PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

GREAT job with the runs Tammie!!! :thumbsup2

I also have 'gotten back into training' in the last 3 weeks. And have been struggling a lot. I am having injuries I never had before & even low mileage has been hard.....

I am considering, when I run outside, trying that 30/30 split. Just to see how it works for me. I can't do it when I run inside on the treadmill as it takes too long to adjust speeds on that thing... but outside- maybe that will help me! I usually do 7/2's and the 7 is too long for me and I'm getting hurt...and struggling.. so maybe I need to drop it..

Next outside run I'm trying 30/30.. .just to see what it yields! :)

I had to switch up my intervals this past week because out of nowhere my calf started hurting with every step. I found that switching from 9/1 intervals to 4/1 got me through my 9 mile run on sunday. I wanted to give up and just go home but I pushed through it.

Does anyone else on here watch Extreme weight loss? On the season finale this week the people on the show ran the Disney half marathon. Once again, I got so excited and inspired that I was bawling my eyes out while watching. I might need to make a tissue pocket in my running costume because at this rate I might just cry happy tears the entire race!!!

Cupcake Friday
(as if just being Friday is not sweet enough)

Chocolate Caramel Cupcake
Roaring Fork Wilderness Lodge

Today we wrap up our Wilderness Lodge Cupcake stop, with one I know will tempt quite a few of us....as well as spark a lively conversation of how to say and spell the middle name of this little morsel of goodness...

This cupcake is rather plain at first glance, the “outside” is still nothing to sneeze at. Rich chocolate cake is topped with dense chocolate frosting that is dark enough to be mistaken for bittersweet chocolate (especially when spied in the bakery case), but its more of chocolate fudge in both flavor and consistency made from good Disney chocolate. The frosting (topped by Hidden Mickey Sprinkles or if you are lucky a seasonal dusting of magic) is not laid on too thick, which is fine because it leaves more room for what’s inside…

and it’s what’s inside that really delivers the “Wow” factor here. Now, they say “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” So while a an oozing pile of caramel sprinkled with cake crumbs may not make for the prettiest photo ever, caramel lovers get it. This is no mere dollop of caramel — there is enough of the golden stuff in here to have caramel with every bite of the cake. Or, you just dig in and eat the caramel by itself, then finish the chocolate cake.

"It can be easy to miss. But my fellow caramel fans should take notice, because you don’t want to pass this by!"

"This cupcake gets two enthusiastic snobbish thumbs up!"

My Thoughts
I am thinking a bite of this cupcake wonder will probably be enough for me. I want to taste it but I am at this moment no where near being able to eat one all by myself...

Tammie, you are doing awesome! That really is impressive!

Thank you...but no impressing going on this week, ugh!

GREAT job with the runs Tammie!!! :thumbsup2

I am beginning to wonder if struggling and injuries are just part of the never ending cycle...isn't things supposed to be easier the more you do it????

I like 30/30...for training...but I never can seem to get in a real good interval cycle during an actual race...my mind tells me I need to run more...and the excitement sucks me in...

I cant wait to hear...

Hi Ladies! It has been far too long since I have been on here. I spent the summer getting my packet ready for tenure (I am a college prof.). I submitted it yesterday and today is our first day of classes. I am happy to just have this process started. In the mean time, I am looking at plan Bs just in case. I found a great engineering job for Disney :).

I think I like your plan B!!! Good luck on your tenure!

In running news, my marathon training has been great. I did 20 miles labor day weekend with DH (we use Galloway for marathon training) and I felt great! I was so happy. I ran a half marathon in Manchester, VT on the 6th and it was so hot and humid and very hilly. But it was beautiful! I came in under 2 hrs so I was happy given the weather and course. I have a marathon in Oct. then another one in Nov. Then it is training time for GSC. I found my training program and I am so excited to start it. For the GSC I am going to use the Train Like A Mother plans.

WOW>>>>>20 miles...I cant even imagine that! And under 2 hours... :worship:

DH and I made our ADR for GSC. Before the half we are doing dinner at Via Napoli and the breakfast after the half is at Grand Floridian Cafe with dinner at Chezf de France. I still have to figure out dinner plans for before the 10k, but we have breakfast at Tusker House after the 10k. I am getting so excited!!!!

I hope we meet up at Via Napoli on Saturday night!

In the mean time, we take a family trip in Dec. to Disney so that should hold us over a bit :).

YAY...cant wait to live through you...my favorite time of the year at Disney!

Ok, time to make final preps for class.

Work gets in the way...way too much for me too!

BTW, Great job running Tammy!

Thank you!

Can I just put this out there that I am SOOOO unmotivated to go run these days. Injured since mid July after my 25K, then as soon as I was ready to go out there & start training again, I got a horrible chest cold a few weeks ago. I am feeling better this week & my knee is better, but for the life of me I cannot make myself go out & run (or even walk). I think just knowing how much of a setback I will have had is really making me lack the desire to get back out there. I have a 10K next month, supposed to be going to Vegas for RnR 1/2 in Nov & I am unprepared for it all. I am bummed about having to back out of my full in Nov...just need to get my mojo back...quickly. :worried:

Come on girl...you are my inspiration! I know you can do this! Reach deep and I am sending you some pixie dust!

