PHM 2015-In Pursuit of Cupcakes While Running in Glass Slippers

I am thinking that we skip a post PHM breakfast/brunch and just set a time for cupcake crawl to begin as well as location! That way no one has to stress or rush...or die of hunger because they are speedy! No passing out after the race...only after we close down jellyrolls!

Might be best to hit resorts and rest anyway if your thinking of having a late night. Remember, wake up time that morning is around 3am!

What is this...REST...you speak of?? There's no resting at Disney! ;) This year I woke up at 1:40AM (couldn't sleep, too excited!) and after the race I cleaned up and hit the park for 13 more hours, including EMH! I was at MK until almost 1AM...23 1/2 hours later! :lmao:

I sleep when I get home from Disney...while at Disney I'm like this... :bitelip:

Lol ok, instead of rest, how about shower and reapply deodorant. I think we'll ALL need that. Especially if it's as humid as it was this year.

Omygosh yes! I MUST shower immediately after a race, I sweat a lot! I kept seeing people later in the day at Epcot with their costumes/bibs on still and I was like...ewww...I couldn't do that or people would be running in the other direction! :lmao: Maybe some people don't sweat much when they run a half marathon???? :confused3 (no idea how that's possible)

I was sweating before I ran a foot it was so humid! I can't imagine walking around after that. One year we did that after the 5k and I was uncomfortable all day. Definitely need a shower!

Hi Tammie - and other cupcakes! I am so far behind.

Tammie - I agree with the others that it might be tight on Boma brunch. But if you can squeeze in Boma breakfast during your trip, it's one of my favorites!

I have a question for y'all. June 28 my (the Galloway TOT) training schedule has me running 5 miles. That's no problem. But we have a night time 5k (untimed) that night. Should I run 2 miles in the morning and then the 5k? But then I wouldn't get the benefit of a long run on my long run day.

Maybe I could run the 5k on Saturday and then do a full 5-mile long run on Sunday morning, or even late evening? Would that be bad for me?

Hoping to hear your thoughts!

Y'all have a fantastic day! I just got home from a wedding in Memphis last night and am now on a plane to DC for the rest of the week. Will this whirlwind ever stop??

i would try for a two mile warmup for the 5k - is that possible? I've been reading about warmup runs and the 5k requires the longest bc of the short distance - 15-20 min jog before?? That would meet your quota.

Hi Cupcakes! I am very behind...and a little unmotivated! That's the reason I need to keep reading here! I have not been able to drag myself out of bed at 5am to run before everyone wakes up and while it's remotely "cool". I am thinking of setting my phone alarm to some kind of motivating song...maybe "Let's Get It Started" by the Black Eyed Peas! :goodvibes I'm going to try to catch up and hopefully I'll be updating you all with some good training updates soon! :thumbsup2

I finished under 11 minutes / mile!

And, according to Nike+, crushed my 5K PR by a full 2 minutes!!

Great job on your race!!! :woohoo:

The WELCOME HOME Special Edition
of our Cupcake Crawl

Orange Marmalade Cupcake (aka The Giraffe)

I am beyond excited about AKV!! And the Savannah view...I literally had a jaw drop moment when I got your message yesterday!! I cant wait to see animals out the window :cloud9:

Since I am not a huge chocolate cake person, I would have to give the giraffe cupcake a try.

And I just wanted to say great job on your training this month!! You are doing wonderful!!

I love the idea of a butterfinger cupcake so I would like to try that one! And I WILL BE AT AKL too! Only we are at Kidani, but I should be able to see you ladies on the bus! We will also be there Wed. to Mon.! My plan is to go first thing to the expo on Thursday so I can see the goodies and then meet DH and DD at one of the parks.

Yea! Another AKL/AKV person!! Princess party!!

So I am little bummed that I am not staying at AKL - I love it there and will enjoy it for ToT - but looks like I am missing the party!! :(. Is anyone staying at BWV??

Oh BW I  thee!!

MUSIC MONDAY

I know I dropped the ball yesterday, but I was so excited about booking a room...

What is your cool down song (s)...

I am a bad runner...I don't cool down, when my run is over...I just stop (when I get back to the car or house). So whatever is on the playlist at the time...

Question for experienced PHM runners...

I was chatting with Betsy last night on FB (since she has run PHM before)...do you think that we have time to finish PHM, head back to our rooms, shower/change and make "BRUNCH" at Boma? Boma's hours are 7:30-11:00 am. I am thinking there might not be enough time.

