends on who you talk to as to what the resulting story will be.

Is it all strictly on facial recognition or does it also go by your room key? all 4 of us will have keys to both rooms.

It is both ways. Anything that has the card scanned will (should) be ointhe card. Facial recognition like for the ones by the pools, will pull in just about anyone... Especially if you have a 7 year old with long blonde hair wearing a princess dress... I stopped taking them out of our folder on the kiosk after being told that htey could be in multiple folders...

They are HIGH res images that are compressed. We have printed larger than 8X10 and they look great.

I have gotten the CD each cruise. The lowest amount of images was 175 or so. This past cruise (2010 WBTA - 14 nights) was over 350 photos. Included the lifestyle photos... Well worth it to me!

I just got off the Wonder and I bought the CD for $299.95 (it says 399.99 in the navigator, but it is not). They also told me (Byron - he takes the white background pics and was working the register at shutters) that you can combine pics with other staterooms that are in your immediate family. You just have to present your room key card to them and they combine them.

Also they do facial recognition, so if you have pictures with the same people in some of your pictures, most likely you will have their files on your CD, as well. We have all of ours and a whole other family on ours (unfortunately we do not know them, but I'm hoping we can find them somehow - I want to give them their photo files!!)

I think you might just have convinced me to get another Photo CD on our Mexican Riviera Cruise. I had talked myself out of it because of the cost, but I think I can just swing it for $299.95.

So, has anyone bought the package who had family members staying in more than one room? We have an inside room booked for our kids (17,20) and a veranda for us. Would we have to buy two CD's?

We were told no, even though I didn;t ask. They just asked if my mom was in my room and I said yes. They told me if she was in another room she couldn;t have her pictures on my CD.

I was given a website to get the waiver on the Dream. Of course I have no clue what I did with that paper. :rolleyes1

In the FAQ sticky at the top of the main cruise boards page under SHUTTERS is the link to click on to get the Shutters Photo Waiver Paper.

Hi There :yay:

Can you say what the actual resolution of the images are?

And when you say compressed, are they in a .zip/lzh/tar format?

Another poster mentioned that the images were under 1 MB in size. I know my camera (7 megapixels) at the highest resolution produces images between 3 and 5 MB.

Also, can you confirm that Shutters does NOT include the borders and clip art that are available if you purchase the prints from them?

Thanks!

I don't know how to find out the resoultion, but I could if you told me how. The CD does not have any borders, just straight pictures.

Thank you so much!

OK - in Windows Explorer, right-click the image and select Properties.

In the window that comes up there should be 4 tabs across the top - General, Security, Details, and Previous Versions. Don't worry if yours doesn't look just like that - I am in Windows 7 but other versions should be similar.

Click the Details tab and under the Image section it should say the dimensions and the resolution. For example, an image I am looking at now is about 4 MB in size and the Details tab shows it as 4320 x 3240 pixels with a resolution of 72 dpi.

Thanks!

So to do that I would have to have it loaded online right? But mine have all been cropped, etc before I loaded online. I did try to find it on photosahop and it looks like it is a resolution 72 per inch for an unedited picture.
If I just click on the picture in the folder and hit properties ,I don't have a choice of tabs. it gives me very little info on it.
