PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

So ladies, it's been a week since I made ADR's and I'm still on the fence about one. We arrive on the 19th and have reservations at Boatwrights. I've never eaten there, but love Cajun/Creole food so I wanted to try it. And it's convenient since it's next door to where we're staying. However, I am tempted to change to one of my favorites, Raglan Road. (and I already changed this one to Boatwrights!) We then have reservations at Be Our Guest (my runner in crime's must do), Tutto Italia and O'hana. We might switch Tutto Italia to the new restaurant at the Boardwalk though when it opens up for reservations.

I really feel in a lull of planning now. My only other debate is whether to fly or drive for this trip. We always drive for our family trips, however, I normally fly for solo trips. Driving would just be cheaper, but do I want to spend 6 1/2 hours in the car before running. Mind you, I'm running the 5K and 10K, not the half, but still not sure I want to be stuck in the car and leaving at 6am when I could be there in an hour for $305, and my bag check fees. (If only my curly hair didn't need so many products I could do a carry on!) Hmmm...decisions, decisions.

As a bona-fide Girl Scout Leader for the last 8 years & 3 troops.

Yup- I'm in!! :thumbsup2

I think we would be breaking some Girl Scout Law if we did not have one! :rotfl2:

momabaarjo, if you love animals, Conservation Station is worth checking out! I loved it!

ETA: Maybe I need to take a trip to WL to try that cupcake!

Not sure if we will make it to Conservation Station this trip...poor AK does not get a lot of loving!

Talk about being behind in this PTR...ugh. I have not linked things in a long time! I need to get that done! I think you should stay Sunday night...that way you can have fun with us more! I plan to push my body till my body does not move!

I have officially decided to stay Sun night! The question is just whether my runner in crime will stay as well or I stay with my friends at BLT. I selfishly want to stay at BLT because it's free and I've always wanted to stay there, plus it's on the monorail which is convenient for our plan of dinner at O'hanas and drinking round the World that night!

So glad we could talk you into to one more day!!!

Yum! Sign me up!

We are big fans of Wilderness Lodge! That is where we're staying for our WDW Marathon trip in Jan.

I love WL! But probably will never stay there...stayed at the "real" one in Yellowstone and we have a cabin in the mountains...So I like a change of scenery from that! But I love visiting...so homey and wonderful feeling!

I am totally going to whip out the Silhouette and make this! As a matter of fact I said when I lost 5 lbs I was getting a new workout shirt so I think I'll get some heat transfer vinyl and make this one!

:worship: your ability to this...I so want to learn how to!

I have been on track so far this week, but I have to get my run in tomorrow or I'm off for the week. I actually ran 5 minutes straight twice yesterday. Ia m so proud of myself and impressed with how good 5 minutes straight felt!

:worship: Awesome job...the only time I get close to 5 minutes straight is at the beginning and ending of REAL races...then of course I am dying!

I love CP, Raglan Road, Tusker House breakfast but I try to do some new restaurants every trip.

I have had this cupcake and it was just as delicious as you might imagine it is! Scrum-didly-umptious!

Another positive review...so on my list!

I would go for a new place. I have heard wonderful things about Boatwrights...in fact it was on my last trips ADR list before it got derailed...prime rib and bread pudding...

Personally, I think I would fly...just because my body would not be happy with running 13.1, partying afterwards until I drop, getting up early and then sticking myself in a car...I know it was murder after the ToT to be on the airplane for the flight home...cant imagine what would happen if I tried to drive...:eek:

I know it is a few days early, but enjoy the holiday weekend. We are headed to Abs X-Country meet and from there leave for a quick trip to our cabin in New Mexico...be back on Monday night...so motivation will be a little late!

On a side note...totally ROCKED my long run today! Okay, so not really long only 3.5 miles...but I came in at a great pace considering 0.5 miles/8 minutes of it was walking. Now to keep this pace for a 10K in about 6 weeks so I can get a better corral for the PHM!

I am finalizing my plans and ADRs for October and some of them I just can't believe I might not do. Do any of you have restaurants or rides you can't imagine NOT doing on a trip to WDW. Wondering if I am getting too rigid and need to "let it go" a little...

I *like* to do Kona bkfst, Ohana dinner, Raglan Road & Le Cellier, but if I can get to one of those during a trip I would be happy. I do like trying new places also. We tried Raglan Road in Feb & it is now one of our "must do's" for future trips.

