Hey guys. Can someone who has cruised in the last few months answer a question about Pelican Plunge? How deep is the water around Pelican Plunge? We will be cruising in December and a couple members of our party do not swim well. Thanks in advance everyone.

I remember the water being around 12-feet deep. You have to be able to swim if you go without a lifevest. There is about a 20 foot swim to get to the slide entrance. They offer lifevests to anyone who wants one and I think it's a requirement for smaller kids. They have two slides, one is very fast (closed tunnel) and one is slower. I mistakenly did the fast slide. The kids liked it, but it was a little too fast for me. It throws you out of the slide before you know it. Be sure to have your nose closed well before you get to the end of the slide! I didn't try the slow slide, but some adults had to scoot down to the end to get off.

They have a lifeguard at the bottom who motions to the lifeguard at the top when the swimmer is far enough away for the next person to go down the slide. I saw parents who would go down first and then wait near the slide for their child. The lifeguards allowed them to do that.

There were both adults as well as children with life vests on.

Here are a couple of pics to give you an idea of the layout. The lifevests are available right on the beach area where you enter the water to swim out to the attraction. It's kind of hard to see in the pictures but you can only go down the slide once then you have to swim back to shore and re-enter the beach area before you can return to the ladder on the platform.

Do you have to swim back to the shore? Or can you slip under the boundary line to get to the entrance quicker? :rotfl:

No not back to shore.

But to get to the structure you do swim out to it and back afterwards just to clear up ay confusion that can come about.

My DD insists on wearing goggles with that piece that covers her nose. :sad2: Anyone know if she'd be able to use them on Pelican Plunge ??

My kids wore goggles but always went on the slower side. When my daughter went on the faster side, she said that the rush or water made her (one piece) bathing suit come off her shoulders.

Also, regarding depth, once you get a few feet past the life guard, it qets shallow pretty quickly.

Looking at the top picture, the life guard waited until people got close to or past his plat form before he held the orange floaty thing in the air so the lifeguard at the top could see it. That was the signal for the next pair to go.

When I saw parents waiting, they generally waited by the orange buoy on the right side (where the rope bends), giving the kids enough space to splash into the water and pop up before grabbing them.

Thanks , she'll be glad to know. She'd never do the fast one anyway ... she'd be too nervous.. ;)

thanks for posting these pics...i didn't realize that this was actually in the ocean...i thought it was being built more in a lagoon. It looks great!!!:thumbsup2

Actually I am very glad that they make you swim some before getting right back onto the slide. This gives everyone a chance to try it. :cool2:

Just a little warning!! Tell your younger kids to be sure to hold their noses when they hit the water...it really is a fast landing and if you hit face first into the water...(like my son did) a snoot full of salt water is NO fun. Just my word of advice..... be careful and have fun!!!

Yes, after you go down the slide you have to go back onshore and back thru the queue. There is no going under the boundry lines and skipping the queue.

It's located next to Head's Up Bar.

I 2nd that!!! I came flying off that thing and salt water went straight up my nose, it was gross!!!!

I would say the water is pretty deep, I'm 6' tall and I was no where close to being able to touch the bottom!

Like that is ever going to happen. There are no real slow days a CC unless the ship is not docked. It will be even worse with the Dream.

Yes it is and has. I am telling you they made us get out and go back through the que even when there was no line when we cruised in March.

I think they have you swim back and forth so you don't go on it as much. Another way to keep the line down.
