Bottom of pie...

That is hysterical-once again you are very thorough, I think everyone knows what graham cracker crumbs are!:rotfl:

thanks that looks good and pretty easy. when we make chicken salad, we usually put a little ranch seasoning in it as well. I use the big jug of it from sams club, lasts forever...also makes good homemade croutons.

dont want to steal dawns thunder on her macaroni salad recipe....but i have an easy one that i make and usually goes over pretty good.

come to think of it, this is not even macaroni salad, just an easy one i make for parties.

noodles(any kind)
cook noodles, set aside and rinse with cold water to stop from cooking.

then i take carrots cut into small pieces...

small hunks of cheese(same size as carrots) usually cheddar

italian dressing to taste

and the main flavor comes from the mcCormicks salad sepream (sp) seasoning...i spelled that wrong.

very goodand you can customize it to your taste as well.

sometimes we put in cut up brocoli, or calliflower, or even sliced up pieces of salami and pepperoni

that is nothing like macaroni salad,,,opps sorry.

try adding the ranch seasoning to your macaroni salad it will taste different from potato salad.

That is so funny-Great recipe, but not macaroni salad-pasta salad! I think I need sugar added to the mayo for mac salad maybe. I don't like miracle whip so I need an alternative.
BTW, I have lurked on all your TRs and PTRs-loved them. I will have to go back to your latest and say Hi!

Very funny-I was thinking the same thing. Dawn, look what you have started! We should all send you Disney bucks or something for all your ideas, yet alone the hours of entertainment!:rotfl:

Kathy - Ms. Scotland 2010 said she did not have them there so I was thorough for her. I gotta believe they have them. Think about all the desserts we make that they do not have if they don't! The tragedy!!!

And, Karen -a caravan of tater salad and Nuttrt-Roos would be an amazing sight.

Another tip:

Dawn's PB&B

Ingredients:
Peanut Butter - Skippy crunchy
Bacon - not Maple flavored
Bread
Toaster
Butter
Knife
Sober enough head to cut a sandwich into 1/2 with all 10 digits left on your hand.
(Triangular shaped please)

Step 1- Toast bread lightly - add a thin layer of butter to keep bread moist, add peanut butter to one side and then add 2 strips of your favorite reg flavored bacon - NOT MAPLE. (well you can but I like my bacon to not taste like my waffles.)

Put the top on the sandwich and then cut into triangles.

YOU WILL NOT REGRET THIS!!!!! It will result in a cult following and good looking men swooning over you.

Awww, that's so sweet, you think my family is normal! The Bus is really just a rough translation of its actual Chinese name. It's named after my Uncle. Yeah....it's a lot funnier in Chinese....haha:rolleyes:

And how did we start talking about our usernames? Or nicknames? Did it start with the "liking names with 'Y's in it thing?"

Goodness, I go to bed and wake up to 4 pages! :sad2:

Can't wait to try out those chicken salad recipes though! I usually make pesto chicken, so I gotta try these out :thumbsup2

WTH! I didn't even know you started a new TR. I love your TR's. Read them all. Was i only a lurker? :confused3
Booger;)
Guns in schools.
Food for the drive.:thumbsup2
Garretts.....:lovestruc My man brings me some occassionally, when he is working downtown. I always yell at him, it's so fattening. Then i eat it all.
I'm ready for another chapter........;)
Oh and my guess is 27 just because i THINK it is not taken yet.

Yay another TR :banana::dance3::cheer2:

My sister lives in London and when she comes home to visit we send her back with peanut butter, licorice and pancake mix. They do not have these there! So, I guess graham crackers might be another reason to wave the flag HA Ha!
I once substituted nilla wafers for grahams in my cheesecake crust-I know, I try to live dangerously!

Ha ha, no, not much of this is on topic for sure. I hope you do end up going, I need more posters! Its really easy to forget when you are there to place them and look for them. I have one in ToT that I am really curious if anyone found. It was in the same spot I put it 2 days after I placed it, it was a VERY good spot IMHO!

My little sister has always hated mayo (freak), so when we had BLT night, she had PB&B instead. But smooth instead of crunchy (again, freak).

All these yummy recipes are making this pregnant lady VERY hungry. I think I am starting to drive DH crazy with my requests for him to go to the store and get more stuff :rolleyes1

Coming out of lurkdom to let you know how much i love your trip reports...always so entertaining. And that PB&B sounds interesting...i LOVE peanut butter and i LOVE bacon but never thought to mix the two, i'll have to try it. Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip!:thumbsup2

I just noticed, peanut butter with BACON??????? Who ever thought of such a thing?

Chapter Three: Indiana Cletus & a Bobby Flay Inspired Stop!

I awoke to the realization Dan had woken up and was driving. :confused3

How did I know?

Because the music in my EARS was loud. :listen:

I opened an eye, peeked up under the shade and it was still dark.

Like early before a friggin rooster wakes up dark!

VERY LOUD!

So I asked him to turn it down. Thinking surely he does not have it on purposely back here.

I mean we are in a U-haul for goodness sakes!

It is a long way, from the front to the rear!

(I will insert Treyner's voice here cause I know he would say, "That's what she said!" :lmao:)

Why does the stupid speakers next to me need to be on?

I teetered in and out of consciousness for about an hour, then after the music went back up and I ran out of ammunition to throw at him :duck:, I decided to join him up front.

It was roughly 4 a.m. and he had awoken at 3 a.m. Something about the lights in the parking lot had blinded him! I guess he had not had a shade...I think the music was payback for my restful slumber!

We kept on driving and stopped an hour south of Lafayette and an hour north of Indianapolis.

BFE is where we were at. Which is right next to where one tooth Cletus, who does not think they have S&P packets at his convenience store, works!

You see I have no records of this stop minus the fact, I can assure you we stalked this gas station for almost 30 minutes. :rolleyes1

I cannot find a debit card transaction proof of the purchase.

What I do know is I woke the kids, told them to hit the biffies and Dan got gas before he did.

There were only 2 people in the store and only 2 teeth between them. :teeth:

Carsyn and I were so gonzo that we walked straight past the woman's bathroom, past the men's and straight into a dead end hallway that had a mop and bucket.

I was tempted to use it.

The local help, one tooth Cletus, asked if we were lost?

I said, "No, I usually dance with long skinny, mop topped handles in the early morning hours."

He then replied, "Ya all passed the ladies toilets."

Carsyn and I busted out laughing and stumbled to where his tobacco stained finger was flickering toward.

You would have thought we just saw Dumb and Dumber. Those slap happy, everything is funny, moments are so great.

Baylor walked past us in his own Zombie trance and came out, wanting Krispy Kreme.

I assured him there would be clog filling arteries ahead and he could snack on a bevy of choices in the car. Pop tarts, granola bars, fruit bars etc.

As for me, I was ready for chicken salad. It was 5:20 a.m. after all! This was when I knew I had forgotten S&P.

Dan was busy cleaning the van out from 12 hours of damage and so I sent Baylor in.

He came out and said the guy said they did not have any.

I refused to believe that. Carsyn groaned the groan of embarrassed teens across the world.

I went in and asked Cletus myself and he said they did not have them.

I said I would look around. He looked at me like if I could not find a bathroom, how the heck was going to find S&P packets.

Anyway, I did find them. He said, he had never known they had them. I said they were hidden, next to the ketchup, mustard and mayo packets...with all the other condiment toppings in the ever popular condiment caddy most stations have. How dare his management hide them in plain sight! :3dglasses

He asked where we were heading, I said Florida. He asked if he could come with.

I asked him if he had any money.

He said no.

I said, "Sucks to be you." :lmao:

With that we bid adieu to the rest stop...only to bid adieu again 5 minutes later when we were stuck in the maze o death trying to leave the parking lot.

I guess "Exit" in Indiana does not always mean out.

We were up. We were refreshed. Well as refreshed as any, "slept in your clothes" people can be.

Wait, did I say Carsyn was awake?

She was for 10 minutes, ate and refilled her tank and then, went back to hibernate.

Dan joked with her about eating enough fiber for her plug.

Ya know, like bears do?

So they do not go #2 during the winter!

Anyway, she gave him the 3 finger and a thumb amputee salute  and then promptly resumed snoring.

Good times.

I had the map in hand and knew what I was looking for. Only a few hours away!

I had tried to come up with unique food stops on our way and we missed a few in Lafayette so next up, was Louisville!

I had just watched an episode of Bobby Flay's Throw Down in which he had taken on the queen of Breakfasts.

I wanted to know if I could take her in mud wrasslin.

Only there was one slight problem.

I could not remember the name of the place.

I called 411 and they could not find my thoughts on what it could be.

I kept thinking it was Susie's Breakfast something.

Well, I am a thinker. Actually I am more of a problem solver.

I told Dan to stop in the outskirts of Louisville and find me a hotel.

Ya know what nicer hotels have don't ya?

Free internet business suites on the first floor!

So we found a Ramada. Parked the booger outside, and I walked in like I knew where I was going.

In the business suite I went. On the computer I got and voila!

Lynn's Paradise Cafe was found in 10 seconds!

And as funny as it was, only a few minutes from where we exited at!

So I wrote down directions and we headed out!

We got stuck on a right turn only lane almost immediately after leaving and had to turn around in this quaint little shop.

Notice the bucket theme? I mean who would not leave this out to welcome guests at all hours in the morning when they are not open?

0311100800.jpg

And they had a nice van. Not as nice as the booger though! And I like the barbecue! This was a snowboard shop BTW!!

On the way to Lynn's we passed someone proud of their Irish heritage.

Or at least beer!

We passed the Cafe and were routed to overflow parking 3 blocks down the road, came back to the front and found a spot.

Lynn's was eclectic for sure!

Guess who we saw walking out?

Alright, not really, but is it cool we ate at the same place as Monica's boyfriend's wife ate at?

We threatened to leave Carsyn as she was slowly getting out of the van.

Went inside and was blown away by the decor. They have a cute gift shop up front and in the dining area, shabby chic was overflowing!
