People smoking in line

what behavior? :confused3 I said it NICELY after THEY gave me an eat **** and die look in MY smoking section. :thumbsup2
How on earth can "this is the smoking section...you might need to leave with that cough you have going on" be said "nicely"?

Oh, goody...Yet another in the long line of whiny non-smoker threads.

Get a clue, folks...10 seconds of second hand smoke is not going to kill you. Yes, there are rude people out there that will smoke outside of designated areas. If it bothers you so much that you have to be a busybody, go tattle to a CM. That's what they're there for, and the smoker IS in the wrong.

But enough with the smoker bashing. If you don't like it, don't do it. Simple as that.

They are being jerks, coughing for effect! Why SHOULD the poster "Be nice."

Unfortunately many people feel it's ok to live by their own rules.

I saw a woman once dump garbage out of her car, old McDonalds bags, french fries, etc.. right into a parking lot. I said something to her and she told me she didn't want her car all messed up... I said "oh but it's ok to pollute the world."
She looked at me like I was from Mars - she just didn't get it. I told her again, you are littering, it's against the law, I'll stand here and wait while you pick it up.... And I did and she did it! Hopefully she'll think twice about doing it again, but to me I couldn't do it in the first place! There's two kinds of people, those that care and those that don't!

Don't you think that behavior could be a tad risky? I'd be worried that the offender might have a baseball bat, a gun, or a good left hook. I'm not saying I'd let it go, but I'd get the authorities to deal with it.

Um, because I said it N I C E L Y. I wasnt rude or short with my words like i was called a STUPID SMOKER. I said it because the woman was coughing like my cats cough up a furball. :rotfl:

Geeze...whats the big deal??? She is was in a SMOKING section and shooting me looks like i was doing something wrong..... :confused3

BamaTigger claimed she was nice. I never thought she was nice which was why I made the remark about her behavior. The passive agressive non-smokers were rude and so was BamaTigger IMO.

IMO, only the first person can be "rude." The responder is only fighting fire with fire.

Are there actual signs at the parks indicating that you are in a smoking area? On our last trip, I wandered in a few of those areas not realizing it. I didn't see any signs but then I looked at my map and saw that I was.

these threads always remind me of story told by long time poster. Long story, short version: some women sat next to her and proceeded to have a major coughing fit. The poster's cigarette was unlit. :rotfl2:

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

Ah, but as a smoker, you are expected to put up with being called "stupid", being told you stink, being abused in all kinds of ways, be subjected to all kinds of passive aggressive nonsense, and just put up with it. :teeth:

Sorry...but pulling the *cough*cough* act when someone is in a smoking area minding their own business (gee, what a concept) is an invitation to rudeness if I've ever heard one. Apparently, though, the "golden rule" doesn't apply to the non-smoker police.

Rude is in the eye of the beholder. One might say that calling someone else rude for no good reason is rude in itself. I certainly would.

yes, there are signs, but they aren't huge or very noticeable. Mostly, I figure if there's an ashtray and lots of folks smoking, it must be one! :rotfl:

Rude? Ok, Play by play re-enactment for ya. Im sitting there in the smoking section of a WDW park, resting my feet, having a nice time looking at the scenery and Im smoking my cigarette, just as my DH is. Cool. Woman and 2 other people NOT KIDS walk up and sit on the ledge. My smoke wanders her way, I am NICE and move my cigarette to my other hand TO BE COURTEOUS. All of a sudden out of my side view I see the woman tilt her head and look at me...she has this unbelieveable mean look on her face, looks at my cigarette, looks at me, and again at my cigarette...the looks morphs into shaking her head and pursing her lips. All of a sudden she starts coughing up a storm, waving her hands away at the smoke that was NOT EVEN going her way and just coughs and coughs and looks at me AGAIN with a dirtier look. So, I NICELY SAY ...."this is a smoking section....you might need to leave with that cough you have going on". She left.

RUDE? lets see what I could of said....HEY YOU WOMAN, QUIT GIVING ME DIRTY LOOKS FOR SMOKING WHEN YOU ARE SITTING IN A SMOKING SECTION! TAKE YOUR FURBALL COUGHING BUTT OUTTA HERE.

Now, that would of been rude. :rotfl:

And I think it's rude that you're calling me rude ... :teeth:.

All I am saying is that relations between smokers and non-smokers while people are smoking would be better if both parties were less rude. The "cough-cough" thing is just passive agressive BS, IMO. I don't do it. Fighting "fire with fire" by being snarky back only proves to the jerky "cough-cough"ers and "scrunchy-nosed-hand-wavers" that the smoker is indeed a jerk just as they thought. A simple "This is the smoking section." would have sufficed and put the non-smoking jerks in their place.

Name calling is rude, but you have to ask yourself, is smoking an intelligent act? It's not--it's an addiction (ex-smoker here). Do smokers smell good? They don't--they just can't smell themselves.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Disney would be wise to designate and actively enforce more limitations on smoking in the parks and at resorts--the vast majority of their customers do not smoke, and do not want to be exposed to the second-hand smoke of people who do.

Obviously they aren't very noticeable since I didn't see them. Maybe there should be better signage.
