Petals & Pixie Dust Planning Journal 11/30/2009/2010

This seems to be bringing my mom, dad and I closer together. It's actually really sweet. I have an hour commute to home from work on Fridays...I usually spend that time on the phone with my mom. Who informs me that she had updated my father on all the drama and he said "It's her day. She should get what she wants." :lovestruc

Sorry, it was the one good thing to share today...and I had to pass it along!

Good luck with your talk with DF. I don't think he can object too much if it will save everyone money. I like Heidi's approach too!

Aww, that's so sweet that it's bringing you and your parents closer together, at least that is something good to come out of things. And it's true, as the bride you should get what you want. ;) I know DF's family is giving you problems, but I think when they are actually at the Wedding and see how great it is they will change their minds.

Hmm, I think you probably would have to shuttle people to the Boardwalk, otherwise it might be tedious trying to get there, like monorail to MK or EP then bus to BWI. I was not too thrilled about providing transportation either, since Disney seems to have jacked the prices way up for it :confused3, but it really does make your guests life easier. I'm thinking of going with an outside vendor for transportation, but haven't started really researching that aspect yet.

Awww hun - sounds like you're having a nightmare of a time!

We're lucky that it's only my family and not Tims as he hasn't spoken to them for over 12 years. It does have it's advantages...

Try and stick to your guns as much as you can to get the wedding you have dreamed of.

We have got crystal Cinderella slippers as wedding favours and the are really pretty - quite reasonable too. I got them off ebay.

I like the thought of saying to people "I'm will be here at this time in a white dress!"

Great they give me grief and I have to play nice??? What the duck? Figures. I never thought of looking for outside vendors for transportation...Can't they just hitch hike? :rotfl:

Awww hun - sounds like you're having a nightmare of a time! Thanks...My mom keeps saying that "a wedding shouldn't be like this." I feel really bad-the one person I thought was going to give me a hard time-even when she has her moments has really stepped up to the plate!

We're lucky that it's only my family and not Tims as he hasn't spoken to them for over 12 years. It does have it's advantages...That's my side of the family. I only have contact with my mom's side of the family-that's it!

DF and I talked some about wedding stuff. His take is as long as we aren't going broke and can pay for airfare we're good.
It's better than where we were I guess. Right?

lol, I know I wish they could just hitch hike! :rotfl2:

In my case it will be August and extremely hot, so even though everything will be in the GF vicinity, I can't really expect people to walk, and it could rain.

You could let them take Disney transportation to the ceremony, but then you have to trust them to get there on time, and Disney transportation can be unreliable sometimes.

If it's not that many people and you could all go together so there's no chance of people getting lost you may be able to use Disney transportation, it will probably just take longer.

That is better than where you were. You are getting your Disney wedding! :goodvibes. It just seems like the airfare thing is your DF's must have. My DF's must have is a million people at our wedding, so I think yours is actually cheaper! :rotfl: Sometimes we have to give in a little to get what we want. ;)

You're right on the Disney Transportation thing...it can be unreliable.../so can hitch hiking I guess...Oh well...I'll have to figure that one out.

:goodvibes Well, it looks like you're getting somewhere... Yeah I'm throwing my vote in for hitch hiking...

I'm also liking your idea of booking everyone on different flights :rotfl: or, you could tell everyone that to get the special rate that they're offering, their seats are scattered around the plane, and make sure sure book them each seats in between two strangers :lmao:

This could be fun!

 for your Jack Pack!

They maybe scattered around the plane! Someone on the transportation board said to look for tickets at different times...Meaning-we have 8 people total...look for 4 people for one flight and 4 people for the next...or break it up in groups of 2 to make sure everyone has seats. So, they might very well be on different flights and in different places! I didn't think about that until just now...I just took his advice and said "yeah that makes sense" :rotfl2:

I'm so glad you got your Jack Pack! Did you get a chance to go through it yet?

I got a chance to go thru it. DF has not. I cried. I'm such a sap!

I got info on the Attic today. Unfortunately, we can't use it b/c we need a min of 25. I have 8. :rotfl2: Numbers are a little off there. I'll just have to find something that will work. No worries.

First day of work today. It was fun, boring at times-but over all not bad. I'll go back tomorrow.

TTFN. I need dinner, fill out some paperwork, and a nap...gotta get up and do it all again tomorrow! :thumbsup2

(I work for wedding stuff!)

I'm glad i'm not the only one who cried going through Jack day's stuff! I cried like a baby!

Who gave you that info on the attic? I got the info from my planner and she said there wasn't a minimum to the number of people just the food and beverage mins.

The Attic ~ Disney’s BoardWalk Resort:

The food and beverage minimum for events ending prior to 5:00 p.m. is $1,000.00 (exclusive of wedding cake, service charges and sales tax). For all events ending after 5:00 p.m. the food and beverage minimum is $2,500.00 (exclusive of service charges and sales tax). Menus are buffet style only. Background style music and non-amplified entertainment is permissible

thats straight from my planner HTH! :)

I got my info from my planner as well. However, if you look at the bottom of the menus it says "Minimum 25 People" or something like that...

oh no... I'm going to email my planner again... i'm going to be so bummed! Although that doesn't make much sense because if they're offering it to escape brides than unless they invite the full 25 and pay the extra $500 to have 25 people none of us would be able to do it.

Hmmm... Never fear, we'll get to the bottom of this!

I emailed my planner as well. One of the two of them will get back to us...worse come to worse I'll add an ice sculpture...that should count as food right? :rotfl2:

We'll find something...always good to have a back up plan! or 4

lol Yes! i just sent my email!

I really hope there isn't a minimum to the people. that'll stink big time! I mean i could always invited Randy, Reverend Day, Maybe some other DISers that'll be in the area hahahaha

EUREKA!!!!

I just got an email back... there is NO minimum to the number of people as long as you meet the F&B minimum! WOOHOO!!!!! You can totally do the attic!!!

Awesome! Now to come up with a FB minimum....My mom was like-"Um. How are we going to use $1000 in food!" She just wasn't grabbing the concept.
Is there a venue fee?

nope no venue charge just F&B! I was thinking the same thing... pretty much every one is getting filet mignon or maine lobster at our reception!