Sanna looks to have a pretty good menu and of course there is Mara at AK cupcakes wanted to meet at AKL before the crawl.

THOUGHTS?

Once I finished, got ice for my knees, finisher pics, etc, & finally found hubby...we had to wait a few min for a bus. We got back to hotel about 1015ish I think. So a late breakfast could prove to be tricky. I do very much want to eat bkfst at Boma though, but its not the end of the world if I cant.

I was surprised to see soooo many people in race costumes hours after the race each day also. I may not sweat a lot, but I cannot even begin to imagine not showering after a race. Ick!!

I personally would do the 5K that night & get your 5 miles in either in the morning of or the next day. Even if it means slowing down your pace for the 5 miles, you really need the distance. Although I know Galloway says its ok to break it up if you need to, but for me personally, I need to get it done in one stretch. I think either way you do it, you will be fine.

What is a TripIt????

TripIt.com is a fantastic website that aggregates all of your travel information into a nifty little itinerary that is accessible on all of your devices. All you have to do is to forward your confirmation emails to plans@tripit.com and everything happens auto-magically!

Andreah...are you thinking of staying at AKL too....that would be so great!

Yeah, I'm solo for now, so staying near my DISboards peeps would be great. Thats usually one of the least expensive Deluxe resorts and there are usually some good deals out that time of year.

I'm debating getting an AP for the early registration. I'd be able to use it in September 2-3 days, February 4 days and have lots of flexibility.

I will have to check this out!

No need to be alone...you are welcome to join Debra (maybe Amy H and Cammy) in all that we do...LOL right now all we can do is drool over menus. Thinking we need to buy the deluxe dining plan at the rate we are going! Of course ADRs are one of my favorite things about WDW!

My cool down songs for now...although I also skip it and get in the car (bad bc you end up with still sweaty after the shower here in the land of humid summers)

Did you write up an introduction and I missed it? I want to make sure we add you to the cast of characters if you want to be added!

Come on...get running! We are here to cheer you on! I have to run early in the morning too...I hate getting up but once I do and finish the run I am happy with myself for getting it done!

Well...lets just say after ToT I did not even use the wipes I had packed. I just wiped my face with the wipes they handed at the finish line and went on my merry way! ICK ICK ICK...but hey at that point I did not care and knew I would miss the entire party if I went back to the room! I did take a big plastic ziplock (freezer style) and packed my running clothes in that for the trip home...oh man that bag was awful when I unpacked it a few days later! :lmao:

I know I saw somewhere a listing of corral assignments and 10K proof of time correlation. Does anyone know where this is? I was wondering what time I should realistic try to work for to turn into for proof of time and what corral I would end up in.

Haven't seen it but I can tell you that I submitted a 1:21 10k for my proof last year and I was in the J corral.

I just could not resist booking that view for us...because I am beyond excited about it too!

Thanks...I like when I can run and not have to stress about the legs...although someone is about to have a monthly visit...so I will probably be back whining real soon! :crazy2:

Also, I did change last year with shower wipes and stroll through Epcot - but I did go back pretty much right after to ice and massage (luxury bath with tea and the Tottenham Hotspur on TV - pretty much perfect) mAy do the same this time and meet up for sugar rush :))

The only reason why I have cool downs is because I purposely make myself end the run part so that I have to walk back to the car...:rotfl2:

Tammie are you doing the GSC? It will be different depending on if you are doing PHM or GSC as they assumed the GSC runners would be going a little slower and put some of them back a corral. I submitted a 1:04 10K and was in F for PHM although I won't be surprised if I'm in G or H this year since I'm doing the GSC as well. I know there were some that were more detailed than this, but these at least give you an idea of around what corral for that times.

In order to find about what they would have as your half time from a 10K (they have their own system but it's very close to McMillan) go to http://www.mcmillanrunning.com/ and plug in your 10K time and it will convert it to a half time.

Thanks Karen! Debra and I are planning to GSC and walk the 5K.

I am really hoping to get my 10K time close to 1:15 or less. I did 1:19 this past weekend, so I think cutting 4 minutes off would be a do-able goal by fall when I plan to run one!

I really want to finish my half under 3 hours...closer to 2:45 if at all possible. Then again, I plan on enjoying this race a little more than ToT. Barring no injury, I know I don't have to stress about seeing the balloon ladies!

I would just like to run it without injury this time (and beat my time from this year!) I loved the race but was in such pain. I think I'll really love doing the 10K the day before, I can get all my pics out of the way and then just "settle into it" (my mantra) and PR my time from this year, hopefully NOT in pain this time! 2:51
