PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

Nice Tammie!!! :woohoo:

No running for me today, I ran 4 yesterday and 5 a couple days before that and I'm having some calf pain...so rest it is!

Woohoo! Great job. I am a day behind in my runs. I had 4 for today but pushing it back until tomorrow to let me back heal a bit more.

And rest you both need...REMEMBER THAT! :rotfl2: Like I listen to my own advice!

Anyone running today! No race for me...but I did a 10k this morning on my own!::yes::::yes::::yes::
good for you!!

I "ran" the Baltimore 10 miler this morning. It was a good race and a beautiful morning but I just was off of my game. I almost hit snooze but that would be worse. So I went. My per mile pace dropped after 5 miles, but I finished in 2:07. Plenty of room for improvement.

Now I get to watch my son play in three lacrosse games today - woohoo!!

Well I am thinking more and more that I have my dates narrowed down for PHM...just need SW to release schedule which isn't until the morning I leave for Rome...figures.

I am thinking of leaving as early as possible on Wednesday morning...maybe even fly to dallas the night before and get a room so I can get an early flight to Orlando and then return as late as I can on Monday.

With that being said we have been tossing around room ideas. My room needs are simple, they usually are...place to relax, nice pool, and a hot tub. I am thinking this trip I will see more of the inside of the room aka the bed since I am planning to do all 3 races. We have tossed around the idea of AKL since the very start...and if I can make it work we are going to stay at the same place as the Tweedles and have a great cupcake time...the only thing...

I need to find someone to rent DVC points from...someone that will be flexible with payment. Remember I am paying for a Europe trip. Let me pay off the trip in a couple of payments and not all at booking...SO IF YOU CUPCAKES KNOW ANYONE THAT IS RENTING THEIR DVC POINTS AND MIGHT WORK WITH ME A LITTLE ON PAYMENT...let me know! We are looking at maybe a studio or 1 bedroom...or maybe a bunch of ladies want to go in on a 2 bedroom or villa...

We have already talked about this yesterday & this am, so you know I am good with AKV. :thumbsup2

I didn't ask you this morning, but I assume there was no pain...right?? :yay:

Great job, Tammie!!! That is wonderful run!!
I'm on vaca and was suppose to do 4. I love how hotels place treadmills facing the beach. Well I skipped the treadmill and just did the beach:rotfl2:!!
Lots of shameless eating going on so back on track next week when we return.

I am so happy you are starting to get some miles in:thumbsup2

My little one comes home from a week at grandmas today so we are out spoiling our oldest while he's still solo.

I like the times where there is just one...special times! They don't happen very much, so treasure them!

good for you!!

I didn't ask you this morning, but I assume there was no pain...right?? :yay:

Had a little weird pain in the opposite leg...but nothing that made me need to stop...just something more for me to worry about...now want to talk about PAIN...I can't move today! :rotfl2:

I think I would hit the beach too instead of the treadmill...you need to post a few pictures so we can all be on the beach...and enjoy the shameless eating!

I would love to learn how to post pictures!! Out of all the years I have been apart of the Dis. I have not made many connections however this cupcake thread has been wonderful. Are there instructions on how to post that are dummy proof? When I say I am a dinosaur when it comes to technology. I do really mean it!!!

I am so glad you are here Kafi! And glad you feel a part of it all! I can't wait to meet you in person...we cupcakes are going to have so much fun Sunday after the PHM. Hope you are figuring out a way to spend the day with all of us!

I will try to write some up for you...it really is not hard at all. The first thing you need is a photobucket account, which is free!

Anyone running today! No race for me...but I did a 10k this morning on my own!::yes::::yes::::yes::

I had a race yesterday, and I'm pleased with the results, especially considering that I hadn't run in about a week and a half. Yesterday was the first day in, like, two weeks, that it hasn't rained here.

My BFF and I before the race . . .

There were over 2,200 people signed up for the race, which began on Memphis' historic Beale Street . . .

