went to the grocery store a while ago......i just need to ask........

HOW MANY TIMES have one of you been down the (lets say, boxed cake aisle! :thumbsup2 ) and you have your cart pulled all the way over to the side (because it drives me crazy when people just wander around aimlessly and leave their cart in the middle of the aisle), i am standing across from the boxed cake mixes (the aisle is now between me and the boxes so people can get through, because i am considerate like that) just
contemplating...hmmm :scratchin white cake mix, devils food cake-- whatever! anyway--- ........you see them coming your way...pushing their cart....that BLANK stare in their eyes......and you know its going to happen because they start slowing down as they get closer to the boxed cake mix in front of you!!......here she comes....and BOOM! of course it happens!

STOPS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU IN THE AISLE AND LOOKS AT THE CAKE MIXES!!! yes, blocking my view...right in front of me  WHAT??!

HELLO-- do YOU SEE ME STANDING RIGHT HERE LOOKING!?...i think, hey-- maybe i am invisible.. you know, it happens sometimes, i just dissapear pixiedust: .......maybe she doesnt care that i also would like to purchase a baked cake mix for a party i will be attending that evening.......

i had this happen SO MANY at the store i finally was fed up and said VERY sternly (is that a word???) EXCUUUSE ME! with the tone like-- i cant beleive you just did that to me!

and her response....."oh- excuse me".....thats all..... oh- excuse me.

why dont people have some common sense-- where did it all go????

i could vent all day...maybe i will be back later with more!

i am sure you all have SOME!!! :hyper:

I could have written this same thread! I swear I'm invisible at the grocery store! Maybe we need a flashing light to attach to our cart?! Now there's an idea!

It's even worse now with cell phones. So many times I see someone (ok, it's usually a guy) with a cell phone trying to find the right brand/size of whatever completely oblivious to other people in the aisle.

Come on down and grocery shop with me in "Blue Head Heaven"!!! Believe me, you ain't seen nuthin yet! All the retirees who have ALL the time in the world and are confused as to whether thery're still back home shopping or, oh yeah.... on "holiday" in sunny FL. Oh, and just wait till you see them attempting to back those big 'ole Mercuries out of a parking space!

LOL - it has happened to me before too - I just figured most people are in their own little world when they shop and they are truely oblivious to anyone else around them.

I've had that happen to me, and I just cringe! I try to go shopping in the morning and only during the week! :goodvibes

Where I shop, people nearly always park their carts in the middles of the aisles where you can't get around them. :confused3

I usually grocery shop around 8:00 AM. The stores are pretty empty, though I still run into my fair share of cart slammers and cart blockers. I loathe going to the supermarket when it's crowded. Right before a blizzard is the worse time to go. Ever.

My pet peeve is when people do not return their carts to the cart place when they are finished shopping. Why do they leave their cart just sitting there in the parking lot?? From any given parking space, it isn't *that* far of a walk to return your cart to the store itself or to one of the cart return areas in the lot.

It also bugs me when people leave their coffee cups (there's a Starbucks in the store, and the carts have mug holders) in the carts. :scared: There are garbage cans in the store and outside the store.

too too funny, just got back from Delray Beach visiting my not so old parents and me and my dad just crack up at Publix, inside the store and outside the store. The parking lot is like bumper cars. You hit the nail on the head w/ the Mercuries. Although I must admit that my dad has a bil ole Buick Roadmaster. He says he only keeps it so he can use his V-8 to pass people on A1A. That car can move!

My pet peeve about grocery shopping (or any shopping really) are the people who don't even get their wallets/checkbooks out until the clerk gives them a total.

Granted, it doesn't add that much extra time to those waiting in line, but hello! You know you are going to have to pay for the stuff eventually. Why not get out your wallet while your stuff is being rung up instead of staring into space or making idle chat with the cashier.

Buick Roadmaster! Those things *can move* and are huge! Hate to admit this, but my very own DH has been looking at Cadillacs and Lincolns the past 2 weeks. I think he's about fed up with the traffic and just want to run over somebody. As it is now, we both drive little 2 seaters. :teeth:

One word--Costco!

The shopping carts are larger, and it seems like everyone blocks the aisle without even trying. In fact, the other day I was backing out of an aisle, and a woman turned into the same aisle I was backing out of. She stopped dead and just looked at me (there was a sample person there so the entranceway to the aisle was half its normal size). I had to move forward, wait for her to pass me, and then turn around, because sure as heck she refused to back up to let me out.

There have been plenty of times at Costco when I couldn't even get down an aisle because so many people had it blocked.

NO! believe it or not i am not talking about elderly people-- these are 30's 40's 50's--- clueless! and these are the people also backing out of the parking spots- they just gun it! like they assume no one will be walking or driving behind them while they are pulling out!

and you want to know what elso scares me-- there are also the people driving on the roads-- clueless also.

how many times do you see people blocking the entrance or exit to a place while they are stopped in traffic- like the whole world revolves around them....hello people need to enter and exit there- please dont stop right in front of it!

or someone is actully attempting to pull in our out of that driveway or side street and people will not for the life of them let them in traffic-- WHY?
----i can see them thinking-- HA! HA! not gettin in front of me sucka!

one time i was making a right- my light just truned green and i proceed tomake my right (because i HAVE the right of way)- this woman was facing me coming the opposite way and was going to make a left (hey you never know this person may be a member of this board--ooops) we both would be going int he same direction after she made her left--- WELL she "attemps" to make her left in front of me while i am making my right-- AND SHE LAYS ON THE HORN---AT ME!

well dont ya know hmmmm :scratchin - we were going to the same place (actually the grocery store! i didnt even think of that- she might be a clueless cart driver too) i saw her go into the grocery store-- so once again i have had it with rude people and i need to tell them about it--

i walk right up to her and very nicely say "ummm, yes, excuse me? ahhhh driving 101......- the person making the right HAS THE RIGHT OF WAY" and i just walked away from her -- ewww and she said pretty loudly "you b***h" ewww i just kept walking and put my hand up like- hey whatever lady! smiled and went on about my business being invisible in the grocery store!

wow- this feels good to vent-- thanks for listening! :thumbsup2

Here's my most recent. I'm in the supermarket, with my cart pulled to the side (I'm looking at coffee). A woman with her cart wants to go past, but there is a cardboard person on the other side of the aisle. She says "excuse me" and then just looks at me.

Why do people DO THAT! They just look at you. It would have taken her less effort to move the 1 lb. cardboard person than it did for me to move my cart the remaining half inch of clearance there was between my cart and the coffee. Sheesh.

After working at Wal-Mart for 5 years, I could no doubt write a book on things that people do in the store that drive me   !!! BUT. My all time pet peeve is people who feel the need to take up AS MUCH SPACE AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE. Like the lady who stands and stares at dish detergents with her cart cutting off the enitre aisle. WHY? WHY? Keep it to one side! How hard is it? The basic laws of driving apply in the stores. Would you park sideways in the middle of a two lane highway? :headache:

When me and DH and the kids go down to Florida when my parents aren't there, we use the Roadmaster and I can't tell you how much fun I have with it - (messing with people that is), you see I go real slow on A1A, then some punk *** tries to pass me and I just let loose and wave to them as I look at them in the oncoming lane. Its a blast! They probably think there is some 80 yo woman behind the wheel and surprise IT'S ME

Don't worry everyone, I make sure its safe!!

As far as your DH considering a big car - I've had both, and I prefer the Caddy, GM's for me, I was never a Ford person, but that's just my opinion

Playing games with a moving vehicle is never safe!

I'm a clueless shopper ha ha :earboy2: Have to look at everything before I buy it.

No peeves until I hit the slowest checkout line in the store. Sometimes the aisle light is flashing at the register, which means trouble to me. Last time was at Petsmart where the cashier and shopper were going over dog food coupons that didn't scan right. The store manager was paged and the person waiting next in line had steam coming out of her ears. I ended up going to another line.

UGH! This drives me CRAZY!!!! I can't stand when someone stops right in front of me or parks their cart right infront of where I am. Im not tiny, you can't miss me. UGH! It doesn't happen often since I know exactly what I need and where to get it without having to do much looking around. But when it does I want to scream.

The only thing that makes me want to scream more is when I get "hit" by another cart. Look where you are going. Its not that hard.

These are all prime examples of why there is so much 'aisle rage' these days.
