PeepsII-The Hot, Sweaty Asian Strikes Back. Feb 2010. 12/2-Part 2 has begun.

Wow! Congrats on finishing my TR!!!!!:thumbsup2

:welcome::dancer:

Dont be afraid to post your thoughts...we're a friendly bunch here.

Thanks! I really loved it along with your pics from China. I go to Beijing and Taiwan every year for work so I could totally relate to your pics and comments. I think I even have a picture of a squattie that I could post! :scared: You should have seen my face the first time I saw one. Of course now I think that it's helped build my muscle tone in my thighs :rotfl: Your family is beautiful and I'm glad your so close, family is so important!
I can't wait for the next update!

Okay, just read the whole PTR, well maybe intensely skimmed. :surfweb: So, am up to speed. Lookin' for less shoe and purse discussions and more beer and sports. I've really enjoyed the China pix.

I think I have a picture of one from my trip to the Great Wall.....I also have a story about one squattie, but this is a family friendly forum......;)

I love China and the people of China. Some of the customs are funky, but I'm sure they think the same when they come here....

Welcome.

Favorite Beer? Mine=Widmer Hefeweizen or Miller Genuine Draft if I'm going domestic.

Favorite Sports Teams: Dodgers, USC, Niners and Stanley Cup Champions 2007 Anaheim Ducks.

Hi Jordan! I'm now totally addicted to your PTR! I just finished your TR (of course I should have been working but I could NOT stop reading!) and am totally on board now, ready to ride the PTR wave! Woo Hoo!

Okay, just read the whole PTR, well maybe intensely skimmed. :surfweb: So, am up to speed. Lookin' for less shoe and purse discussions and more beer and sports. I've really enjoyed the China pix.

Impressive! :thumbsup2 You'll know when you are true addicts though when you read through his LAST PTR and all three parts of his TR... :surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb: :faint: :dance3:

Favorite Sports Teams: Dodgers, USC, Niners and Stanley Cup Champions 2007 Anaheim Ducks.

Obviously in REVERSE order of importance... :upsidedow

First of all, we've reached the mid to upper 80s here in SoCal. It's very warm. Our house is not well insulated which mean our house bakes every day and then takes until about midnight or 1am to cool down.

I have 2 of the 3 fans on right now as we do not have Central Air.

I'm more of a cool weather person. I like my temps to be between 40-65.

I'm sweating up a storm right now and it's 11:40pm..

Anyhow.

I so feel your pain-I'm a cooler weather person too-but a little warmer-60-70 is my ideal...I actually feel/get sicker:sick: in the summer due to the delightful Philadelphia area summer heat and humidity...I think that's part of the reason the Declaration of Independence got signed by July 4th-the Founders all wanted to get the heck out as soon as possible-especially the Northern ones...and miss the mosquitos and yellow fever...

Ironically I don't seem to notice the heat so very much at Disney...:confused3

I took the advice of many and wrote my friends an email..wait. Let me cut and paste...just a sec. Here's the email I wrote:

Gene and Jeff,

I thought I'd just give you an update on WDW. Right now it looks like for 3 of us at Pop Century, it'll run 1075. That includes room, tickets to everything (waterpark, arcades, parks), and meals. The only thing not included in that price is airfare and discretionary spending money (for drinks and souvies).

It's July and there are 6 more months until Feb. You can save about 350/month and be set. I will probably make a reservation at the end of August, beginning of September. They only require about 250 total to put a deposit down and then full payment is due 45 days before the trip. If you want to make monthly payments to the reservation I can set that up with the Travel Agent.

I know Jeff mentioned not having a ton of money right now. If you can't make it this year, I completely understand. It won't keep me from going and it won't piss me off. I'd just like to start moving ahead so I know how much I need to budget. If one or both of you don't go, then I need to put aside a bit more money and I would need to start doing that starting this month. So if could let me know that would be great.

Jordo

This is extremely reasonable-you are a master of diplomacy...:thumbsup2

So these pictures were taken the same day we were at the Temple of Heaven...it was a looong day, but we saw alot of stuff. After seeing the Temple of Heaven aka Epcot's China Pavilion, we took the bus to Tiananmen Square.

Here's Tiananmen Square. I wanted to take a funny picture of me laying down in the middle of the square in mock defiance of Communism. My friend highly suggested I don't attempt it. She said I would've been escorted out of the country...really.

China2009311.jpg

China2009312.jpg

You are a master of restraint...I'm thinking that would so not have gone over well and then we'd have seen you on the news and Hillary Clinton would have gotten involved when they through you in Chinese prison...and well some of that food you had been turning your nose up at might have started to look not so bad...

Me in front of the entrance to the Forbidden City:
China2009315.jpg

See now that's pretty cool...:cool1:

Here I am listening to a tour guide...I understood her perfectly:rolleyes1
China2009317.jpg

We walked over to Wa Fu Ching-a upscale shopping area. It also has Snack Street. You may see this street on shows like Bizzare Eats or whatever it's called. I think I've also seen Samantha Brown here eating a starfish.
China2009328.jpg

It's all about the texture...:confused3-hey I'm just saying if Samantha did it-she also was a big Jiko fan:rolleyes1

China2009329.jpg

China2009330.jpg

China2009333.jpg

We found another snack street:

I would've eaten one of the scorpions except they were still moving:
China2009348.jpg

I have to agree with you...I really can't do live food...I just don't want my food staring at me before I eat it...

