Why has it taken Rose 13 years to admit to this crime? I know he was a great ball player, but I think Selig should tell Rose, if this is all true, that he will have to wait 13 years before he is eligible for the Hall of Fame.
Report: Rose Ready To Admit Betting On Baseball
Admission Called Last Hurdle To Entering Hall Of Fame
A friend of Pete Rose told a newspaper that the hit king is ready to admit that he placed bets on Major League Baseball games, according to a published report.
The report, published Tuesday in Newsday, said Rose has indicated to MLB Commissioner Bud Selig that he is willing to make the admission and apologize for denying it for the past 13 years.
The friend spoke to the newspaper on the condition of anonymity.
The admission and apology could come with a six to eight-month probationary period, according to the anonymous friend. A probation of that length would allow Rose to enter the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004.