I finished under 11 minutes / mile!

And, according to Nike+, crushed my 5K PR by a full 2 minutes!!

Gonna have to take it easy for the next couple of weeks . . . don't want to aggravate the ol' IT band too much. Next race is July 3rd!

And the cupcake of the week is right up my alley! I'd be all OVER that . . . YUM!

Sunday Stat’s
Tammie’s Training Log
Week of June 2-8

I know it has been awhile since I updated everyone with my training. Most of May was spent trying to deal with my shin issues so I did just a lot of walking when I could. When I could walk, my pace was constantly in the upper 16 mm pace because I was thinking through in my mind answers for my interview…so while I was focused getting out there and making sure I was walking, my heart was not focused on the training and speed.

Monday, June 2 (Walk- 2.52 miles/16:32 mm pace): Hello summer, well almost. While school is officially out for students and teachers, I still have this last week on my contract…and I am doing ½ day summer school for the month of June so that we can eat in Rome, LOL. Since I don’t have to get anyone around in my house and get them places (or share a bathroom) I can walk or run on weekday mornings.

Hello Summer...

Tuesday, June 3 (Interval Run-3.12 miles/12:57 mm pace): Time to test out the shins and my new weapons against my shins…it has been a week since I once again I tried to run but had to stop because the shins were in an issue. I made it through a 5K without issues…but once again not celebrating because we all know what happens.

This highline tower makes me think about Europe, can’t wait to see and go to the viewing deck in about 2 months of the Eiffel Tower or better yet a Orange Slushie with my cupcakes in Epcot!

Wednesday, June 4 (Walk-2.12/16:18 mm pace): Another pretty morning for a walk…although the city had the sprinklers going which makes for a fun time of trying to dodge as well as messing up my pace.

Thursday, June 5 (Interval Run-3.54 miles/13:14 mm pace): One of my greatest fears when I am running is dogs. I am not sure what this fear stems from, but I hate lose dogs and sadly in the area I live in lots of dogs get out or their owners let them run free which is why I tend to run at the park then through the neighborhood. When a stray dog is at the park, I find myself taking other routes, turning around when I see one, praying lots or getting behind someone else who is walking or running as we pass the dog…today there was a dog. I avoided him the first time around, the second time I got behind a group of walkers and found out that he was very friendly…so friendly that he decided to be my partner the rest of the work out and I found myself almost stumbling over him several times.

Friday, June 6 (NONE): This morning we awoke to much needed rain and I really needed a day of rest before my long run of the week.

Saturday, June 7 (NONE): Still raining and we ended up sleeping in…a bit of heaven that does not happen too often for me.

Sunday, June 9 (Interval Run 5.02 miles/13:15 mm): The rain finally left after raining 2 days almost straight, which is a really good thing for us with being in a drought for the last 4 years and the dust storms of epic portion this spring! After church I headed out the park, only to find a lot of the smaller path that I use under water…so I moved to the larger loop around the lake for my long run of the week. Still pain free and a great pace…and good distance.

Sunday Stat’s
Tammie’s Training Log
Week of June 9-15

June Mileage: 23.54 miles

Monday, June 9 (Walk 2.76 miles/16:01 mm): Boo had tennis lessons this afternoon so I walked while he had his lessons instead of getting up early and taking care of it before summer school.

Well I do live in Texas...

Tuesday, June 10 (Interval Run 3.26 miles/13:30 mm): So not feeling the running this week. Really had to push myself out of bed to get it done

Good morning...here is peak at what little of a skyline we have.

Wednesday, June 11 (Walk 3.12 miles/16:08 mm): Up and at it...I am trying all week each day to get in a 5K.

Reminds of Abigail the goose in the Aristocats..."every body wants to be a cat!"

Thursday, June 12 (Interval Run 3.20 miles/13:14 mm): Was it ever hard to get up this morning, but I got it done...plus a bonus walk (Walk 2 miles/16:49 mm) while Goo had flag football practice.

Love the sunrise...

Friday, June 13 (NONE): Much needed rest day before my long run on Saturday.

Sunday, June 14 (Interval Run 6.24/12:51 mm): Part of me was really dreading this long run that I had scheduled, 5 1/2 miles, but I knew it is what I need for my next Disney trip excuse! After dropping off Boo (my oldest ds) at Boy Scouts...his troops had to put up over 100 flags for flag day in yards as a troop fundraiser at 5:30 am. I headed to a park near by that I knew would give me ample room and trails for the long run I needed. I had the park to myself for the next 1 1/2 hours except for a huge soccer tournament that was being set up for. The first mile was really sluggish and I felt a weird pain in my right leg (not the bad leg from stress fracture summer) which while it did not stop me from running just brought some NOT NEEDED STRESS to my run. Miles 2-4 are usually really difficult for me, but today I breezed right through them and hit the wall about mile 4 1/2, again pushing through I made it to 5 1/2 feeling better, so much better that I did another 1/2 mile plus to finish at 6.22 miles...a full 10K! AND THE EVEN BETTER NEWS THAN THE DISTANCE (longest since ToT in October) WAS THE TIME. My pace was at 12:51 mm and I finished at 10K under 1 hour and 20 minutes!

These 2 jack rabbits were having so much fun chasing each other in the open field! Maybe one of them is Ba're Rabbit...love how I can think Disney in everything!

WAY TO GO ANDREAH...speedy girl! Congrats on the great 5K run! This calls for a celebration cupcake!

Awesome stats Tammie! It has been so so long since I've run! I did bike 8 miles hauling a 45 pound kid behind me with 3mph winds riding around Mackinac Island- that's about it for workouts lately! I've got to get back in the saddle!

The WELCOME HOME Special Edition
of our Cupcake Crawl

Zebra & Giraffe Cupcakes (plus added treat of Zebra Domes)
Mara @ Animal Kingdom Lodge

I thought I would give you a beginning of the week Special Edition of our Cupcake Crawl with a couple of cupcakes found at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. And why you ask are we being treated with a special treat? Well…

Debra and I (plus Cammy and Amy-who you have not officially met...she is an original flavored cupcake should their lives work out) are pleased to announce that we have a room reservation for Animal Kingdom Lodge-Jambo House for a studio room with a savannah room for February 18-23 (Wednesday-Monday)! We are beyond excited about where we are staying thanks to a little pixie dust sprinkled on us by another cupcake lady!

As always my needs are pretty simple anymore for a Disney trip, and I am so thankful that this room did not take 10 months :scared1: and lots of funny Disney math to be decided upon and Debra was willing to put up with my whims, desires, wants, needs. I wanted some place new to me and Debra. I wanted some place that I could relax at, knowing that this trip will be more about running then about rushing from attraction to attraction since I have turned in my tiara for a crown and reformed my OCD planning ways at Disney.

I have dreams of sitting on the balcony just enjoying the view and hoping for a couple encounters with some animals. I wanted a great pool with a hot tub.

And oh yes, cupcake friends (Karen, Nicole, Edie, Imbri are staying here too). And with the room DECIDED and BOOKED with 8 months to spare we can focus on the important stuff...PLANNING ON HOW WE ARE GOING TO ENJOY OUR TIME AT WDW TOGEHER and PERSUING CUPCAKES WHILE WEARING GLASS SLIPPERS!

Chocolate Butterfinger Cupcake (aka The Zebra)

This Zebra Cupcake is exactly what a cupcake themed after a zebra should be… a mix of white (vanilla) and brown-black (chocolate) representing the black and white (or is it white and black) stripes on a zebra.

The cool zebra-striped topper is white chocolate, while the crunchy brown garnish bits are milk chocolate brining a crunch and texture to the frosting. The frosting well, pure vanilla.

Inside the moist, chocolate cupcake base is a mix: the vanilla frosting from the top dips down into the center, but is complimented by its opposite: a dollop of chocolate frosting is in there, too!

The only disappointed is in the name, Chocolate Butterfinger and according to all the reviews I read…

“Well, I poked and prodded and sniffed. I consumed every element of this cupcake individually and mixed all together to see if I could detect the slightest hint of Butterfinger taste anywhere… but I just couldn’t. The thing is, this is a darn good cupcake. But those excited by the label (as I was) risk disappointment.”

Which is okay in my book because the Butterfinger at Starring Rolls was way too much for my tastes. I like subtle, in this case.

Orange Marmalade Cupcake (aka The Giraffe)

However according to reviews, The Giraffe Cupcake definitely lives up to its label of “Orange Marmalade.” The beautiful dark chocolate giraffe-printed piece sits atop very bright orange frosting. The frosting on this one, despite its color, is also vanilla, but dotted with yummy orange-flavored garnishes.

It has a yellow cake base with just the slightest hint of tangy orange citrus flavor to provide a subtle taste of orange without being overpowering. When eaten with the vanilla frosting, it has a really delightful creamsicle taste. I so can do that!

The filling however is where this cupcake earns its Orange Marmalade label. The filling is a orange marmalade chocked-full of orange chunks, so while the jelly consistency is still there, it serves primarily as a binder for the orange pieces. So in actuality, even though the feature flavor is orange, the texture brought to mind a Pineapple Upside-Down cake.

“I don’t believe I’ve ever used this word to describe a cupcake before, but the Giraffe Cupcake is actually quite refreshing. It could be an excellent choice for someone searching for something a bit lighter (in taste, not necessarily in calories) for their dessert.”

Zebra Domes

Okay these are not technically cupcakes, but I have to throw them in because I am so EXCITED to actually get to try one of these (or should I say several)…I have tried on all 3 trips to WDW to get to Boma. I have had the ADR each time, and each time I have cancelled, so maybe this time I will make it to Boma and if I don’t well…Mara has them!

Zebra Domes consist of a thin layer of white cake, a dome of Amarula Liqueur mousse, coated in a white chocolate ganache with a dark chocolate ganache drizzle. Amarula Liqueur is made from the fruit of the African Marula tree, and is described as having a fruity, caramel flavor…reminiscent of amaretto (my favorite booze Karen and Nicole).

My Thoughts: All of these treats will be on my list, probably as I arrive as a special WELCOME HOME arrival treat and then maybe pick one up to bring comfort as I ride the worst ride in all of WDW…the ME back to MCO!

Your thoughts?

Whoohoo! Party at AKL!! :cool1:

Ok, first off, I'm really blown away by the amount of variety in cupcakes. I guess I just never LOOKED that close before and realized how many different kinds were around WDW.

I have had the butterfinger cupcake at DHS (and liked it) so I think I would probably pass on the AKL Zebra so I could try the Giraffe. That looks yummy!

I like Zebradomes and have had them a few times, but they aren't as good as cupcakes in my book!

So excited for the party happening at AKL! I too never realized how many cupcakes are actually at WDW...and we are just getting started! I think this Sunday cupcake crawl is going to turn into a daily thing for me...save the Sunday crawl to the monorail resorts and Boardwalk...and enjoy daily a few of the park cupcakes!

:worship:Getting through the butterfinger cupcake at DHS...2 bites and I was done. We split the cupcake 4 ways and still did not finish it...way to rich for me and my family. Although I am sure I could be talked into sharing one...although there are some other pretties that I want to try at Starring Rolls.

Missing Cupcakes...

It seems we are missing a few cupcakes lately...Gina, JennyLou, Donna, Buffy, Samantha, Brandy, Sandi...

Hoping you just traded in your running shoes for flip flops this summer so far and are out enjoying yourself! Just want to let you know you are missed!