I had to switch up my intervals this past week because out of nowhere my calf started hurting with every step. I found that switching from 9/1 intervals to 4/1 got me through my 9 mile run on sunday. I wanted to give up and just go home but I pushed through it.

Great distance...and I am so happy that you found an interval to push you through!

Of course I would miss this...UGH! I get weepy too!!! I cried a lot during ToT for various reasons...but I was a huge mess near the finish line...this time I am going to have some cupcakes (who I wanted with me during ToT) around me and I will probably be even more of a mess.

As much as I think the caramel one looks amazing...I would be more enthused with the carrot cake one. I know, bring out the shooting gallery!

Good thing I'm staying at the WL so maybe I'll have a few days to try them all?? (Except that lemon filled one!)

No running happening lately but I did start my workouts again. I found last year that adding circuit training helped immensely with stamina and speed.

Happy Friday!

Oh man, I thought I would pass for sure on this until I saw that filling! I LOVE caramel. I might just eat the insides with a little of the cake/icing with it. ;)

We've had the caramel/"carmel" pronunciation discussion before, right? It's carmel. :lmao:

YUM.

Course I am eating a dark chocolate sea salt caramel right now- so of course I am going to love this!

** and I of course realize that shoving dark chocolate sea salt caramels into my mouth when I just injured myself and can't run to work it off is counter-productive.... what can I say, I'm a hot mess & so therefore stress eating! (Yes, it is my breakfast! Don't judge! Ha!)**

Happy "Sunday Runday" cupcakes! It seems like fall weather is finally here so it was perfect running weather this morning! Another 7 miles in the books and I got to meet up with my running group for the first 4.5 of it- that always makes it go faster! Less than six weeks to go until the half marathon!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Motivation Monday

I personally struggled with the motivation to get out there and run this past week. Part of it was because my dh is off on his annual fishing trip with his cousins to Cabo in Mexico...hard to get up, run and get the kids out the door in the morning and at night I felt like a hired driver going 2 or 3 places each night. Yes, I probably could have squeezed it in, but I was in a real bad funk last week. This week I vow to make it better...especially since I have my 10 K coming up in 4 weeks....:scared1:

How about another video...

I haven't watched the video from last week yet, but today's was awesome. I will be a crying hot mess the entire 13.1 miles!

I would definitely eat the chocolate and caramel cupcake! YUM!!

Saturday I did a 5K. I guess it was my "runniversary." I had a decent time. And my training schedule said 4 miles, so I kept going after I finished. :) I was winning a door prize when I walked by the tent at 3.98 miles. Lol.

Another great video! This time I made it to two and a half minutes in before I started tearing up, so I'm making progress! It's not the people or the course that really make me choke up, it's the spectators...all those people who woke up so early to cheer on their favorite runners...gets me every time. I'll have to work on my crying reflex between now and february so that I don't cry the entire 13.1 miles ;)

4 weeks until our 10K? I should probably get back out there & run...so I don't die. Ugh. It won't be pretty, but I will be with new friends at least :goodvibes

Well I'm not having the greatest luck this week...I've been having calf pain for the last two weeks and got it looked at...the docs think I have a torn calf muscle (something I injured last year that seems to have come back). Supposed to be running my first half five weeks from tomorrow and for now they don't want me running until I get an ultrasound of my calf and see a sports medicine doctor. I'm hoping that I'll still be able to do the half but it's not looking too promising at the moment. Fingers crossed that I can get back out there soon!!

What a CRAZY past week it has been for me...I am so sorry not to be posting. Two weeks ago my dh left on his annual cousins fishing trip to Cabo San Lucas...they we supposed to be home a week ago last Sunday, but a little thing called Hurricane Odile cancelled their flight and then they found them stuck in the middle of Odile and then the aftermath. It was a stressful past week trying to get him home, worrying about him because communication was down and I did not know what was going on, and running around with the kids to all their activities for another week (which was busier then the week before). Thankfully they were able to get a Red Cross flight out on Friday and he is some, a little battered but safe!

On the running front, well I tried this past week to get out there. Did my walking on Monday and then tried to run on Tuesday for a short run...yep the key word is TRIED. Stupid me...I have had a lot of district level meetings the last few weeks which calls for me to be dressed up and I have been wearing heels...I made the mistake a week ago of wearing a pair that I give me leg issues...well yep, they leg issues are there and the shoes are in the trash so that I don't make that mistake again. Last Tuesdays run was tough and I realized that I am going to have to sit out until the calf/sin pain is gone...and sadly I can still feel it when I walk. I am hoping to be out there tomorrow and maybe a walk today if I can fit it in! I have a 5K on Saturday so I really need to get moving!

Motivation front...

Here is an interesting article that I found....8 Things that Will Make Running Easier...LOL...if my body would cooperate that would make running a heck of a lot easier...

And of course there are those PHM videos...

Here is hoping that your week and your runs are motivated!
