Last year we stayed at the Comfort Inn before our early flight and it was a disaster. We were told there were no shuttles left for the next morning's flight so DH had to drive me, the kids and the luggage to the airport, drop us off, go back and park and take a taxi to the airport. Same thing in reverse on the way home.

Has anyone stayed in any of the other AIrport hotels and had a good experience? Thanks.

We use the Hampton Inn Fly/Park packages. There has always been room on the shuttle and they serve a hot breakfast. You park across the street in the bank parking lot, and are given a parking pass. Return shuttle has always been prompt.

There are a bunch of places in this area - I work near the airport. Here are my suggestions -

Ramada - Not recommended. Unpleasant area and rooms badly need upgrading. :sad2: Plenty of parking, though I think there is a fee.

Holiday Inn - next door to Comfort Inn. A lot of airline workers stay here. There is a Denny’s close by.

Hampton Inn – probably the best choice. Nice property with a Ruby Tuesday’s next door.

Philadelphia Airport Marriott – very nice hotel, but charge for parking is regular airport rates after first night’s stay – yikes!!

Renaissance – about one mile from the airport. Again, a very nice property (this is right across the street from my office complex and we use them for conferences and meetings), but unsure about parking rates.

There are also some hotels listed on the PHL website - http://www.phl.org/hotels.html

We like the Holiday Inn. We usually don't have a problem there.

We have had a little trouble with the Comfort Inn shuttles, but the rooms have always been nice. You have to sign up for a shuttle, but they don't check, so you could have just gotten on a shuttle since they send them every 20 minutes or so. We have never had a problem going to the airport, but we have coming back had long waits.

The Ramada was absolutely disgusting, I wouldn't stay there if it is free. The rooms were horrible, and don't look like they have been refurbished since the 1960's. There is free parking at the hotel, or you can park in the secured lot for something like $7 a day. YOu don't have to stay at the hotel to use the secured lot.

Hope this helps.....

The Holiday Inn or Hampton Inn are good choices.

Whatever you do...stay far away from the Ramada. Although the shuttle service is pretty good ($7 a day I think)....I'd rather sleep in a box on the street!!! :sad2:

Actually DH booked the Hilton Airport Hotel this morning. Anyone know anything about this one. We did try the Marriott but they were booked up except for Concierge Level which I'm not going to do for an airport hotel.

If it is the Hilton on Island Ave. it is a nice place to stay. We stayed there in May on DH's Hilton Honor Points and left the car there for the week. I don't know if because he is a Hilton Honor Member we didn't have to pay extra to park or if it included in the room price for non-members. It is a has a sports bar that serves sandwiches and a nice restaurant "The Landing" that has excellent food (a little pricey, but not that bad). The Shuttle starts at 4am and runs every 20 minutes. It is only a Hilton Shuttle it doesn't stop anywhere but the airport and back again. When you return you just call them at the courtesy phone at baggage claim and they will come and pick you up. I think we only waited about 5 minutes after the call to be picked up.

I didn't know the hotels will let you park for a fee and shuttle to the airport! I would be more afraid of the hotel towing my car off then it getting ripped off. I was toying with the idea of staying nearby the night before our trip. My oldest dropping us off and picking us up.

I really wanted to get a ride from home, but I live at the Jersey shore and no one seems to drive to Philly for less then a few hundred. I called a few places.

Do you have to let them know your leaving your car for a week - or mention a fly/drive when you call for reservations???

check out this website. www.1clickhotels.com and then look for park and fly hotels in Philadelphia and then pick your dates to see if it is available you must pick the park and fly rate to be able to park. I think the website is self explanatory

Yes its the Hilton on Island Avenue. I saw the Landings restaurant mentioned on their website. I'm glad that you thought it was a nice hotel. It says it has a pool, do you know if its outside or inside. I thought we might go down in the early afternoon, let the kids swim and eat and hopefully they'll go to bed early since we have an early flight.

I did mention that I wanted the fly/park package. It was $209 and they are letting us keep our car parked there for 18 days so it sounds like a deal to us!

another thought on park/fly........we live in NE PA and usually leave on SW from PHL....I really don't feel comfortable leaving our car in ANY hotel parking lot unattended for a week so the last few times we've rented a car locally
(Budget) at a cost of $35.00 one way to PHL and then reserved same thing at PHL for the return trip (which is usually a few dollars more $38.00 since their surcharge is a little more) I try to get a flight about 11:00 a.m. or noon (since it takes us 2 hours to get airport) That way we don't have to leave super early.....as long as we're on the road at 7:00 a.m. we've got plenty of time. This way we can sleep in our own beds the night before the trip also. And since SW prices are so good, we still save a ton of money even with the cost of the rental car. In January there were six of us and DH just dropped us and the luggage at curbside checkin while he went to return the car to Budget....then he hopped the Budget shuttle back to terminal and met us at
security checkin. In May since it was just the two of us (not much luggage)
we both returned the car and then shuttled back with our bags and checked in. It's really very easy to do.

The pool is an indoor pool. There is also some exercise equipment too. We parked in the lot right in front of the hotel entrance. Not many spaces but at least there is always someone coming and going so we seemed to think it was safe enough. We noticed a lot of people parking and going to the airport.

Last year I stayed at the Comfort Inn at PHL and parked for free for a week after staying for a night. This year all the hotels have Park and Fly packages which don't usually have discounts. This year I stayed at the Holiday Inn because of an early fight and it went well.

We stayed at the Embasy Suites airport last year and they were great. I must have gotten a good rate (under $100) because I haven't seem them that low since. I booked through GoPhila.com. They serve a free breakfast too, but we were leaving too early to enjoy it. :sad2:
