Petals & Pixie Dust Planning Journal 11/30/2009/2010

...to reconfigure everything around the honeymoon!!!!

Seriously. I can't believe I'm writing this. DF and I found out YESTERDAY about DCL positioning in Alaska in 2011. A girl I work with told me, which lead to a frantic call to DF ending with "Just wanted to tell you. Bye." :lmao:

So, today DF and I are talking about how hmmm...it is possible...we were planning on doing the legal thing before the DFTW b/c I need health insurance and then just calling the DFTW the "wedding" and leaving it at that. I didn't know how I felt about this...but it was cool. Others do it...Why not me? That meant 2 dresses, 2 venues, 2 different flowers...hmmm...totally possible...but I felt detached from the legal marriage b/c it didn't come with the bells and whistles...Seriously, this has to take place like October/November...Yeah nothing is planned for that...ANYWAY...So, DF and I are batting around doing the legal thing...Doing the vow renewal at WDW in 2011 just before hiking it over to Vancouver to catch a boat to the honeymoon of our dreams...Disney is all about dreams right??? Ok so I might have to give up Mickey and Minnie...not sure if I can do that...but ALASKA! Seriously...How do you give that up?
We are just waiting on prices from the TA (we are castaway club members and have sailed more than 5 nights...So, we could book on 9/21/2009-Yup 2 days away...) I'm still gonna hold out for Mickey and Minnie unless we need that money...and looks like I'm gonna get 2 weddings out of the deal...Did I mention that the first one might take place in NYC...oh yeah that tid-bit...We couldn't come up with ANY PLACE that had ANY MEANING to us where we live...but WDW and NYC have always had a special meaning to us...(see earlier in this PJ RE: Skating at Rockefeller Center)

So, stay tuned there is more to come!!!

(PS still waiting on an interview...just coasting right now...but might be in hyper drive wedding planning like ASAP!!!)

that cruise sounds awesome! i watched a whole documentary about alaksa and it looks beautiful! It would be an awesome honeymoon that you'd never forget!

if it makes you feel better I keep ASKING DF if we can just go to townhall! Hahahaha! But i completely understand how you're feeling. If you NEED to get married just do it when you need to and then do a VR in disney with the alaska honeymoon after! you don't have to call it a VR either... just think of the first wedding as for legal reasons but the disney wedding as what REALLY matters!

Katie:
That is what I am trying to do. It is working for the most part. We are going to have to legalize it (LOL) in the next 2 months! (holy cow that is quick!) We were batting around NYC...but that isn't going to work...24 hour waiting period...flights...time off from work. It might as well happen here. Then we tried to figure out how we could do it somewhere incognito...Too difficult...
DF mentioned this AM that its ok if we keep with our original plan (legalization 2009, then wedding 2010, then honeymoon 2011) SHEESH! What a timeline!!! :rotfl: Getting health insurance is about as bad as getting a green card! :rotfl2: but he's willing to do anything that we need to do. :lovestruc I'm the difficult one. I want the fairytale...a day to remember...and only one day...We have to have two...DOES ANY OTHER WOMAN EVER COMPLAIN ABOUT BEING THE CENTER OF ATTENTION 2 DAYS IN A ROW....what is wrong with me...I'd get 2 sets of flowers...2 dresses...2 sets of jewelry...why am I complaining??? I never thought it would be so fly by night and difficult....:confused3 I have to start seeing this as a good thing...and fun...

I think having to study for an upcoming certification exam, the job thing unresolved, and the stress of everything else is just getting to me...:scratchin

So, with that being said...Our wedding trip may only be a 4 day trip-minimum for Escape stays. We won't have to worry about all the running around for a marriage lic. Which is cool b/c I wasn't sure how that would all pan out (get a rental car at WDW ARE YOU NUTS! :lmao:) We will most likely stay at the POP-it's cheap and easy. :teacher: We might have to cut out Mickey and Minnie :guilty: Not super thrilled about that b/c it was my one element that was disney-ish. No dessert party...again a bit bummed. honestly if I had an extra $2000 it would make life sooo much easier right now. Not sure what we would do for a meal...maybe 1900 Park Fare??? Who knows.

In someways, I just want to elope *gasp* my mother would kill me. KILL ME. And this whole wedding thing-even thought I thought we would fight over the dress and fight over this and that...It has really brought us closer together and that is important to me... So, I definitely don't want to cheat her out of her only daughters wedding. I really want to take her to GF for the night before the wedding so that we can get ready together there and be right on the grounds of the WP.

So, we are having dinner with my mom and dad tonight...we can chat about all things wedding then...my TA is looking at prices tomorrow for the cruise. (thank goodness we are castaway club members!) I think we will be doing everything as stated above...it will just take some juggling to figure it out. I'm so glad I have you girls to talk to...this is harder than I thought it would be!!!

PS...for the legal ceremony...I'm having my dress made t-length, scoop neck...maybe v-neck...scrunchy mid section...now if I could afford the beadwork I want I'd be golden!!! *LOL*

And here is the rest of the stuff I'll need help with...
Any color ideas?
Flowers? (actually I think I'm going to carry my grandmothers bible instead...sentimental reasons...)
I might even try to use my grandma and grandpas wedding date... :lovestruc

Times a ticking! :hourglass but I've got some studying to do...off to do that...Wedding stuff later...

Gosh I feel like I'm back at square one...At least Disney is pretty much planned!!!

Don't worry it will all come together and I don't think the extended timeline will be such a bad thing. It just means you'll always have something new to look forward to!

It is a shame you won't be able to have Mickey & Minnie, but it will be Disney-ish because you're at Disney! You could always do a character meal during that trip and get your Mickey fix, I recommend Donald's Safari Breakfast, I love that one!

Radnerbell: Welcome! Thank you for coming out of lurkdom. It's great to have you here! Thanks for keeping up with the saga!

And what a saga it is!
After I wrote my last entry...the stress and frustration started all over again! It went from legalization 2009, wedding celebration 2010, and cruise 2011...To wedding 2009 (at home no Disney) Cruise 2011, vow renewal in 5 years.
At this point I'm in TEARS :sad1: talking to my mom telling her I don't care what happens, go ahead and plan it, do what you want it's not my day it's just what ever is convenient for everyone else. <I shed a lot of these tears...Then, DF and I had a talk. The short of the long...we were both tired of all of it. We were trying to make too many people happy and now were both hating every minute of it. Then, DF called his sister to talk to her. Her statement was that its our day and we should do what we want to do and that we've given people plenty of notice. I felt like this :worship:
So, the timeline...Legalize with in the next month...Yup you heard it right folks...Wedding celebration 2010 as planned!!! :dance3: Alaska 2011 DCL for the honeymoon-provided that it isn't too ridiculously expensive. (this is DF's one request-I will do my best to move heaven and earth so that he can have this!!!) Holy cow what a sigh of relief. DF and I are pretty happy about all of this. I really do feel like a real engaged couple. The stress seems to have lifted. We're having fun again! :woohoo:
I have to say I know that sometimes I get down on DF about all of this (or I did in the past) Please understand that I come here to vent (I know that you all know that but I feel the need to say it) He really is a great guy and is an amazing man...Thank you all for listening and keeping up with the ground hog day battles and helping me thru my frustrations. It has meant more to me than you will ever know!!!

Ok now we're off to plan...:bride::groom:

Girls, I need your help!
I posted this on the main board too, but thought that I would post it here...
I'm in need of dangly sparkly earrings...I'm having a tough time finding what I want...So, I figured I'd ask you all for help. I'm looking for simple, sparkly and relatively cheap. Please post pics and links so I can purchase them!

THANK YOU!

Ok, I have questions first, because I don't remember! :rotfl: Are you still wearing the tiara? Or are you going with your grandma's bracelet? Or both? I saw previously you had pearl earrings picked out, would you still like pearls?

And what I found awhile ago are not earrings (:rotfl:), rather a necklace, but I love it and thought I would share. I think it would look awesome with your gown/your grandma's bracelet if you match the pearls and gold enclosures, especially since your dress is the goldeny color. I understand if it is not your style, but I think it would be awesome! :goodvibes

I present, the DIY pearl necklace:

And once you answer my questions, I will search for earrings for you! ;)

Whoops...Maybe I should clarify...just a little...this is for a new dress! We are legalizing our marriage first in the next couple of weeks. I just left my seamstresses house...She is making my dress...No tiara. I don't want plain earrings...just something pretty and sparkly.
We WILL be doing the Disney thing in 2010 as planned...but we need to do this now. :goodvibes

Good luck with the job! I'm glad everything is all working out with the wedding too! :goodvibes

I actually was able to find a pair of chandelier earrings at target, I thought I had a pic but I don't. I got them for DFSIL's wedding and they were less than $15.

Mandy certainly knows where to find the bling, now doesn't she? :rotfl:

I have been browsing Kohls.com for you. They actually have really cute pearl earrings in the shape of flowers, but their website is down now. :(

Lol ya I do!!

I was going to post before...I LOVE that necklace you posted! I want it!!

You Girls are the best!
Its been a whirlwind here...to say the least...
The details. I'm not totally sure.
I have a photographer! It's a friend of mine that has done wedding photog in the past...and has offered to be on stand by.
The dress. I met with my seamstress yesterday...She sent me a quote today. The dress I want is gonna cost about $95 and that was before materials...:scared1: I was hoping it would be a little less than that. So, I'm weight that decision. SO, if you happen to be looking for something to do and can find a pretty t-length cream colored or white colored dress I'm game.
No flowers for this wedding! I'm actually going to carry my grandmothers bible instead.
The officiant: it looks like one of my old professors might be doing the service. Mom is going to check with him...It might even take place in his office...Who knows.
The guest list..most likely just my mom and dad. (we need witnesses) I don't know if DF is going to include his mom and grand parents...but what ever.
Dinner: our favorite local steak house.

For the job I have right now I get travel expenses...So, we are using that ...needless to say-it gives a new meaning to the term budget!!!

The kicker is that after we decide to do this legalization bit, I get an email for the job I've been telling you all about. I interview at the end of October for that. This would have to happen before the end of October b/c my health ins is up 10/31. Last time I interviewed at the same place they took a month to get back to me! That doesn't work for the timing..So, I think this is a go either way!!!

So, if you find a little white dress send it my way! Anything under $100 would make me very happy...Sarah...post your baubbles too!