Must do rides...we know we will always go to MK, so Space, BTMRR, Buzz (haven't been on 7DMT yet)

Epcot...Test Track (but I am ok just spending time walking around Epcot too)

HS...RnR & ToT (if the kids are with us, TSM)

AK...EE, Kilamanjaro Safari (but we don't always go to AK if it is a short trip)

Cupcake Friday
(as if just being Friday is not sweet enough)

S’Mores Cupcake
Roaring Fork Wilderness Lodge

So last week we took a quick boat ride across the lagoon where we were greeted by

"Old Faithful" and ushered inside the Wilderness Lodge in search of some more Disney cupcakes. This week a step back in time to with a cupcake that invokes Girl Scout Camp memories and more recent campfire summer nights at the cabin with my family, who does not love toasted gooey marshmallows and a piece of melted chocolate (and if you my daughter a layer of peanut butter) sandwiched between 2 graham crackers? May I present to you the S’Mores Cupcake (yes, we have already seen a S’Mores cupcake back at the GF that did not do much for any of us)...that will make you stand up and take notice!

This cupcake looks like a campfire memory it is topped with melted, gooey, browned marshmallow with a square of Hershey’s chocolate nestled in the sticky goodness.

Underneath I bet you were expecting a chocolate cupcake, but what you will get is a surprising cake that is graham-cracker flavored, which is slightly spicy from the spices used (almost like a spice cake). There is a surprise inside the cake…a couple more pieces of Hershey’s chocolate.

Reviews

“This dessert is amazing. I’m not a huge fan of marshmallow sauces, but this gooey marshmallow topping feels and tastes just like roasted marshmallow, and the graham cracker cake is a very interesting and unique touch. Delicious.”

My Thoughts

I am so into this cupcake and scratching off the GF version because this one looks so yummy!

Your Thoughts?

YES PLEASE!!!

We did a split stay POR/POFQ in Feb & ate at Boatwrights. It was ok. Not bad, but not one I would run out & make a reservation for again anytime soon. I would TOTALLY go back to Raglan, but then again I LOVED Raglan.

We are leaving on our cruise today! See ya in a week

Have a great trip!

Running has again been pushed to the back burner yet again after already being sidelined for almost 2 months. My head cold has now officially settled in my chest

The odds are forever NOT in my favor at this point for my 10K next month. Might be submitting a crappy 1/2 time at this rate.

This is what I'm afraid of...that driving the morning after the half would be a nightmare...or at least not very pleasant. I think an afternoon flight would be much more pleasant! We'll see what my budget has to say. My husband's motorcycle needed some repairs and Harley called today to say it will be 2 grand. :crazy2::faint: Driving might be my option...

I love Cajun food, but we also make it a lot at home. (Husband's family is Cajun) so I can't decide. Raglan is one of my favorites so it's a no brainer for me. There could be a last minute decision involved...

I'm so sorry you're sick again. I was sick this weekend and it really derailed my running progress, especially when the runs are getting longer.

Newsflash: I am did my run today (week 5, day 2 of C25K) and checked tomorrows. It says to run. For 20 minutes. Without stopping. What????? Can someone send me some pixie dust, because I'm going to need it! :faint:

Wednesday Wonderings...

Is there any must do treats or drinks in Animal Kingdom that you have to have or are looking to try next time you are there?

Although I like the sound of the Yak Attack, I have tried it and not being a mango fan...well I wont be having one again. There are quite a few cupcakes hidden in Animal Kingdom (but those are reserved for another post on another day...:rotfl2:. But recently I did run across a drink (sorry Tweedles no alcohol) that I might just have to try...

A frozen Chai tea complete with a Hidden Mickey Whip Cream topping! Which is found at Royal Anandapur Tea Company (someplace that I have completely overlooked during my last few trips). I love the autumn flavors of Chai and have never had a frozen once (iced, yes but not frozen and blended)...so this is a new find for me to try!

Big hugs and pixie dust coming your way...if I don't stop talking myself out of my short runs in the morning I am not going to have a good time either...

I know that you are not a huge fan of chocolate, but Cammy and I found another 10K the end of November that we are thinking of doing in Fort Worth...Chocofrolic!

I so understand budget killers...had a few of those lately myself. Thankfully I had enough SW points to get my tickets paid for.

I am so excited to try Raglan...love British pub grub!

I remember those days of trying to keep up with the straight runs of C25K...I tried and failed miserably! So thankful about the same time I learned about Galloway Interval Run/Walk...something to think about if running straight starts to weigh you down!

My kids have found the countdown on my phone and are getting excited. This is the first year in a long time that we don't have a fall trip planned. At first they were asking to go back to WDW A LOT but since they've found the countdown they're being better about it.

I was on a good streak of running last week after my 5k, I ran 3 more times. Since last Weds, NOTHING! oops.

I know someone who is addicted to those frozen teas. I'll have to give one a try this year...maybe.

I'm using the Galloway method for my half marathon training right now...for my long runs I do 9 minutes of running to 1 minute of walking and it's amazing what a difference those walking breaks make!

Me too! I'm a Galloway girl for sure!

I am planning to do Galloway for the 10K. I just don't think I can run 6 miles straight! But 8 minutes running was hard the other day so I'm not sure about 20 minutes or so. However, I will give it a go because one of my goals was to be able to run three miles straight. If I try and find it's just not for me, that's ok, but I want to give it an honest effort. Once I've finished C25K I will likely sign up for a local 5K and then we'll see how that goes and what my plan of attack is for the 10K.

Good luck! I bet you'll find that you can do it. When I started to feel like I couldn't do it any more, I used to find things to distract myself...counting how many steps I was taking (I'd count to 100 and then start over again), how many mailboxes I had passed, how many red cars drove by...more often than not I was just bored and it was making my brain want to give up! You can do this! :cheer2:

I love Jeff Galloway! We were able to meet him at 2 of the Expos. My mom thanked him and told him that she just had a hysterectomy 6 weeks before last year's Princess 10k and it was because of following him that she was able to be there. Ha, he asked her how long she waited to get back to training and she said 4 weeks and he then told her he had his wife out training 2 weeks after having a hysterectomy! So now that's our joke that I should've been making her do run/walks around the hospital because Jeff wouldn't have given her so much time to rest ;)

We still love him though!

I caved and made an ADR for Raglan Rd. We see how DTD looks closer to Feb, hopefully should be mostly put back together.

Park tickets are giving me a heart attack today. I'm considering getting APs (DVC) for my family and we'll do a 10 yr anniversary trip next October to get use out of them. But DH and I also talked about a beach destination for our 10yr. We got married in Disney so that does have meaning and would make good monetary sense. But man, almost $2000 in tickets is giving me palpatations!

Ditto . . . You can do this!! I found once I stopped thinking the time flew by. Lately, I've been listening to audiobooks and it allows me to relax and enjoy the run.

I'm thinking about trying audiobooks or podcasts for long runs soon. I usually like music, but 3 hours is a lot of music! lol

Cupcake Friday
(as if just being Friday is not sweet enough)

Carrot Cake Cupcake
Roaring Fork Wilderness Lodge

I am thinking that the Wilderness Lodge is basically the coziest place to eat a cupcake....

Today's cupcake really needs some serious pixie dust, because compared to all the other cupcakes this one is well....just plain boring. But from reviews, very yummy.

The name says it all...Carrot Cake Cupcake. It is a moist spice cupcake with tiny shreds of carrot mixed into the batter topped with a mound of lovely cream cheese icing and a tiny bit of candied carrot shreds.

Reviews

"The cupcake was absolutely amazing! The frosting was definitely the best part, so sweet and creamy. It reminded me very much of the carrot cake cookie that I often get at the Writer’s Stop at Hollywood Studios, only in cupcake form. I will also add that the carrot cake itself was very moist. Overall the cupcake was extremely rich and very filling. One of the better cupcakes I have had at Disney."

My Thoughts
Come on Disney, I am totally underwelmed by this appearance of this cupcake! But maybe in this case they are letting the cupcake speak for itself! I am totally on the fence over the Carrot Cake Cupcake...maybe if I am not too full because sadly I need all the pixie dust and magic on a cupcake in Disney!

Your Thoughts?

Meh. It looks ok, but I find this late in the game I'm starting to judge the cupcakes by how many OTHER cupcakes I will have eaten previously. I think there may not be room for "just" a plain cupcake at this point, it needs to really blow me away and impress me to make me eat anymore...I'm stuffed just looking at cupcakes now! :rotfl2:
