Does anyone leave belongings or personal items with their ecvs when they transfer to the rides? Is this safe to do? I know not to leave anything expensive, I was thinking more in terms of water bottles etc..

personally I don't do rides I have to transfer out of my ECV. If I did I don't think I would leave anything with it. Maybe I'm just paranoid but now days you can never be to safe.

We do transfer our DD out of her wheelchair for many rides and most of the time, we leave her backpack on it. In most cases, your wheelcahir/ecv will be left close to where you board, so it's in the open, but not really in a place where people can get into it easily. THey are either boarding or exiting at the time they go by it. We don't leave anything of value on the wheelchair and we take the backpack with us when we can see the chair will be left in a more public-accessible area.

I have very bad arthritis in my knees but I can wait in lines but will need an ecv to get from point a to point b. I was really hoping I could avoid doing this, but it will make my trip so much easier if I just rent one. I don't need to bypass the mainstreem line, so I thought I would just park my ecv outside the ride and then wait in line.

Thanks for all your advice.

In most cases, a wheelchair or ecv user waits in line with everyone else until right before boarding. This is what is called Mainstream lines. All of the rides/attractions with fastpass have had their lines arranged so that there is enough room for wheelchairs/ecvs to fit in line. There are hardly any rides where wheelchair/ecv users go in a different entrance or avoid the line (bypassing the mainstream line).

Also, if you plan to leave the ecv outside the line and walk in the line, be sure to ask the CM how long the wait will actually be and whether there are steps, etc.

Sometimes I will leave a park guide/map in the basket so I know which ECV is mine when I get off a ride or after a show like Millionnaire. Also, you might want to bring a light colored towel to sit on because those black ECV seats get HOT! That is another way I know the ECV is mine - the towel is there!

I just wanted to say that we put our things of value in a backpack & bring the backpack with us, even when we leave my powerchair near the ride exit... pretty much anytime I leave the chair, the bag goes with us.. as for drinks or anything like that (park maps, etc) we leave those & have never had a problem.

We always leave water bottles, fan bottles, and junk stuff in the basket(maps etc.) it makes navigating getting on the ride easier. I have a big beach bag made by sporto (I think) that is easy to carry cameras/money/first aid stuff, sunscreen etc. We've never had a problem, but u never know.
