Petals & Pixie Dust Planning Journal 11/30/2009/2010

I'm picking up my Disney Dress today!!!
Mom and Dad are coming with me. I can't wait to see my dads face when he sees me in it. (No worries...camera is coming with me!):cheer2:

Here is the quick update...
Picked up my gown-it's perfect! Dad's jaw dropped...The tiara works! Mom's veil will work-but we found another one we liked...*sigh* It's all very sparkley! :goodvibes
So, since David's Bridal was having their $99 dollar sale mom and I decided to head that way (I got a $50 gift card when I went to the bridal show) Yeah. Well...it wasn't $99...It was $250:rolleyes: after the $50 off it was $200...but I loved it so much that I had to have it and DF was cool with it...it's perfect for our home ceremony!
Now mom wants to change the dates from 11/30 to sometime during the weekend. :confused3 She is frustrating me...but what ever. It's the first time they've said anything ...and it really isn't that big of a deal...but ...I don't know we've always been on with 11/30...We shall see what happens...and what DF has to say...

All in all it was a great day! Life is good! :dance3:

Ok, So, I've been waiting to write this...but if I wait any longer I'm going to forget all the events. Unfortunately I only have these 2 pictures. I should have more tomorrow of the new dress...but don't want to post them b/c I'm afraid of some lurking eyes...Sometimes I think DF has found Dis and other times...I'm not sure he knows the boards exsist...I don't want to chance it.

Anyway...Last Friday I met mom and dad downtown...They were already at the bridal shop...and dad was all upset b/c he didn't have batteries for his camera...Since this was the case, the owner of the shop told dad where he could get batteries and said that by the time they got me into my gown he would be back...Mom and I did a quick once over for a "legalization gown" but didn't find anything 1. Cheap enough and 2. that we likes...Oh my the bridesmaid dresses in white or even off white were HIDEOUS! Bad Bad Bad...No good.
So, I got into my dress...I explained to the girl that was helping me that I wanted pics of my dads first look...hmmm...yeah she didn't do so well with that...His first look, his jaw hit the floor...Seriously, jaw went slack and everything...Here are the pics that she got of him...

This is what dad looked like just about the rest of the time we were in the shop...

My dad has the rest of the pics...I mean seriously...He took pictures of EVERYTHING...
We figured that the tiara that I was soo worried about wearing...WORKS! My grandmothers bracelet works as well...HOWEVER...We are very afraid that it will snag on the overlay of the dress and that would be a disaster. The woman at the bridal store said "It's a beautiful bracelet, and no, it doesn't touch the dress now...but you're not in the middle of the frenzy of the day..."I hate to admit...She's right. The one moment I'm NOT paying attention, I'm going to end up with a major snag in the dress...OK...So, I'll wear the cinderella swavoski one I have. Done.
They chose a veil for me...and I loved it!...and I told them "I don't want to love this one...I want to use my moms." I also didn't want to spend $250 for it!!! :scared1: We are still going to see how my moms will work out...and if not..I might try to find something on ebay...or one of the various internet site in the bridal bargains book...it's just that $250 is a lot to spend for tulle and crystals...but it glimmers just the right way with the dress...*sigh*
We picked out shoes (the knot ones earlier in this PJ) and picked the dye for those...(called ivory towers)
We put the dress in mom and dad's car...and we were off for dinner.

On the way home, I stopped to get DF a pizza...and then remembered that the last day of Davids Bridal $99 sale was on Monday (all of this took place on Friday Night) So, I call my mom and ask if she could make it on Sunday...Then, we decided since DB is open until 9PM that we would just go that night...I called DB, got an appt, and called DF to tell him I'd bring his pizza, but was going with mom to get another dress...:rolleyes1 He was cool with it.

I get mom and she tells me that they (mom and dad) don't want to hold the wedding on a weekday b/c they have to work. Um 11/30 is a MONDAY...DF wants to keep it that way so that our DFTW is on 11/30 and it will be our 1 year anniversary...I end this conversation quickly...Mom said the date is negotiable...When I talked to DF he said the date is ABSOLUTELY NOT negotiable...I told him to take it up with my mother...I'm not getting in the middle of that one...YIKES!

We get into DB and it seemed like forever for someone to tell us how they "work." So, we go and pick 3 dresses...Tried them on...they all sucked..BAD...Really bad...very bad...no good...:headache:
We go off and get 3 more dresses-all ball gowns...The first was ok..not super thrilled but in a pinch would work...The second one...better...just needed the straps pulled up some... the 3rd dress I loved  the bodice was all beadwork. The dress was an a-line...and then it had an organza overlay with pick-ups...The exact dress I wanted had I NOT gotten the dress I had...(I feel like I'm cheating on my dress...even though I love my dress) Every time I came out my mother would say -in a pretty criticizing manor."Nope, that's too much." To the point where the other MOBs were looking at it...This basically caused my mother to explain the whole story...Short short version...then all the other mothers understood. We also had to explain this to the woman that was helping us...I told her about a dress I had seen and I wanted to try it on but I didn't want to order it...nor did I want to pay an arm and a leg for it...I described it to her and she said show me...So, I brought her to the one I wanted. She asked what size the dress I was wearing was. It was a 6!!! She went and got the same dress in my size. My next question was, what is the price...Well, with sale it was $249. With my gift card from the bridal show it was $199. I tried it on and all the woman kept saying "that is your dress." I loved it...if you want to check it out...It's Galina T9337..all it needed for alterations were bra cups. I had a bit of a uni-b@@b going on...the bra cups defined it some.It is adorable! I love it! We got shoes too. I'm going to make my birdcage veil and get some flowers for my hair and voila! The look is done!

I will post more pics as soon as I get them!

WOOHOO! It's all coming together...only 45 more days! Ok off to bed...its been a long day!

His initial reaction was soo sweet...I wish she would have caught it...I guess sometimes when you want something done you have to do it yourself...but his jaw hit the ground! It was so sweet! He thanked me for inviting him and that it was a really important moment for him. :goodvibes Thru all of this he has been really supportive. Life is good!

IF YOU ARE MY FIANCE DO NOT GO ANY FURTHER!!!

...So, DF and I were at my parents house for dinner...which my mother asks, "Is your mom coming to the little ceremony?" DF replies "Don't know." Mom "Does she know about this?" DF "Yup. I just don't know what her plans are." hmmm...I know Lindsay22 posted a great statement that in-laws aren't all into the planning thing and I appreciate that post more than anything! This seems a little weird to me...

OH! and a friend of ours got married a bit ago..AND SHE WAS WEARING MY DISNEY DRESS!!! No worries, I look way better (sorry being caddy) ...but holy panic! :rotfl:Luckily we weren't at that wedding...but still...:rotfl2:

I never really paid attention to the V in the back...it is pretty cool. Thanks for pointing it out Stace.
I will probably keep the sox...I'll wear my peep-toe pumps (my first pair ever!) and then when all is said and done...kick those off and put on my socks!
:rotfl:

Hey Jamie,

I love your dress - very very nice. It looks great on you and the style really suits you.

We're really lucky that we don't have inlaw problems (Tim hasn't spoken to them for 12 years) but I did when i got married years ago. Hang in there... :goodvibes

I love your little dress! It's perfect for what you're doing!

It's all racing up so quickly now!

Thanks! What bugs me is that his mother pressures him, doesn't talk to me, nor does she listen research etc. The battle is pretty much over. We are just planning away...*fingers crossed there aren't anymore issues!* <=doubt it...something is bound to come up. LOL

Thank you! I love both dresses! Each one is perfect for the occassion!

the dress is super cute, I think it's perfect!

Thanks! :thumbsup2

So, here is where we are for the legalization...

Officiant: Professor from college! He's a ham...and so the ceremony will be very light

Flowers: White Roses-should be decide to do any at all. I'm carrying my grandmother's bible. The same one she carried when she got married.

Cake: actually, a friend of mine from work will be making this! All I need to do is get her the supplies!

Photography: Again, another girl from work!

Favors: I've been toying around with just because I want to get the officiant a GC to a local restaurant and the photographer an AMEX GC to say thank you...most likely the same for the woman doing the cake. Wouldn't it be awkward to have cards for them but no one else? Honestly, I think the idea is a bit much, but at least everyone would leave with something. Oh the decisions!

Mom hasn't been too bad bridezilla wise. So, that makes life easy. The biggest dilemma is what room in the house to have the ceremony. In front of the fire place-the TV is in the way and there isn't enough seating (for all 4 people) In the livingroom...There is enough seating, but the furniture gets in the way...

Have I mentioned this is starting to get fun! (It's about time)

I LOVE the dress! So perfect for your little ceremony! It's all coming together so fast but sounds like it will be perfect:thumbsup2 I can't remember what your Disney dress looks like for some reason so I'm back to search through the pages... but seriously POST THE REST OF THE DRESS PICS ALREADY:rolleyes1

The rest of the pics are on dad's camera...and it's a bit hard to get to dad's camera without DF present! The online pic: google maggie sottero Grace.

So, DF and I are going to get our wedding lic. and meet with our officiant for our legal ceremony (T-minus 38 days!!! ::yes::) So, like the good DF that he is...and since I really don't have a clue about all of this (or at least it never occured to me-FL I'm all good...where we live...not so much...) he looks up what we will need in order to get the lic. Hmmm...ok...yeah. We need a birth certificate AND a passport or drivers lic. Now, let me remind you...You need your birth certificate for both your drivers lic. AND your passport...but they want it again...

Ok so, DF freaks out...like at one point when I was trying to go over the vows that the officiant sent us screeches "Not now. I have to figure this out." He doesn't screech too often...if ever really...but his face turned 4 shades of red and he wasn't super happy...I'll just go with it. Then, he explains his dilemma...His BC is at his moms house 3 hours away. So, we were going to have a leisurely breakfast and relaxing day...but...um...yeah...He has to get up at 3-4:00 AM to drive 3 hours :car:, get his BC, turn around and come home :drive:, go get marriage lic., and then go meet the officiant at 3:30! :scared1:

Um..ok so my BC is not at our apt. Let's just hope that it is at my parents house. I'm pretty certain it is...but if it's not...oh gosh...it isn't going to be pretty...:headache:(I'm pretty certain it's at my parents house...its not in any of the places is would be if it were here...:rolleyes1