Okay that's all for this update

I don't mind sweet, but I do hate being stuck in the "friend zone" with women that I've been interested in.....

I can understand feeling that way especially when you're interested in someone but it really is much better than having a woman tell you she's moving across country or worse she's rethought her life and is going to be joining a convent...-just sayin...

I love China and the people of China. Some of the customs are funky, but I'm sure they think the same when they come here....

It really is an amazing place, so full of history. The squatties did take some getting used to though. I thought the Forbidden City was so remarkable! I bet if you would have laid down in Tianemen Square we would have seen you on the show Locked Up Abroad , that would not have been pretty.

Impressive! :thumbsup2 You'll know when you are true addicts though when you read through his LAST PTR and all three parts of his TR...
Call me a true addict, I read it all! I can't wait for more, you guys will have a great time! What a beautiful family you have! I had just as much fun looking at all of the pictures as reading the comments!! !:dance3:

Welcome.

Favorite Beer? Mine=Widmer Hefeweizen or Miller Genuine Draft if I'm going domestic.

Favorite Sports Teams: Dodgers, USC, Niners and Stanley Cup Champions 2007 Anaheim Ducks.

Beer: Stella Artois

Sports Teams: Penn State, and any professional team with a Penn State alum. I do like the Lakers going back to the "Showtime" days.

I did read through a good portion of his last TR a while back, but there's just so much there.....

I hope you hear back from the guys soon so you can get your planning on.

I really enjoy your pictures from China. Well, except for the stick food pictures. The scorpions I could handle, but SEAHORSES! They're my absolute favorite marine animal. Shedd aquarium in Chicago has an amazing display of seahorses/sea dragons that I could watch for hours. They do NOT belong on a skewer!

I'm glad you chose not to lie down in Tianammen Square. The Chinese military are not peeps you want to mess with.

On another PTR..joy13's I think...a great PTR by the way, she mentioned meeting her husband at McDs then 2-3 others mentioned they also met their husbands at McD's. I'll try anything these days....so I've been to McD's 2x in the last few days...:rolleyes1
:lmao: Any luck?

Chapter 16. Spin, Wheel, Spin....

Hi Dan!!! :hippie:number 3? you made your own scenario huh? interesting idea.

Yeah, I've heard the stories. My friend knows 2 women still in prison for religious reasons.

The Hangover=I have stories comparable to parts of the movie...like the time I slept in the gutter.....or the time in Vegas that I drank, met some strangers from Canada, had dinner with them, threw up, passed out, woke up at 2am and went out drinking again....:rolleyes1

I haven't been on FB in weeeks.:headache:

Nice to have you around, if only for a moment ED!!!!!

I like the email you sent out to the guys. I hope they get back to you soon! Ok, those scorpions on a stick might just be the scariest/grossest things I have ever seen. :scared:

Do you think scorpions and seahorses are worse than fried dog?:scared1::eek::scared:

Chapter 18. The Great Wall

Still no word
Yeah, I haven't heard from the guys yet.....perhaps they'll let me know at church later today.:confused3

Upcoming events
I'll be at our conference church camp next week and won't be able to interact with you all much, if at all. I have something planned that will help you pass the time while I'm away for the week. There will even be a prize. Oh by the way, this something planned is TOTALLY PTR related!!!!! More details coming up soon. I think it'll be fun!

The Great Wall

I don't really have many more pix of China that are of alot of interest so I'll just get to the good part. A few of you have already seen thes pix..sorry I'm trotting them out again...

On my last full day there, we were able to go to the Great Wall. The portion we went to was a bit farther than the touristy one that many go to. It's supposed to take around 1 1/2 hours to get there. It took our hired driver a little less than an hour...there were times when I was actually scared.

You can either walk up to the Great Wall or take a gondola..we chose the gondola
China2009426.jpg

My first up close view of the Wall
China2009430.jpg

Once we got to the top, I immediately am overcome with this feeling--hard to describe. I imagine it's what people feel when they see the Pyramids in Egypt or the Grand Canyon for the first time. It was simply awesome. I never thought in a million years I'd ever be standing where I was standing, yet there I was
China2009435.jpg

So were the kids:
China2009436.jpg

A picture with Grace and me:
China2009437.jpg

Oh and there were hardly any people there. We saw maybe 30-40 people on the Wall the whole time we were there. Good Wall Mojo for sure

We had lunch on the top of this lookout post:
China2009444.jpg

After lunch we continued to head to our destination..to the top of this one wicked hill:
China2009449.jpg

Here is the bottom of the hill:
China2009457.jpg

Here's me about half way up:
China2009461.jpg

Here's the last section of stairs. Are you kidding me? My chicken legs were like rubber.
China2009466.jpg

Here's the view from the top:
China2009474.jpg

Me Jordan. Me climb big hill.
China2009475.jpg

China2009486.jpg

we were there for about 3 hours. Oh and I got cell reception and called a few friends. I think I called Wendy...
