Is the Pepper Market a good place to eat? We were at AKL in July, and we got a little bored with the limited selections at Mara. I am excited about the selections at the PM, will I pleased with the food? Any suggestions on your PM favorite dishes will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, We like the Pepper Market for the variety of food offered. I had a Mexican something (maybe a burrito) and my DH had soup. It was very good. We like to walk around the other resorts and try different places to eat. Sandie

The burrito was excellent. Pizza was good also. Everything else looked good, but nothing else we had comes to mind.
The set-up of the PM can be frustrating, if you go when it is crowded. Not the most efficient format for handling lots of people.
During less crowded times of the day, I admit it was one of the better dining options we experienced.

Food at the Pepper Market is pretty good. I had some pasta which was very good. The only thing we did not like was that the Pepper Market charges a gratuity up front when you pay (can't remember exactly how much but I think it was at least 15%). I didn't think I received service worth the gratuity and other resort food courts didn't charge gratuity. So just be prepared...

They did have a different selection at the Pepper market than other moderates. I didn't like that they added the tip when all they did was seat me and bring me 1 drink. If they had come back to the table several times that would have been different. We ended up eating other places because of the mandatory tip. You also had to have a special card to go the drink machines to refill your cup. It was more of a hassle than at other resorts.

The food and choices were all good. we actually made a special trip to CS just to eat there after reading good reviews. We also wanted to check out the resort.

The only bad thing was that gratuity. The server did nothing.

We ate there with Connections vouchers in June.

The food was OK, but it was kind of confusing on how to get our food. Some of the workers just ignored my kids DD-15 and DS-10 until DH came up and asked for someone to help them. We found this to be the case at every station:(

The mandatory tip is strange. The workers brought us to our table, took our drink orders, but didn't tell us how to do things and we never saw them again:confused:

I look at the added charge as a combination gratuity/service charge. At Pepper Market you eat fresh, prepared to order food, off real plates with real flatware. That in itself is enough to justify a service charge to me. I get sooooo tired of having food that has been under a heating lamp thrown at me on a styrofoam plate or plastic basket with a plastic fork and knife.

I agree with Bob NC. We were apprehensive before our trip to CSR about the PM. Bt the food is prepared for you-the way you want it and therefore hot and fresh. The things we didn't care for at CBR was that the food court food was gross. At the PM you have so many choices. We must have had nachos for a snack 4 times they were so good!
If the 10% bothers you, you have a few options. You can dispute it and they often take it off. Or you can take it to go and eat outside on the patios around the lake, by the pool or back at your room. :)

I did like that there were more custom made choices but I don't see why I should have to eat my dinner elsewhere. That seems pretty silly that you have to contest the charge.

I like at CBR the fact that you don't have to wait in a line to be seated before you can get your food.

I don't expect gourmet dining when I am staying at a moderate resort. I have always approached it as it is convenient instead of going somewhere else to eat. But when we stayed at CS we found ourselves waiting to eat elsewhere because of the charge and the seating.

I had reservations to stay at CS again for this last trip because of a discount but changed and stayed at PO because of the Pepper Market.

We thought it was OK at best, although some of the food is fresh.
Disney does not run the Pepper Market and it is not staffed by Disney cast members. They pay rent to Disney.
I found the food to be a bit higher in price and that was before the 15% tip.
When it is busy, lines will form fast because of the seating.
For me, real forks, someone who brings me to my seat and brings me one drink when I have to get up to get my food anyway, are not worth the price.

I found the PM moew expensive then the food court which used to be in Dixey Landings, I loved that place, I just wish they didnt change names. :D

We stayed at CS last March and our experience at the PM was very hit and miss. DH liked most of what he got, I did not. One plus was DD, age 2.5, had better selection here because of "prepared to order" than most other places we ate.

Good luck!
